It’s all about Willa again…

I know, I know…very seldom do I ever make two dresses in a row for the same doll, but I have this time…and I’m not the least bit sorry. I could blame it on the fact that I was trying to get my pattern just right or maybe it was because I didn’t know who to sew for next…but the real reason was… I just wanted to. Willa looked at me with those hazel eyes of hers and I just had to make her another one. This is for all those new Wellie Wishers out there! :o)

I’m not finished with all the details but you can see what it’s looking like so far. Again, my pictures aren’t the greatest… it was midnight and I only set up one light…and Willa’s hair looks greenish to me. It’s almost like she has “swimming pool hair” like swimmers sometimes get from too much chlorine in the pool.

I had just enough of the brown wool felt I used for her shoes to make a hat…it doesn’t have a very wide brim, but it’s the best I could do…

You might also have noticed Willa’s pony tails have been taken out and now she’s sporting the sweetest curls under her hat. I just HAD to see what she looked like with her hair down…

When I was done with Willa, Nahji, my new Hearts for Hearts doll, wanted to try on the dress… so I took a few pictures of her.

When I was all done with pictures, or so I thought, I laid down Willa on my dresser. She looked so sweet looking up at the ceiling, that I snapped a picture of her. It actually turned out the best of all the pictures. I have florescent lighting up above… maybe the trick is getting florescent lighting facing my dolls… hmmmm…

I’ll try to get more done on Monday…so stay tuned!

See you tomorrow,

I’m not normally a “brown person”, but I do like this dress! I particularly like the green piping at the waist–really a nice accent! Her hat is cute, too!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m not typically a brown person either, especially for dolls, but this is a soft, pretty brown and it has that touch of rose and chartreuse green in it that I love very much.
I think it looks good on both dolls.
You better get to bed! I hope you haven’t been up all night! :o)

Not to worry, Jeanne–I’m in the Seattle area, so on Pacific time….probably two hours earlier than you. I can promise you I wasn’t awake at 4:13a.m. MY time!! LOL For instance, right now it’s 11:24p.m. out here in rain city.

        1. HI Charlotte,
I was thinking you put in a really late night to be posting at that hour. I’m glad you were in bed!
          Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Becky,
They are both sweet dolls! I hope you are enjoying Emerson…that’s who you got, wasn’t it?
      Thanks for your compliments,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I think you’re in love with Willa. She’s so CUTE. AG (Mattel) has a winner with the Wellie Wishers line.

    1. HI Debi,
I AM in love with Willa. I just want to get my lighting figured out so I can take really good pictures of her to show off just how pretty she is in person. I think AG did great with this new line… I only wish they had made her head pivot in up and down directions… that’s all…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh, I do like Willa with her hair down. Both girls look lovely in brown too. I ended up ordering Wellie, Camille, some jammies, and cute lady bug hair brush direct from AG. Right now they are the same price as at Kohl’s and shipping is free. Going to our three year old granddaughter for Xmas. I’m sure there will be sales later, but I have a feeling they will be very popular. I guess there is a movie or something so kids will see them and Wish for them for the holidays.

    1. HI Joy,
Oh…some little girl is going to be thrilled with her grandma this Christmas! Good for you in getting Camille. She is a cutie and I read a few reviews that her hair was probably the easiest for little girls to play with and brush.
There’s some kind of video’s about the dolls and their adventures, out on Prime Amazon, but I think they are animated…I’m not positive… I don’t have Prime Amazon.

I like Willa’s hair down too. Her hat wouldn’t fit down on her head enough with the pony tails in… so I let them down…and finger curled her hair.
      Thanks so much Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Melody,
Yes, last week when I got Willa, I decided to try making her a pair of shoes. I picked the brown wool felt as I thought those shoes would go with anything. When I decided to make another dress for Willa, it seemed silly not to use the shoes I had just made. I found the right brown fabric and voila!!! another outfit with matching shoes.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Both dolls look very pretty in the brown. I am actually fond of brown and would love to make Felicity’s brown church dress whenever time permits. Willa looks lovely with her hair down. I really like the little peaked hat you made for her. Are you calling this her Thanksgiving dress? If so, she needs a little pie to take along.
As Joy mentioned there are a season of videos featuring the WW. I got the first one free and will watch it later just to see what they are like. You have to have Amazon Prime to view the rest, won’t be buying that. I’m trying to put a few dollars away here and there in case there is a must have from Felicity’s collection so no WW for me. I am also involved with feral/homeless kitten/cat rescueand have a little guy coming home tomorrow to be socialized. We had always had dogs and I LOVE dogs and still do, but then after our last dog died my daughter didn’t want another dog because we were so sad, so we got a kitty. I really didn’t like cats then , but it is true… if you don’t like cats, it’s because you’ve never had one. I see now why many people have both.

