It’s Anniversary Number 3 for me…

Before I do today’s post, I wanted to let you know I managed to get Nora’s dress set listed on Ebay Monday evening. You can see it HERE, or you can click on the picture at the right side bar and that will take you to the auction. It ends Saturday evening. Here are a few pictures of it… in case you missed seeing the hints I gave yesterday…

I can hardly believe I’ve had this blog running for 3 years, but I have. I hit the “publish” button for my first post back on August 1st, 2014, and haven’t looked back. If you missed my first post, you can see it HERE. This is my 1064th post and when I add the numbers up… 365 days in a year x 3 years = 1095 days. I’ve only missed 31 days of posting in 3 years. The first 2 years I didn’t miss a single day…then I started taking Sunday’s off sometime last year. It’s hard for me to sometimes leave a Sunday post empty, especially when I have something listed on Ebay that’s ending that evening, so I’ll do a simple one just as a reminder…

The last comment on that first day was from Sissy and she told me she knew she’d love my blog. I responded and told her I hoped I had enough to talk about… I guess I have! :o) I still have topics on a list that I made even before I published my first post…

I have made SO many friends and sometimes I can’t believe how I have been blessed. You are the most generous, kind and thoughtful, sweet to one another, giving ladies (and 1 gent that I know of), that I could possibly know. You have so many encouraging words, bits of wisdom, knowledge of things I know nothing about, love and care toward me and my family, and it truly humbles me. I thank the Lord for the opportunity to share my love of sewing and other things with you and am amazed that somehow we connected and you love what I love too!

It’s been a while since we had a giveaway, and this seems pretty minuscule for a 3rd Anniversary giveaway, but it will have to do. I’ve had lots on my plate lately and still it’s pretty full, so I wasn’t able to sit and ponder about some way to really celebrate.

So, for this 3rd Anniversary giveaway, and to be entered into the drawing for the slip, think of 3 things you like about my blog, or what keeps you coming back for more, or even something you’d like to see more of…your comment will enter you into the drawing… It’s an “ANNIVERSARY DRAWING” so everyone join in. If you want, you can share your comments through the “contact me” tab under the header at the top…

I’ll draw out a winner Tuesday night, at midnight, and let you know tomorrow who won…

Thanks again everyone, for sticking around and mostly for your friendship…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. CONGRATULATIONS, Jeanne! For three whole years plus several more before the blog, you have been a wonderful friend and have taught me so much about life and how to live it, while having fun on the side and giving to others. I look for your blog every day, starting it out with something beautiful, clever, heartwarming, and friendly! You never disappoint, and I have made some very wonderful friends through your blog, that I would never get the chance to meet otherwise. Thank you so much for being YOU, and being a light to others. I’m looking forward to the coming year, “visiting” with you and hope to make it a “real” visit someday!

    1. Thank you, Linda! It’s wonderful that you are close and WE WILL meet up one of these days!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Charlotte Trayer

I can’t believe it–I’m actually seeing the contest announcement early enough for me to enter, for a change!!

Three things I like about your blog:
1–your willingness to be bold about your faith
2–your wonderful step-by-step instructions (for socks and petticoats, that I remember–might have been something else, too) which are well-illustrated with close-up, clear photographs
3–your sharing parts of your life and family, both ups and downs, with us.

I leave tomorrow night for Michigan (“…my Michigan” [from the state song]–grew up there, and go back to visit friends and family when I can), so may not get to the computer for a couple of days. I expect my best friend, June, will let me use her computer while I’m there, though (as she always does), so will look forward to finding out if I won or not, whenever that may be. Not for at least 48 hours, though, I imagine.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Have a great time in Michigan! I’ll be sure and hold the slip if you’re the winner!
      Thank you, Jeanne

  3. Jeanne, I do enjoy your blog and read it every day on my email. I wish I could comment from there. I get so many each day, and then there is FB! I have been doing well selling doll clothes and handmade shoes just showing them on FB to the groups for special dolls. Anyway, I was thinking of you a couple of days ago while reading a blog that only posts when they have something for sale. I was thinking of how you have written nearly every day, and told so much of your life. I love reading about all the loving things you do for others. It is a pleasure to know you. Keep it going, dear friend!

