It’s my Birthday and I am truly blessed…

Turning 59 isn’t so bad… with a little help from friends and family! Yep, I’ve reached the dreaded last year of my 50’s and next year…it will be official… I’ll be a Senior Citizen…but hey, next year I’ll be able to get these discounts:

* 10% discount at Denny’s
* 10% discount at Burger King
* 10% discount at Wendy’s (for 55+ seniors… hey, I’ve been going there for 4 years and didn’t know this…)
* 15% discount at Kohl’s on Wednesday for 60+ year olds…
* 10% discount at Great Clips when I turn 60…in case I want a new look for my hair!
* 10% discount at Kroger on Tuesday’s I think… of course, it’s a madhouse on those days… ask me how I know…

…and MANY more….

I think JoAnn’s has a Senior Citizen disount too, on certain days, so maybe next year will be better than this birthday. Although it hasn’t been bad so far. I think I’ll enjoy this last year of being 59 very much!

Yesterday, two very dear friends took me out to lunch and I got a new Lilly Pulitzer cookbook. She was a famous American Socialite and Fashion Designer, known for her bright colored fashions, espeically her green and pink ones…The front of the book is so colorful…Here are a few pages from it…

Thank you to Sharon, Penny and Bill, Miss Rita, Helen, Leann and Linda! I love you all!

My younger sister, Deb, signed me up to receive a year of Plan to Eat…a meal planning helper. You can find your recipes, copy them to a page, then it prints out a shopping list for you! She showed me how it worked once at her house and it was very neat! You can click the title and it will take you to their site. Thanks Deb…Love you!

Then today I received a big box from my big sis… Cindy! It was filled with fabric, dolly shoes, glasses, a tiny little black sequined headband, a little hair clip for me, several skeins of yarn for our Skinny Scarves that we sell in our Etsy shop, and a pair of shoes…

I LOVE randomly filled boxes!! Thanks so much Cindy…Love you bunches!

My momma visited me today and gave me some $$$! We all love that gift, don’t we? Love you, Momma!

So today we are going out for lunch somewhere and this afternoon my son and hubby are going to the Rams Football game in St. Louis. Kristoffer gave his dad tickets to the game for Father’s Day. That leaves Rebecca and me to fend for ourselves…no telling what kind of trouble, I mean FUN we might have!

I am so very blessed to have all of you in my life…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Good morning Maureen,
Thank you for the birthday wishes!
I hope you’re right about the best being yet to come…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Happy, Happy Birthday to you dear Jeanne Marie! I’m not the first today, but the wish is still the same, and like Maureen says, “the best is yet to be”! I have been a senior citizen many moons now, and find it very freeing and not bad at all. You are as young as you feel, and I feel pretty young most days! I think my dolls do it!

I see you got my card, and it reminds me of the ones I used to get as a child. After I saw it at the store, I knew just the person I wanted to send it to——–YOU! Have a wonderful day today and a very good year ahead! Love you too!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks so much… and the card… when I opened it, I just went Awwww! That was very sweet of you and so fun to find in my mailbox!
I do plan to have a good day… It’s already good…look at all my birthday wishes from everyone!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Glad you has ssuch a happy birthday. What a thoughtful gift the box was. It’s true: The best is yet to come! Best wishes to wonderful lady!

