It’s turquoise and pink and brown waves for Emmie…

I hope you trust me because even if “your” choice didn’t win, this is still going to be very pretty on Emmie. The turquoise and pink dimity fabric was the clear winner from the comments and emails. The wavy brown wig, that’s actually too small on Emmie’s head, won as the favorite. I did some work on her new debut dress and even though it looks pretty simple and plain… just hang on a bit longer… I think you’ll like it when it’s all finished.

I think her dress may be slightly too long, so I’m probably going to put some tucks in the hem of it… I used my favorite Swiss Batiste lace to “fancy” it up…

That turquoise wool felt is beside Emmie for a reason… but I’ll never tell…

My other “girls” showed Emmie the Dolly Toy Box and she has already found her “accessory” for this dress set! :o) Aren’t they cute together?

A simple post, I know, but at least it’s about sewing and dolls! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. That was fast, and Emmie looks beautiful. I didn’t know if you could make that wig fit, but you did. This was a lovely surprise, and it may be finished by the time we read your next post. Congratulations.

    1. Thanks Marilyn,
I hope to get more done on Emmie’s dress today… It was a battle getting to wig to fit her, but it finally shifted forward and it does look better…now if it just doesn’t pop off!
It would be nice if I could get this finished today! We’d both be happy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Yay, you picked the brown wig!!! It looks thicker in the bangs part today, and I love it! Oh, I have no doubt, Jeanne, that you will get that dress looking like a Jeanne Marie original soon! Yes, I think it is a bit long for an everyday dress, and the tucks will be just the thing to do! It looks so fresh and dainty, just like Emmie does! She looks adorable in this, and you could give her a little jacket to go with it, with that pretty blue felt. Of course, I have no idea what you have up your sleeve for finishing the dress, so that might not work if you have something else planned for it.
This is a great start to the week!

    1. HI Linda,
I wish they still made this wig… I have several in other sizes, but they are too big…
Hopefully I can get some more done on it today… George wants me to come and help him with a bathroom floor he’s working on for someone…so I’m “on call” now…Maybe he won’t call!
It’s just me and Reuben here, so I should be able to accomplish something… :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. It’s amazing what a little tug on a wig can do for a girl. It may give her a headache, but we must all suffer for our beauty. Love the dress and look forward to the accessories which always make the ensembles so special. Also I’m missing Anne Johnson’s kind and always informative comments and hope all is well. I seem to remember she has a lot going on.

    1. HI Susette,
I was worried as I pulled on the wig, that my finger nail might slip and put a mark on Emmie’s new face… yikes!
Thanks for your compliments on the dress so far… it really does look pretty in person on her.

I received an email from Anne last night…she’s just been busy with things…but she’s still reading the blog… I missed her too…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Emmie’s outfit is turning out beautifully, Jeanne. It’s always a pleasure to view your work.

    Blessings.

    1. Thanks so much Becky,
I’m glad you’re liking the dress so far… hope you like the rest of it when I get it finished! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Hi Jeanne,
This is the second time my pc ate my note to you. Grrrrr. I’m shortening it. Love the dress… love the hair… has Bithar had her baby yet? Have a lovely day filled with good things!
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. HI Ingrid,
Sorry about your computer eating your comments… that’s about the most frustrating thing ever! Thanks for your kind comments and No… Bithar hasn’t had that little girl yet, but I went with her to the doctor on Friday and I got to hear her heartbeat… :o) Jean made it back home Friday afternoon and all is well…
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Emma’s dress is so sweet and fresh and summery. There’s no doubt that your genius talent will thrill us all. Glad to see the girls showed Emmie the toy basket! She’s fitting in quite nicely with your other LD’s, isn’t she?

Looks like a nice sunny day, not too humid. Have a happy day!

    1. HI Paula,
I was glad that the turquoise fabric won out as I really wanted to make her debut dress from it. I’ve changed my mind a little bit about how to finish it, but I think it will be sweeter than sweet! :o)
Emmie IS fitting in nicely with her sisters and it’s nice to have her on the dolly shelf!
I’m hoping to sew on Emmie’s dress and some “other” things!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Like the wig pulled down a bit. Emmie is so cute! Her eyes are so blue with that fabric choice. I wonder if that is the start of a jacket, as it appears to have a curve for the neck and straight cut for the front? Guess we’ll find out.
Fog is in this morning so hard to wake up. Feels like the beginning of fall.

    1. Hi Joy,
The wig does look better pulled down… I’m not very fond of bangs being too short, but when I took that first picture I was mostly showing it for color.
My lips are sealed on what the wool felt will be used for… but that’s a good guess!
      Thank you Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. The dress is beautiful! It looks delicate just like Emmie. I am partial to the curls so I’m happy that you chose the curly wig this time. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the wool felt. Something wonderful, no doubt.
    Have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. HI Charlotte,
This fabric is work with… it’s about as thin as tissue paper and gathers up incredibly! It’s fun when you have a nice fabric to make a dress from. I’d compare it to a Liberty of London Lawn fabric, if you know what that is.
I better get going to see what creative thing I can come up with today!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Charlotte Trayer

Emmie’s dress is turning out beautifully, Jeanne!! I’m guessing the felt will be a hat–and maybe a little purse?

Today we went shopping in Frankenmuth, and my dollies will be getting a new little tea set to share!! (One of Many purchases today! LOL) Having a great time!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m glad you are enjoying your visit… Isn’t is funny when you have dolls, how you go “shopping” for them???
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. She is going to be pretty in any color or wig….loved her as a blonde and redhead too. I can see why you love that trim. I’m making a little girls dress from the 40’s or 50’s over to fit a big compo baby doll and it has a similar trim…I can’t wait to show you because you may want to try it that way too.?
Hope she has a jacket out of the felt….is it a perfect blue match or what?
You know how to keep us watching!

    1. HI Kathie,
I just got my post listed for tomorrow… you just wait and see what I made… well, at least try to guess…
She does seem like she will be able to wear any color and wear any wig too! That will be nice…
I pulled out that tiny and dainty piece of Swiss batiste you sent me a while back and was going to use it with this dress, but she was so small, I would have had to cut off too much of the top of it and I didn’t want to do that… I’ll probably save it for a special AG doll.
Can’t wait to see the dress you’re making…
      Thanks so much Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
