Just a few pictures in the snow…

I tried, honest I did, but had some “momma” time today… I have the pictures taken now and will work like crazy to get this listed on Ebay Friday evening.

I went outside this morning, while it was still cold mind you, and took a few pictures of the girls in the snow. It was supposed to get up to 35 degrees today and I was concerned that the snow would all melt and then I’d have no snow pictures to show you… I grabbed my girls and tried to find a spot that wasn’t “covered in tracks” and even this spot on the bricks had a few birdie tracks…

I’ll save the rest of the pics for the next post, but here are some sunny, snowy pictures to hold you over… Hope you like them…

…and because Linda wanted to see the coat over the dress… here’s 2 more pictures…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. This is great. The melting snow and the spring blue make this a real promise of spring. The two buttons on the hat tie it neatly to the coat. The dress collar shows nicely under the coat collar. The last outdoor picture has green trees and blue skies in the background. You could hardly have done better, except you were probably quite cold by the time you got back indoors.
The blue buttons on the dress show up really well in the sunshine and that detail matters. It says everything about this outfit has been carefully chosen.
    Congratulations on yet another success!

    1. Thanks Marilyn,
I do like the outside pictures too! I’ve got to get a pretty place set up for more pictures to come!
The 3rd picture, with the blue sky reminded me of the outside shot in the American Girl Scenes and Settings book for Molly. The blue sky seemed the same to me…
Our outdoor session was pretty quick… I was going to put the coat on Rebecca outside, over the dress, but I was too cold. (I had just washed my hair and it was wet… but I did have a wool sock cap on…)
Thanks so much for your kind words!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, those pictures in the snow are SO clear and crisp, Jeanne! I think the blue’s show up a lot better, and are really a picker upper for us winter weary souls! Somehow, the blue looks bluer than the inside pictures, which have more of a gray cast, and I can almost feel spring in the air already!
Thank you for showing the coat over the dress! It looks just great and helps hide the separation between the neck and body, plus it looks warmer too!
I hope you decide to use some of the outdoor scenes in your listing. It looks like Jeanne Marie has a “new” venue now for picture taking!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, there’s nothing quite so perfect as natural lighting… I’m glad you enjoyed the outdoor pictures… I did too! :o)
I am trying to think of how to make a little scenic area outside… that area on those bricks seems to be the perfect way to face my girls… no shadows on their faces…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. With minimal snow in the background, “Promise of Spring” surely looks very appropriate in your setting. Just a wee bit of Winter, a wee bit of Spring, crisply pressed seams, crystally like (blue) buttons, soft colors….as Marilyn noted, everything was carefully chosen and my! it’s so well “put together”. Yes, another winner!

I trust “Momma time” went well? You’ve served a soul who is blessed, I’m sure.

    Blessings to you.

    1. Thanks Becky,
It was a pretty day yesterday for outdoor pictures… a bit chilly, but a very pretty day! The sky was blue and the other colors showing were white and the green of pine trees, and of course all the bare tree limbs… I was happy with how clear the pictures turned out… Glad you liked them too. :o)

My time with momma was better than I expected. The night before she called me and said she wanted to go back home… she didn’t like living at Liberty anymore. I was distraught… I told her there was nothing to go home too, but she was pretty insistent. She called Deb and I think that conversation was pretty rough for Deb…
So when I went yesterday, I had no idea what to expect… but as it turned out, the Lord had mercy on me and the subject never came up! We did some shopping and even bought her a new little plant stand for her apartment… So… I was blessed by a nice day with her!
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Love love love the snow pictures. The lighting is so perfect. The dress has that blue cast and not gray like Linda mentioned. I can’t imagine the difficulty for you in getting the shots in your very extreme weather. My favorite is the third one. Just delightful with the colors so true. Really makes the girls faces and eye color pop.
It has stopped raining here and is clear and crisp this morning. More rain and beloved snow expected in the Sierra over the weekend. 🙂

