Just a little Saturday Chat…

If you were waiting for Ellowyne’s dress to show up on Ebay, you were sorely disappointed, as I didn’t get it on there. I had a birthday luncheon (lots of birthdays lately) with some friends today and then at 5:00 this evening I had to go about 25 miles away to add some side pockets in a homecoming dress for a friends daughter. I took my sewing machine and everything I thought I might need and did it “in house” so Lydia could try it on and make sure I got the pockets just right. Her dress was a pink taffeta circle skirt, (with side seams) and had a stiff netting underneath to hold it out somewhat. She wanted pockets to put her cell phone in. Her mom told me they went to Evansville, Indiana last week dress shopping and in the whole store, there were only 2 dresses that had side pockets. I guess I could “pocket” a little $$ if I wanted to get a “side business” going. :o) I got it finished but it was 8:15 when I got home, so there was no time for listing…I hadn’t taken my pictures yet.

[Speaking of pictures, one of my readers, Bobbie, emailed me and said the pictures in the post were so huge on her screen that the whole dress wouldn’t show up in one picture. Did that happen to anyone else? It must be because I’m using my phone while I wait on a new camera battery.] I did figure out how to resize my pictures tonight…maybe that will help, as I’ll have to use my phone for pictures until my camera battery comes in.

I have a few pictures to show you…

This morning when I read the comments about my 4 hints for Ellowyne… Charlotte mentioned the size of applique I used for the “shawl” wrapped around Ellowyne’s shoulders. She said maybe a smaller scale lace might have been better. I actually thought so too, but I thought I was going to get it listed last night so I just went with what I had… well, when I didn’t get it listed, I decided to look a little harder in my stash of laces and appliques… and lo and behold… remember all those laces I got from Eileen? I found the prettiest little appliques that I was able to sew together and look… well, you can sort of see…it’s another hint…

Now here are 2 more hints for something… I’m seriously debating about it…and will decide over the weekend… so watch on Monday to see if you guessed what, or who, it is… :o) It just might be exciting…

I’m looking forward to seeing the finished outfit for Ellowyne, Jeanne. I love the ribbon roses you’ve added to that bit of lace!

Oooh, looks like someone got a new dolly!! Maybe one of Ten Ping’s friends? Looks like the feet are pretty tiny, which is why I guessed that. Will be waiting to see!

    Have a good weekend.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I somehow managed, in the middle of my very busy day, to get Ellowyne’s dress set listed on Ebay. It is scheduled to come on in about an hour…
I’m so glad you spoke up and mentioned the applique…otherwise I might have just used the white one. It looks much better with the one smaller sized one.
      Yes, I did get a new dolly…but she’s still in the box… I’m debating…but she sure is cute! :o)
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I sure can’t figure out what the fabric is with what looks like diagonal trapunto lines running through it. A new doll is certainly up next. A sister for Ten Ping? I give up.

I’ll share a picture of my Ellowyne after she arrives and I make something for her to wear. She will come undressed but has pretty curly red hair. I had bought another Ellowyne but sent her back by return mail as she was scary. It’s amazing how the wig and face painting make the dolls so completely different in character. The Ellowyne from Jeanne’s friend is beautiful, but I’d also like to have one with inset eyes that are so beautiful in Jeanne’s picture of her Ellowyne. Something to wish for. Many thanks to Jeanne for kindly taking the time to put me in touch with the lady who had the Ellowyne. So thoughtful. But I’m beginning to think Jeanne’s website is contributing to the delinquency of an adult in my case.

    1. Sometimes I can’t believe the clairvoyance of your design choices. I just opened a new Barbie Catalog and there were dolls with very large-patterned white lace used for the bodices and even one whole gown of the same type of white lace. Bravo!