    1. Hi Sissy,
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts…Glad you are a part of my blog family…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Happy Bloggin’ Birthday! I haven’t been reading all 3 years… don’t remember, exactly, *when* I subscribed to your posts. I ‘do’ enjoy reading each day, tho. You inspire me – 1. to be positive in life – 2. to try new things (i.e., recipes and re-purposing projects) and 3. to sew for my dolls (your willingness to share your ‘techniques’ and tips are priceless!). Thank you for ‘being there’!

    1. Hi Mary,
I’m very glad to be there for you…thanks for reading everyday!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I pictured you at the hospital, holding Bithar’s hand, both of you wishing Jean was there. I’m so glad I was wrong.
So — three things about the blog:
    1) you do show real life and how to live it — The Laurel’s Kitchen people say that Quakers have a concept called Living Intentionally, which means something like living by your principles. You do that spontaneously, without making an issue of it, even, as far as I can tell, to yourself.
    2) the crafts and recipes, including Cindy’s work, Rebecca’s jewelry, art from family members, repair work, and the soon to come flooring.
    3) the beautiful clothes — the slide shows, the problem solving, the methods you use, the backgrounds you choose.
Mostly I think I like having something nice to get up to or check in on during the day. It’s being able to share your life and having this web of other people who enjoy the same thing. I like hearing about where people are going and what their weather is like and seeing pictures of their interests and gardens and dolls and children or grandchildren. This blog is a lovely daily gift.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
No baby yet…whicj is fine with me. I just texted Bithar to ask how she was…she said, “good, but she was still having some compression…” I think she meant pressure…
Thank you for all the lovely things you wrote about! They made me smile!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Congratulations! First thing is waking up to your wonderful blog. Thanks for rekindling a love of sewing, something I hadn’t done in 40+ years. Thanks for all the tips for solving problems when sewing and assuring me that I’m not alone with seam ripper! Thanks for sharing stories about your lifestyle, chickens and gardening, family and love of giving of yourself for others. Special thanks for the friends I’ve made through your blog. I second all of the comments above.

I just won a petticoat, so please don’t enter me in the drawing and good luck to a lucky reader.

    1. Hi Susette,
I’m so glad you started sewing again…what a thrill for me to have inspired that in you…
We should have a problem solving post sometime…someone can pose a problem and let me see how I would solve it…
There are some pretty sweet ladies on here, aren’t there?
      Thank you, Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Congrats!! I keep forgetting to update my blog. LOL You are a trooper! I’m not entering, but I do love seeing what you are working on and how much you do besides sewing. You are truly a talented woman and I look forward to reading your blog every day to see what you come up with next! 😀

    1. Hi Christine,
Thank you for being a devoted reader of my blog…I’m glad you enjoy reading it each day.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Congratulations!!!!
I love you sharing your love of sewing as well as your tips. My Mom shared sewing with me but she passed away a long time ago. Since then, I really haven’t had anyone to share it with. Secondly, I really enjoy your friendship. You don’t view us only as just potential customers or readers but as friends.
Third, I just love your stories. George, Rebecca, the chickens, your garden, your quest for a finished floor — all your stories are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them with us. Thank you for being you!! Congratulations again!!
    Have a great day!!
    Take care.

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m glad you found some other seamstresses to chat with and share your love of sewing. It is fun to find others who have the same loves as you have, isn’t it? I’m glad you enjoy coming here each day!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Congratulations, Jeanne on 3 years of caring and sharing with us:)
#1… even though I’m a seamstress myself, I love learning new tips and you are so good about sharing.
#2…. stories about your family and friends warm my heart. You are exactly the person I would pick out to adopt as my sister !
#3… I love your shopping trips to antique stores and photos of all your “found treasures ” that will eventually become parts of your lovely outfits.
Your photos of everything snd your funny way with words keep me looking foreword to your daily blog:)

    1. Thanks for your sweet comments, Shara,
I’m glad you can come here and find something new occasionally. What a very kind thought about picking me for a sisyer…awwwwww! I wish I could clone myself sometimes… one of me to cook, one to do housework, and one to sew… I might get lots more done that way!
I’m happy to see you here every day!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Hurray, it’s Blog Anniversary Day!
Congrats and a big thank you for going to all of the trouble to answer each of us everyday. You are such a wonderful, thoughtful, and caring person.
So happy to hear that Bithar’s little one is waiting, at the moment.
Maybe the “other store” will have additional ideas for your floor situation. There must be some solution other than “paint.”
Way to go with the anniversary, and I know there is another in the great month of August!