    1. Thank you Laura,
I do like the brown on both girls too, and I love Willa’s hair down in curls….just gotta get the color right now.
This dress just might be her Thanksgiving dress… I have an idea for something… :o)

I would love to have a kitty… but my hubby has never had a cat before so he’s a dog lover… my sister has a cat and it’s so friendly and fun to have them curl up in your lap. I hope you bond well with your new little guy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. So cute, Jeanne! I love the brown, sweet pink flowers and lime green piping around the waist! Such a cute outfit, and when her hat is on, she looks adorable! Her hair looks just beautiful down, that makes her versatile for different outfits. Pig tails for play, curls for dress up!
I was just thinking, I have 14 inch Betsy here and why am I having you measure her, when I can do it myself? I notice the body of H4H dolls seem smaller, in comparison to their heads. Betsy has a smaller head, more in proportion to her body. Right now she is dressed for Halloween, so I’ll wait until I undress her to measure. I’ll let you know my findings.

    1. Thank you Linda,
I like the brown, pink and lime green color combination too… it’s one of my favorites…
I totally agree… hair down for dressy things and in pig tails for when she’s more casual.
I found a chart on a few different dolls and their measurements and I’m pretty sure Betsy is on there…so you don’t have to measure.. just keep Betsy dressed up!

I should post the measurements of a few of the similar sized dolls so everyone could see how similar they are in size.
      Thanks Linda,
Is it gorgeous in St. Louis today like it is here??? I love days like today…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I am glad you went ahead with Willa’s new dress. With the flowers, it fits the garden theme, and you had already made the shoes. Sometimes doing what you feel like doing is the best thing — your work goes smoother and you are happier — and some new Wellie Wisher owner is going to be happy.

In addition, your exploration of the possibilities related to Willa is helping all of us decide if we need a WW and what clothes may overlap. This has been a very helpful decision.

I bought the ladybug brush for the Camille I sent my great-niece, but the “bristles” look like upside-down straight pins and I wonder if they’d get caught in the curls of the dolls that have them. I also bought the standard brush which is similar but the “pin-heads” of the bristles are smaller. I thought that might work better for Madison.

I am so glad about Willa’s hair. I wondered if her hair would work down with the shorter hair in back, but it seems to have been well planned.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I am glad I went ahead with making Willa a new dress. Since she’s the newest doll (well, next to Nahji…) she deserves to get a little extra attention. The lady who won Willa’s Christmas Charm dress was happy and it’s going to her granddaughter for Christmas.
I am fighting the urge like crazy to go back to Kohl’s again and look at the Wellie Wishers again. I don’t need another doll…one is sufficient, but I just want to look at them again.

When I undid Willa’s hair last night, I just used my fingers to curl her ringlets… I have the regular wig brush for my other dolls.
Well, my mom just called…so I’m off to help her with something…
      Bye,
      Jeanne

  7. Hi Jeanne… well its all your fault! I found a hearts to hearts doll on ebay still in the box and yes it is Nahji. I think she is so pretty. I just love her skin color, her henna tattoo and her little nose ring. Sooo I bought her 🙂
I love that you made Willa another dress, she looks ready for fall and very smart.
Thank you for your kind comments the other day. The baby shower was perfect. Hubby and I flew in our daughter in law from SC to surprise Danielle. It was just wonderful to see them hugging and crying. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day! I’ll send you a pretty of the diaper cake, it was fun and easy to put together.
    Have a great evening!

    1. HI Ingrid,
Oh…goodie…you got a Nahji…. how fun is that! I bet you’re going to love her! I sure do mine. I’ve got to figure out the lighting because it’s irking me to pieces for you all not to see just how absolutely gorgeous she is! Her coloring is out of this world pretty!

I did see your elephant diaper cake… it’s wonderfully decorated. How much fun I bet you all had and how sweet to get everyone together! I’m sure it was a very special day for your whole family! Congratulations on this soon to be little one!
Blessings and congrats to you Ingrid,
      ~ Jeanne