      1. HI Susette,
What you’re thinking is fabric, Susette, is actually the dolls box… but I liked your guess!

I really didn’t do anything on my end…except connect you with the seller… she read about your wish in the comments… so I guess the thing to do is think out loud when you make your comments… :o) then your dreams might come true…

I decided to use the smaller applique for her capelet, but if someone saw it and wanted it, I would gladly send it along to the winner…
        Thanks Susette,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    1. I was trying to be subtle with my comment, but after reading later comments, I guess that wasn’t necessary. 🙂

      1. Hi Theresa,
I KNEW you KNEW..and it made me smile! :o) Like I’m doing right now! :o)
        Thanks so much!
        Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Jeanne Marie!!! You went to Kohl’s? Did you see the Wellie Wishers? Ha! Got you! Of course it is a Wellie Wisher, and the feet are bundled up to hide the boots! I know the designs on the box by heart! As for who, I cannot tell, but do I see a faint hint of pink on the feet? Can’t wait to see who and if you get her!

I absolutely love the new collar/shawl you made for the dress! So pretty and delicate! Have a wonderful day off tomorrow!

    1. Linda Sue!!! or maybe Linda Kay!!! or maybe Linda Marie!!! I don’t know what your middle name is but I HAD to do that! I DID go to Kohl’s after my lunch yesterday… I HAD to… you told me to, didn’t you? That’s all I’m saying… as she typed with a smile…. :o)

Thanks for your compliments on Ellowyne’s new dress set… It will be on Ebay shortly…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Christine,
Well, that’s a nice guess, but I’ll have to keep you in suspense till Monday… but it sure is fun for me!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The new shawl looks very cute.
Just as I had to switch computers to post, Linda and Christine guessed a Wellie. I found what her box looked like and saw that she is tied in with bands, not ties like perhaps a new Wren. Definitely a Wellie. Can’t wait to see your choice. They are all so sweet.
As for excitement, my new Little Darling by Magalie is in the mail. She sent a photo, and she is adorable, of course. Waiting impatiently for her to arrive. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Well, I’ll have to keep you in suspense just like I did everyone else… but who cares about who “I” got… what matters is who “YOU” are getting! How exciting Joy! Oh I can’t wait to see which doll you got! You can send me a picture anytime!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Lovely ribbon embroidery on the new shawl, Jeanne. I’m glad you chose the pink as an accent color. The size and scale of the shawl, along with the curved edges, look just right. I’ll be watching for your listing of Ellowyne’s romantic ensemble this evening.

Yes, those definitely are not the stocky legs of my Patsy or the thinner articulated legs of Ten Ping. I must agree that those legs belong to a Wellie Wisher. Although I don’t own one, I have seen them, and these knees show the slight curve and hint of dimples that are a hallmark of AG design. A new doll for Jeanne Marie? How exciting! Enjoy your day of rest, Jeanne, and all the best to you in your dolly decisions!

    1. HI Anne,
As soon as Ellowyne’s dress goes on Ebay, I’ll change my picture on my website so you can click on it and go right to the listing…
Thank you for the kind comments on the new lace applique I picked. It is much better and looks very pretty with the dress.

I haven’t taken my doll out of the box yet… still contemplating, but mostly just too busy to do it. We have invited Jean and his wife Bithar and the 3 kids over for lunch tomorrow. I have been in crisis cleaning 101 you might say. I’m making BBQ’d chicken, green beans with potatoes and corn casserole. For dessert it’s zucchini bread and ice cream.
You probably didn’t need to know all that… but now you do…
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Ellowyne’s shawl is lovely with the little ribbon embroidery roses. I can’t wait to see the whole thing together in one piece. It reminds me a little of those Gunny Sax dresses that were so popular when I was a child.
You did, you did get a Wellie Wisher and that is her box. I didn’t make it to Kohl’s yet to see them, but I hope to next week. I have no intentions of getting one, but if I did, my favorite is Willa. i wish they had cloth bodies like the PC/AG girls and were a little fatter, then I might be sorely tempted I think Willa would be a perfect stand in for Felicity’s sister, Nan. I’m going to venture a guess you got Willa because those sure look like her ladybug boots to me. With a new doll, the dolly shelf must be getting pretty crowded.LOL
I’ve been having some dolly fun as well. I have successfully removed Nellie’s wig and the wig from the #33 I bought. I also successfully removed #33 eyes and am just keeping them in case I decide to eye swap Nellie as well at some future point. I’ve always loved Nellie’s Josefina mold with freckles, but wished she had longer hair. I plan to try #33’s wig on her today and see how it looks. This way she can have her own wig when I want her to be 1930’s or #33 wig to be Victorian/ Edwardian or Civil War ( with MG and Caroline) or even 1950’s. I think it will make her very versatile. Since she’s already renamed she a different character already.

