Josefina’s new moccasin laces…& who’s up next…

Okay, no more white frilly laces for Josefina’s moccasins… I knew they were wrong before I even showed you all. I went to Hobby Lobby today and picked up some brown suede cordings and used the softest, most pliable one for the laces. They look better, don’t you think?

I also found a little decorated basket in my stash of baskets, that I filled with some veggies and then added a strap so Josefina could carry it on her shoulder.

Lastly, I made a concho hair tie for her hair.

Even if you don’t have an American Girl Josefina doll, this set would look pretty on just about any doll.

I worked like crazy to get it all put together, took pictures of it all, and got it listed on Ebay. You can see it HERE.

…and don’t forget, those of you who have Little Darlings…my set, The Talent Show, ends this evening on Ebay. You can see it HERE or click on the picture of it at the right side bar…

So, who’s next…and what will she be wearing? I’m hoping you can help me decide…

I want to get something made to go with Ten Ping’s little red shoes before I lose them, so I have picked out 4 fabrics and hope you’ll help me decide which one would look best on her.

  1. oooo, I like #4. My Josephina is whimpering that she needs ‘attention’, now. I didn’t realize she was looking over my shoulder. :-/

    1. HI Mary,
Oh, don’t you know, you can’t ever let your dolls see you on the computer… sometimes they bid on their own….
Thanks so much for your vote!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Hi,

I like #4. Glad you are sewing a lot more. Love seeing your choices and combinations. Susette

    1. HI Susette,
I wish I could sew even more than I do… I don’t know how I used to have 3-5 things listed each week… I must have been superwoman back a few years ago!
      Thanks so much,
      blessings, Jeanne

  3. Since I don’t know what style of dress you are making, I can’t be sure of the correct fabric choice, but… I prefer number 4. I like the richness of the color and the smaller scale.

    Blessings,
    Beth

    1. HI Beth,
It’s funny, but #4 was the first fabric I pulled off my shelf… guess I liked it too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks for the compliments on Josefina’s moccasins, Anna. I appreciate your kind words.
      Got your vote for #4.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Actually all four designs are neat but I especially like 3 and 4. Four might lend itself to the fall?
Just look at that sweet little girl sitting on the material. Wonder what she’s thinking? Hard to tell by her expressions!

    1. Hi Paula,
Thanks fro your nice compliments on the fabrics I picked out…
I can tell you what Ten Ping’s thinking… “Get some clothes on me, please!!!”
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Good morning, Jeanne. I wrote my post in Spanish yesterday and then it didn’t load. :-
One more try because it was fun. Josefina es que linda (Josefina is very pretty) en su vestido nuevo (in her new dress). Los zapotos son muy bonitos tambien (The shoes are very pretty also). Su pelo marron es muy bonita. ( Her brown hair is very pretty.)
El color rojo es perfecto para ella. ( The color red is perfect for her).
I like fabric number four best. the scale and color seem the best to me.

    1. HI Laura,
Actually it did load because I answered it… but two times in Spanish is fine with me! Thanks for your sweet compliments on Josefina’s set.
It appears that #4 is a hit with everyone!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I love number 2, I think that fabric would look so cute for Ten Ping. The moccasins look really cute with the brown laces.

    1. HI Regina,
Another vote for the fans fabric! Thanks for the compliment on Josefina’s moccasins. I think the brown is much better too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I love fabric #2 for Ten Ping, but I think it would call for little slippers. Maybe with an embroidered flower toe. With the lovely red shoes, I think #3, would be an interesting fall change from the darks. Maybe just past the knees in length, and with a pair of white socks.
The little basket with fruit is so perfect for Josephina. Love it.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts on the fabrics for Ten Ping Joy,
It’s a close call between a few of the fabrics, so we’ll see…
I’m glad you liked Josefina’s basket of veggies… so does she!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. The veggie Basket looks so appropriate with Josefina and the hair concho is cute too :0)

Hard choice for Ten Ping…Love the design in #2..maybe with one of the solid colors worked in with it?
I know it will be adorable.
Just repaired an Oriental Doll for my friend from her time in China as a child. Reminded me of Ten Ping..those innocent sweet faces just melt you!

    1. Thanks Kathie, I appreciate your thoughts about the fabrics. It’s still to close to call, but it’s tight between #2 and #4, so w’ll see…

Oh, I bet your friend is thrilled to have her childhood doll repaired! Nice of you to do that!
      Thanks for your comments.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Josefina’s shoes/moccasins look wonderful with the new shoelaces, Jeanne! I love the sweet basket of fruit too, it is just perfect for her and to highlight the outfit! Wish the price was more in my range, but oh well!

Like someone else mentioned, I am kind of stuck on what fabric to pick for Ten Ping, because I don’t know what kind of outfit it will be–dress, pj’s, kimono, or what, so don’t know what fabric to pick. The fans would make a sweet kimono, and the white background fabric (3), looks very striking with her shoes, but I think 4 would make a cute fall outfit. Just depends on what you are making!

    1. Thanks so much Linda, for your thoughts on Josefina’s new moccasins and her basket of veggies. I had 3 of those baskets and needed to use them up, so this was the perfect way to do so.
Most likely I will make Ten Ping a little Fall dress… I found another fabric in my stash after my post had already been published… a brighter small scale corduroy, that went wonderfully with her shoes, but I think it might be too late to show it to everyone now…
Rats… it’s a really fun and bright little print… I may sneak it in and see what the reaction is…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Jan,
Thanks for voting for number 1… now it’s not feeling left out!
I’m glad you like the shoes done this way…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Oh! I love, love, love Josefina’s outfit. Where did you find the tiny veggies? I need some for my Thanksgiving vinyet (sp)?
I really like the fan fabric, but think the brown would be good for fall.

    1. HI Debi,
Thanks for the compliments on Josefina’s dress set.
Someone else just emailed me and asked me about them. I told them they came from Hobby Lobby, but as I’ve been thinking about it, I think I got them from Joann’s years ago… they were with the bird nests, and the butterflies and that sort of stuff…
I put you down for the dark brown…
      Thanks Debi,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Josefina looks very pretty in the complete outfit. As for Ten Ping, I like number 4 or maybe even number 3. They are smaller scale than the other two.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Well, unless I get lots of other choices this evening, your vote for #4 has clearly made it the winner. It looks like Ten Ping will be getting a pretty little brown Fall dress…
      Thanks so much Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Charlotte Trayer

Much as I love the fan fabric (and I know that my AbbyRose Lien, an AG doll, would love it, too!), I think the scale is just too big and overpowering for TenPing. I was taught that the biggest element in a print shouldn’t be bigger than your hand, and I use that for dolls, too. Of course, there are exceptions, such as those prints where the whole design might be really large but subtle, for instance, so it reads more as a solid or ombre’ than a print. But I digress….

Although I’m not really a brown person, I have to agree, #4 looks best to me. The scale of print is right, and there’s some light (cream) and bright (red) to add sparkle to the dark background.

Congrats on Josefina’s outfit, by the way. It’s beautiful on her!

    Charlotte

    1. Well Charlotte, you picked the right fabric…the brown was the top vote getter… Thank you for the kind words about josefina’s dress set. I appreciate them.
      Blessings, Jeanne