    1. HI Joy,
It’s no trouble to answer your comments, it’s just that sometimes there’s not enough time… but I try!
We did find something today…and it’s the best thing we’ve found so far… I won’t let the cat out of the bag just yet but it’s looking promising…I probably won’t sleep tonight because of it.
      I can’t believe you remembered that…and that…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Congratulations, Jeanne, on three years writing your blog. I don’t remember how I fell across your blog but I am so happy to have found it. Not only do I love the outfits you make, I love the accessories for the dresses, but it’s also the uniqueness of the outfits. I love how you put them together in your tutorials and even the way you iron the material as you go. It’s always so neat and pristine looking.
The real blessing in reading your blog, is getting to know YOU. You are such a sweet, caring Christian lady and I love you. I also love the other girls that write you. They are such nice, kind hearted ladies.
I look forward to reading each and every blog. It is one of my daily highlights!
    Bless you Jeanne !!

    1. Thank you Paula,
I remember one of the first emails you sent to me, when you first discovered my doll dresses and you were quite thrilled and sad at the same time because you loved what you saw but sad for what you had missed… it was a wonderful email from you. Thanks for that!
Thanks for your very kind comments and I’m so happy to have you as one of the ladies who regularly reads my blog… even when her computer is giving her fits! remember that?
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. P.S. I also love the doll stories you tell us, whether they are stories about the outfits/doll story you sell, or whether it’s about the doll models you have, especially the pictures of their antics !

  13. Congrats! I’ve been reading for about a year. I love the dolls and sewing/crafting, but I love that you share your life with us too! That’s what makes this a community, not ‘just’ a doll blog. 🙂

  14. Correction, make that almost 3 years. I started following in late Sept, 2014. 🙂

    1. Wow, Melody,
You’ve been reading for a long time… thank you so much for staying with me! I’m still glad you find my writing enjoyable..
It’s nice to have you here…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  15. Congratulations! The three things I love most about this blog are you, your family, and your friends. Truthfully, boiled down to the basics, those three things are it. Of course there is also your talent, your dedication, your love for faith, family, and friends. I have followed you on ebay probably from day one so getting a front row seat to the creation of your beautiful dresses is such a blessing.

Thank you so much for sharing your life with me.

    Donna

    1. Thank YOU, Donna, for your sweet comments! I am humbled at all these compliments and want to thank the Lord for allowing me to be where I am right now. I love what I do and so glad I have more than a few ladies who love to see and hear about what I do.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  16. Congratulations, Jeanne, on three great years. Nora’s dress is just beautiful. I’m glad you left her freckles, I think that make her look so sweet.
As to the three things I like best about your blog:
    1. Getting to know you and your family as well as all the other wonderful ladies who join in. It’s so enjoyable to discuss dolls as well as the many other things we seem to have in common. I really do enjoy each and every post whether it is about sewing for dolls or not. I enjoy when others share things and that we often chime in a response to what someone else has said. Wish we could all meet up in real life.
    2. Seeing the wonderful dresses you create from start to finish. Each one is unique and exciting. I also appreciate the tutorials that you’ve shared.
    3. I also love that you ask for our input and even let us “help” with suggestions for ways to finish, the storyline etc.
I think I found your blog late August of 2014 or perhaps September. I joined AGPT in June and I’m pretty sure I found you not long after. 🙂
Here’s to another great year together. * toasts with glass of lemonade*