    1. Hi Susette,
Yes, my sister knows me pretty well… nothing makes me happier than seeing fabric and then dolly things… how fun!
Thanks so much for your birthday wishes to me…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Happy Birthday! I hope you and Rebecca find a lot of trouble to get into and out of today. I love Linda’s card and think it could be the inspiration for a lovely doll dress or two, especially if you could find a similar basket. Historical Fantasy is a charming style.
I wish you a wonderful day and a beautiful birthday cake.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I hope we find some trouble too! I love trouble…the good kind, that is!
      Yes, I thought the same thing when I saw Linda’s card… hmmmm… that’s a good idea for a dress. Isn’t it a sweet card?
Also, thank you for the e-card you sent me. That was adorable…makes me hungry for cake, and it’s only 10:30 in the morning… Oh well, maybe “sometime” today I’ll see cake…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Kathy,
Thanks so much for your birthday wishes… I’m going to enjoy this day…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Happy, happy birthday, sweet Jeanne!! Ok, that’s all I’m saying cuz your pictures of food made me so hungry, I have to go fix something. No..just kidding. They did make me hungry though. I just loved looking at all the things in your birthday box (your sister knows you well) and your pretty cards and reading about your other gifts and the fun you might have today and I’m wishing you the most fun ever..the very best birthday you’ve ever had..filled with love and laughter and sweet surprises. You are a treasure to all of us!!

    Many blessings,
    Bobi

    1. HI Bobi,
Yes, don’t those pictures look good. I’m going to be making that Farm Stand Salad soon. That look really good to me.
The box was filled with the things I love…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Happy Birthday Jeanne! Sounds like you are having a great birthday. Thank you for the inspiration you are to others and for making our days a little brighter.

  6. Happy birthday to you, Jeanne. Hope you have a beautiful day making birthday memories with your daughter. No work today, just have fun, and eat lots of cake!
Thank you for sharing your birthday gifts with us, so fun. Linda’s card that she sent you reminds me of the ones I used to get from my grandma.
    Enjoy your special day!

    1. HI Cindy,
Thank you Cindy. I’m so glad you are a part of my little blog world.. I love hearing from you and seeing what you are doing…
Hey, everyone, if you didn’t know this… you can click on Cindy Rice’s name above this comment and it will take you directly to her site… (didn’t know if everyone knew that or not…)
I remember getting cards like that too, when I was younger and I would cut them out for paperdolls… I guess I’ve been doing the “dolly thing” all my life, I just didn’t know it…
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Happy Birthday wishes from Texas! I enjoyed seeing all your nice cards and gifts and hope you have a fabulous day and a fabulous year.

    1. HI Debi,
Actually it’s just my hubby and son who are going to St. Louis to the ballgame. Rebecca and I are going to do something here… but it will be fun… I’m sure.
      Thanks for your birthday wishes…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Happy Birthday, Jeanne. If we had known I’m sure we could have thought of some kind of surprise. Have a good time with Rebecca.

    1. HI Jevne,
All these birthday wishes are plenty from everyone… Nothing you could have done would have been so sweet as seeing and reading all your birthday wishes to me.
      Thanks for yours…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Joy,
It sounds like you’ve already checked out the Taco Bell and Arby’s… I’ll have to remember that…
      Thanks for your wishes…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Happy, Happy birthday to you, Jeanne. You got some wonderful gifts and hey, discounts are great! I just know you will make good use of the Joann’s one.:-) Hope that you and Rebecca have a FUN day together. I wish you God’s blessings in the coming year. Thank you for all the fun you bring to us on your blog.

    1. HI Laura,
Thanks so much for your birthday wishes to me… We are getting ready to go have lunch together before the guys have to leave for St. Louis… then the fun will really begin… hopefully!
Thanks so much for your sweet comments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Happy Birthday! I had guessed you a LOT younger than 59…like 10 years younger! That was a great way to celebrate….your Sister is like mine we trade clothes and shoes throughout the family too. Have a great trip today…aren’t you going to the AG store?? 🙂

    1. OH Kathie, you get the gold star today for your kind words about my age… Yep, as much as I’d like it to be 49, it’s 59!
Actually, I’m not going to St. Louis… it’s just my son and hubby for the Rams football game tonight. The AG store was too far away and it would be closed when the game started, and I wasn’t thrilled with sitting out on the curb in St. Louis… so another time… I’ll get there one day!
Thanks for your birthday wishes, Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Have a wonderful birthday celebration today! I turn 60 the end of October, and I’m not looking forward to it! I think I’ll stay 59 for a while yet. 🙂 Enjoy your special day!!