    1. Weird. Part of my comment didn’t load.I was going to say I think I now know why people want to make customized dolls. One doll to cover multiple eras. I managed to recoup almost the entire cost of #33 because I gave her to someplace for parts, otherwise I couldn’t have done it.
      Have a relaxing Sunday

      1. HI Laura,
Well, in keeping true to what I told everyone else, you’ll just have to wait till Monday to see who is in the box… but she’s a cutie… I don’t know where this sweetie is going to stand on the shelf… oh dear… what have I done?

Wow… you’ve been busy today with lots of dolly changes… make sure you send me some pictures.. I want to see what Nellie looks like in the new wig… I bet she’ll be adorable…
        Thanks Laura,
        Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Well, I’m thrilled. I chose Camille for my great-niece Madison, who lives near an ocean and has similar hair and blue eyes. There’s a woman in Longmont (near Boulder) who makes a variety of cute Wellie Wisher shoes in felt for very low prices. She sells them on Etsy, and I bought blue ones in case Camille wants a change from boots. I did wish that you made clothes for Wellie Wishers for special outfits, so your choosing a Wellie is a gift for me.

I left Camille all wrapped up in her box for Madison, so it will be nice for me to see the photos as you unwrap your doll, as you did for Ten Ping. By the way, when I put images Ruby Red Galleria into Google, one of the pictures is of Ten Ping sitting in your hand.

My day was spent with my sister Linda at an antique show in Longmont. One of the women sellers hand paints children’s furniture — rockers, tables, stools — a wonderful idea for when the family babies grow into little girls.

Have a lovely “day off” and we’ll see you on Monday.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Well, I guess the only surprise now will be to see WHO I bought! I think you told me you bought Camille for Madison. I’ll have to check out the lady on Etsy who sells the shoes.. or I could try it myself… Mine is still in the box. We are getting ready for company tomorrow so my dolly is still waiting for me to undo her! :o)
Your day at the antique show sounds like fun… my sister would have loved to be there too! She likes children’s furniture and sometimes finds salesman samples and buys them. She has 2 new grand babies on the way… :o)
      Yep, I’ll see you Monday…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Jeanne, I just have to tell you how pretty Ellowyne’s “Romantic Charm” outfit looks! I know you love designing for the little girls, but this ensemble is equally enchanting and you shouldn’t hesitate to design for Ellowyne more often. I do so enjoy your blog and the anticipation of your next creation. Thank you for inspiring and delighting us with your dolly designs!

P.S. You mentioned that Rebecca suggested something for the high waist on Ellowyne’s dress. Did you decide against it?

    1. HI Anne,
Thank you so much for your sweet compliments on Ellowyne’s dress set. I’ll try not to be so intimidated by her any more. She is such a pretty doll and I do love the looks of things when I get them done… it just doesn’t come as easy to me as child like dresses.
Rebecca just thought it needed to be broken up a bit with something…so she thought the waist was the only place to do something… I opted to do something under the collar and it seems to have worked…
      Thank you Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Oh oh oh…I was just taking my shower and realized I forgot to mention your wonderful poem in Ellowyne’s listing! Everything you do has a special touch, Jeanne. See you Monday! Blessings, Anne