    1. Hi Laura,
I’m lifting up my glass of water, as that’s what I have right now.
I’m so blessed that you are a member of my little blog family…you are our historical expert and don’t think I take that lightly!
I truly appreciate your knowledge and am blessed to call you my friend!
      Thank you so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  17. Hi, Jeanne,
I love your blog–in fact it is the only one that I read regularly–except for my Grandson’s. He is nine years old and writes a blog about the books he has been reading. He is a good reader and writer, so I am happy to brag about him. I enjoy yours because of your beautiful, clear pictures of the things you make, the way you get involved with the students of SIU–or maybe they are members of your church. I am amazed at your talent and your descriptions of the sewing and design classes you took at SIU. It makes me wish I could go back and take some. I was born in Carbondale, many years ago, while my parents were students at SIU.
That makes us semi-neighbors/cousins or friends–and I probably should have gone there when I went to college, but I wanted to go father west.
Tell Bithar that I hope her birthing goes well–and I am happy that she is having a girl–even if that makes 4!
Keep up the good work on your blog. I guess now it is time to write a book!

    1. Hi Diana and thank you for your wonderful comments about this blog…I’m glad you enjoy it….along with your grandsons. What a fun thing for him to write about it after he’s read a book…I love that idea!
We can be semi cousins, neighbors or just friends…you can pick!!! What a sweet thought!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  18. Good job on Nora’s dress! It suits her very well.
I don’t get to read everyday, but when I miss posts, I go back and catch up on what I have missed. Three things I like best about your blog are 1) it’s about sewing–one of my favorite things, 2) it’s about dolls –another of my favorite things, 3) you are consistent about blogging so every time I check there are new posts to read. There are other things I like too; you always have interesting pictures that help me picture what you are writing about, you share your family and friends with us, you take the time to respond to comments, you are a talented writer, and probably many other things as well.
Congratulations on three years of blogging! I hope you continue for many more.

    1. Thank you for the compliments on Nora’s dress, Carolyn. She’s just standing on my cutting table with her head tipped just slightly to the side and smiling! All the other girls are wondering who will be next!
I’m so glad I started this blog 3 years ago… there sure are lots of ladies out there who love to sew for their dolls and I somehow am blessed to pull us all together! I hope I can keep this up for a long time too, Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  19. Jeanne, it’s hard to limit myself to just three things I like about your blog, but here goes:

1-your perseverance in each situation you find yourself in and that you relate these things to us…I guess it boils down to your honesty

2-the beauty of your creations and all that you share in the process of them and that you let “us” add our own comments and suggestions for them.

3-your faithfulness to the Creator and all that He has led you in and walked with you in. I find reading your blogs, a humble lady who loves beauty and truth.

Thank for all of the blogs I’ve read-not quite 3 years worth but truly one that has satisfied alot within me.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you for those kind words Becky,
I don’t take them lightly and hope I never disappoint anyone, never say anything that makes anyone cringe, never do anything that would cause someone to question my integrity…
I want to be open and honest with all of you as I would with my own family!
Putting yourself out there for everyone to see can sometimes be intimidating, but I didn’t start this alone… the Lord has been with me every step of the way and He always will be a part of my creativity… I thank Him for that…
      Thank you so much Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  20. Hi Jeanne,
Congratulations! Three years that’s just awesome! I’ve been with you for over a year now. I think just about each and every post has been enjoyable. Well there were a few that made me sad like George’s illness, your issues with your mom and your brother in law passing. But even those unpleasant happenings endeared you to us and helped us understand what you were going through at the time. It brought you prayers and good thoughts from many if not all your readers. (a good thing I believe)
So #1. Your willingness to share… the good, the sad, and the ugly (your painting sweater LOL)
#2 I enjoy all the lovely photo’s you post as you make a Jeanne Marie Original or show us how much the chicks have grown. ( Posting tutorials).. (which by the way is so sweet of you to do)
#3 You generous nature is infectious! I really love that about you. You’ve made me think about what I am able to do for others. It makes me feel so good to be able to pay it forward. thank you for that sweet Jeanne!

    Congrats again on 3 years!
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Thank you Ingrid,
What a wonderful world I have in all you ladies… I’m so glad I was given the talent of sewing or else I might have missed out on meeting all of you and that would be a sad thing.
Every one of you have so much to give and have given so much to me personally! I can’t begin to thank you for all your kindnesses!
Thank you for those very sweet words, Ingrid! I’m glad you enjoy it here each day!
      Blessings, Jeanne