    1. HI Karen,
Thanks so much for wishing me a happy birthday. We are heading to lunch here in just a little bit. Then the guys will head to St. Louis and Rebecca and I will find something to do here. Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Happy, happy Birthday Jeanne!! I hope that you have a wonderful day and that you and Rebecca have a great time together.

    1. Thank you Regina,
We just finished lunch at my favorite Chinese restaurant. It was wonderful! Thank you for wishing me a happy birthday!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. Happy Birthday To You, Jeanne!!! I don’t know what made me think your birthday was September 5th instead of today??
Regardless of my mistake, I wish you much happiness today- a day I hope you enjoy in every way!
You mean so much to me and the other girls…you are indeed a blessing to all us.
You will love each year of your life no matter what age, for the Lord will continue to bless and protect you as He has promised.
Have a lovely lovely blessed day, Jeanne.

    1. HI Paula,
You may have seen on my post when I did it on my wedding, that our Anniversary is on September 5th…
Thanks so much for your very kind words, Paula. It has been my pleasure getting to dress your girls. I’m thrilled to have you for one of my customers…
Thanks for your birthday wishes to me…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. Happy Wonderful Birthday Jeanne – May God shine down his blessings on you today and everyday!
    Leigh
PS Thanks for posting senior discount info – I forgot about that and could have been using them! Dah – truly am a senior now.

  15. After 59, I started using, “i’m older than dirt if asked” . It was a big shock the first time I was given the senior discount without asking for this. I am thankful for each day now. The best is yet to come.

Son in law brought up Maryellen and extras daughter bought. This was interesting. Lise who does not care for dolls must have been intrigued by the store. She bought the poodle skirt and pj outfits and the hair style kit. Maryellen is a doll I will have to keep forever. Dolls never stay with me very long. I feel as I am celebrating your birthday with you as I opened the boxes. So, Happy Birthday to you one more time.

    1. HI Jan,
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes… it’s been a fun day and I’ll have to use the “older than dirt” when I feel the need!
So is the Maryellen doll that your daughter bought for YOU? I thought she bought it for herself, but it doesn’t sound like it…
Well, I guess we both got to open boxes…
      Thanks Jan,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  16. Happy Birthday–it sounds like you are much loved. I really loved the card that had the pictures of the old-fashioned dressed girls. It reminds me of a valentine I got when I was younger–much younger. You should go to the AG store while you are in St. Louis. It isn’t hard to find, maybe just a few miles from where you will be. This is really a guess, since I don’t know where you will be, but if you get on Highway 60/64, and go all the way to Chesterfield Mall, it is there. It would be wise to ask someone, or get a city map, or look it up on a Map Quest, you could find it.
So, Happy Birthday, I hope you enjoy your day,
    Diana

  17. HI Diana,
Actually, it was just my hubby and son who were going for a Father’s Day trip… belated of course. I was thinking I could go and they could drop me off at the AG store, but the football game is at 7pm and the store would already be closed so I just went shopping here at home with my daughter Rebecca.
We had fun and now we’re going to watch the football game on TV and see if we happen to see the “guys” in the crowd!
Thanks for the birthday wishes, Diana,
    Blessings, Jeanne

  18. Charlotte Trayer

Belated birthday greetings!! We had a terrible windstorm the 29th, and by shortly after noon we had lost our power–which we finally got back today (I’m still on the 30th! LOL), around 1:30 or so. A total of 25 hours without power–and without wifi, too! We still don’t have cable back, last time I checked. Phooey…..

Anyway, looks like you had a fabulous birthday, filled with surprises! (Just wait another decade, until you’re my age! I”ll be 70 next January. Now, how did That happen?! LOL)

    Charlotte

    1. Thanks so much Charlotte,
I never would have Guedes you werev70. The way you write and how you say them makes you seem much younger. I really did have a nice birthday…thank you for your wishes…and I hope everything is back to normal now!
      Blessings, Jeanne