    1. Thanks Joy,
You really can see the beautiful color of blue that each piece is… I loved the outdoor pictures too! So glad I ventured out! :o)
Do you EVER get snow where you are? Just wondering…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Snow are you kidding? We’re at elevation 20 ft and an hour from the coast, so perhaps once in a decade we may get a slight dusting which is gone in the blink of an eye. The snow sometimes stays on the coastal range for awhile. We are 3 hours from the Sierra’s where they get lots of snow in a good year. Personally, I love snow. Because we journey to it and can enjoy playing and skiing on it and staying at our cabin. I only like sunny days though. 🙂 Then, we head home to no snow at all. Quite different than having to shovel it every day. 🙂

  5. Wonderful pictures Jeanne. It’s amazing how the outdoor lighting makes a difference compared to inside lighting. The outfit is just adorable. I like the two buttons on the tam and how it just all goes together. Perfect day to take the picture too…with a little bit of snow and green peeking through.
    Have a blessed day!

    1. HI Paula,
I know…the outside pictures are wonderful, aren’t they? I guess I need to cut a hole in the roof of my sewing room, to let all that natural sunlight in! That would be great, but I don’t think even a sunroof is as good as the real thing, being outside in the sunlight.
Our temps are above freezing today and the sun is out, so I think most of the snow will be melted by later today, or for sure, by tomorrow.
I will have a blessed day… you too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Your snow pictures are wonderful, Jeanne! So crisp and clear and vibrant. Like Joy, my favorite is the third one, with the greenery. It seems to make everything pop. And as Linda said, the blues are so true in the natural environment. The bright blue sky really intensifies the blues of the coat and dress and shows this ensemble to full advantage. Sun, snow, sky–all highlight the theme “Promise of Spring.” LOVE IT!

    1. HI Anne,
It seems that everyone likes that 3rd picture… I do too… It was my favorite! The warmer temps today does give us hope for the Promise of Spring… not next week, but soon! :o)
I’m so glad you enjoyed my pictures, Anne.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I think your setting is perfect and the birdie tracks are always my favorite thing to see when it snows. I love waking up after a snowfall to discover tiny birds have paid a visit. Everything about the spot you decided on is wonderful. Love seeing the coat over the dress and the collar peaking out is lovely. I am so in love with those two fabrics and as a fabric hoarder, you didn’t hear me say that (lol) I would hard pressed parting with it.

The blue sky and greens with a tiny snowfall what more can you ask for. Well except for me, we got 17″ a week ago and I am sad to see it leave. All that is left is huge dirty mounds where the plow shoved it. I never want to see summer come.

    Fantastic job.

    1. HI Sandra,
I have to admit the birdie tracks were sort of sweet to see in the snow… :o)
I am the same way about these fabrics… and still can’t believe how well they went together…it’s a different color of blue and to have it match the cotton fabric so well, was truly wonderful!
Our snow is mostly all melted…tomorrow I’m sure it will be all gone… except for those dirty mounds piled up in parking lots…
      Thanks Sandra,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. The outside ones and the inside ones are both good….so maybe you can use some of each?
We had 50 degrees today! It was so nice to not bundle up for a change.
    Have a good weekend!

    1. HI Kathie,
I did use some from the outside AND the inside in my listing… which just went on… I was actually an hour earlier at listing it than I usually am, but decided to leave it…
We might have temps in the 50’s by the weekend… It was pretty out today, but still windy so the wind chill was pretty chilly.
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. The coat and dress do look bluer out in the snow. It also makes the appliques show up better as well. I agree as well that the third picture is great. The greenery contrasts well with the blue and makes everything very pretty.
The pictures with Rebecca wearing the coat over the dress are nice as well. Another lovely creation.

    1. Thank you Laura,
I put that 3rd picture at the top right side bar on my blog page… that way everyone can enjoy it till it sells… I managed to get it listed… one hour earlier than normal…
I’m already working on something else now…
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
