I’m baacckk… and so is an oldie from Kirsten…

SHAMELESS PLUG: Just a reminder, Samantha’s and Nellie’s Coat and dress set ends this evening on Ebay… You can see it by clicking on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.

I know my #22 doll picture is still there, but I’m going to relist her… so I left it.

I don’t know any other blogger who has ladies who just carry on even when the person writing the blog is absent for 4 days! But I DO have the most extraordinary readers! Thanks so much for all your well wishes and advice… I did what you all said… drank lots of water, took Ibuprofen, sat up in a chair, walked around, slept, ate soup, drank lemon water, used the Neil Med Sinus bottle, used a hot rice pack on the back of my aching head, ran the vaporizer and just vegged! And finally became a human again… well, almost… yesterday the crud turned into a cold, and it decided to “settle” in my eyes, so I have these little “razor blade slits” for eyes now… but I’m sure I’m going to make it… it didn’t feel that way on Sunday!

So, the bad news is… I think I’m out of time for Valentine dresses… I’m still going to finish Molly’s pink and white checked dress, but it won’t be finished in time to get it listed and sold. Valentine’s Day is next Wednesday and once again, I’m so far behind it’s not even funny! It’s rather sad for me… but it’s just one of those things that happens in my life. I’m not a “total seamstress” in that I don’t JUST sew, but my life comes first and then I sew… my life just happened to get in the middle of the Valentine’s Day holiday… boo hoo… I’m just as sad as you are because I LOVE making pretty Valentine dresses… and my girls love modeling them.

So how about something positive for Valentine’s Day? I found a vintage dress for Kirsten in my “lost” and “found” pictures. This one was from December 2009 and didn’t have a name… Let’s see what you would have named it? Here’s my story line for it…

“Kirsten made the trip into town all by herself to see if Mr. Berkhoff was interested in buying their new baby ducks. They were big enough to sell now and Kirsten was really hoping she could surprise her Mama and Papa by selling all three of them!!”

Okay, so did you think of a name for it? Not that it matters, but I just wanted to see what you all came up with… Besides, I could use some new “pink” titles!

Thanks for sticking around everyone… I even gained a new subscriber in the middle of all this… thank you to Ann for joining the fun! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I’ve been seeing comments about a public figure “lacking precision.” My first impression when I saw the Kirsten pictures was, “Jeanne certainly does not lack precision.” This is so impressive, and so cute. Love the ducks.
The pink and white checked dress for Molly will work just as well for Easter. I asked what other people would like to see after that, and as you see, they had some nice ideas, not that you need more ideas.
Radiant in Rose. Pink and Pretty. Spring Pink. Pink Roses. Pioneer in Pink. Apple Blossom Pink. Easter Rose.

I am so glad you are feeling better. You must have been busy, using all of those methods to get more comfortable. I’m not sure how you can sew with “razor blade slits” for eyes, but maybe by tomorrow…. Someone said your pretty blonde doll sold — more good news. Don’t forget to show us more pictures of the church project, even if you can’t share the work, and I’m absolutely confident that you shouldn’t. You did a lot before you got sick and that must have been a huge help, but your lungs need a break and taking care of yourself will pay off. Keep getting better.

    1. Thanks so much Marilyn,
It’s so nice to be sitting at this computer again… I haven’t made it to my sewing machine yet, but I’m getting close to it! :o) I WAS busy keeping up on all the remedies everyone sent me! I think a combination of all of it, and the prayers everyone was praying made this bearable…
It’s so nice to be loved and feel cared for. I wish that for everyone when they are sick…
Thanks for all the wonderful names you sent… I wrote them all down… I have quite a list going, even just for the color pink!
      Thanks so much,
      blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, I’m so glad that you are back, Jeanne, even though you have a ways to go yet. Doesn’t it feel wonderful when you start to perk up? I’m sure all of us are feeling better knowing that you are on the road to recovery!
Oh, that is a darling dress on Kirsten! The sweet roses on the hat, and the soft pinks certainly do Kirsten justice!
That is about the time I discovered AG dolls, but I hadn’t discovered you yet! That would have been sweet for a Valentine’s Day dress, spring dress, or even Easter dress. Maybe “Promises in Pink ” would be a good title to cover all the holidays.

And yes, like Marilyn says, we would love to see how the church kitchen is turning out. So just take care of yourself today, and before you know it, you will be back to your sewing room, making pretty dresses once again for all to see!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, it certainly is a wonderful feeling when you wake up that morning and realize you ARE going to make it…and this is on it’s way out of your system… Oh, I like Promises in Pink… and I added it to my list!.
The church kitchen is coming along… slowly… without me. We just got the “okay” from our Pastor on the cabinets we researched. Yay! He picked the ones I liked… so now I just have to get well enough to help George with them… he’s in there today doing more electrical wiring and outlets and sockets, etc… stuff he can do by himself for the most part… I’ll take some more pictures the next time I’m in there…

I’m going to try and work on Molly’s dress some today, if at all possible… I just need this nasty cough to go away… once it starts, it’s hard to stop… :o(
      Thanks Linda…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Charlotte Trayer

I’m so glad to hear you are on the mend, Jeanne! Hope the cold goes away, too!!

Oh, what a cute story for Kirsten, and such pretty fabrics you chose! Let’s see, names for it: Pink Posies, Candy Pink, Peppermint Pink (same idea), Pink Perfection, In the Pink…..I like Marilyn’s Apple Blossom Pink, too, although it seems like the apple blossoms I remember from my childhood were a little paler pink than this dress. Still, it does recall some lovely memories for me!

Take care of yourself now, and don’t worry about “missing” Valentine’s Day outfits this year; your health is more important! (And, when you are feeling better, Ten Ping is wondering when you’ll be doing something for her again!! No pressure, you understand!! Haha…)

    1. HI Charlotte,
Thanks for your sweet names for the dress too… I’ve got quite a list going now and I’ll have plenty of “pink” names to pick from for a long time!
I was thinking of Ten Ping the other day… she’s my littlest girl and it’s easy to overlook her… I won’t forget her!
      Thanks for your concern, Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. You didn’t miss Valentine’s Day; you are early for Easter! So glad you are feeling better. Don’t overdo! I like Charlotte’s idea of the name “In the pink.” It’s kind of a quiet nod to you being sick and now feeling better.
Hope you have a good (but still restful) day!
    Take care —

    1. HI Charlotte,
Oh, I like that… I’m not late for Valentine’s Day, I’m early for Easter!!! LOVE IT !
I am just resting… no relapses!!!!
      Thank you Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Pink works every month of the year! This bright pink looks like Spring.. I didn’t get anything done for Valentines Day either. Shooting for a specific holiday day doesn’t usually happen for me either:)
So glad to read that you are feeling better !!

    1. HI Shara,
Oh, good… I’m not the only one who didn’t conquer Valentine’s Day like I wanted! Sometimes the pressure of a holiday makes it worse…it’s just better to make pretty dresses… ALL THE TIME !
      Thanks so much Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Kirsten and the ducks is adorable. I agree that pink can be worn most of the year and that the pink and white for Molly would work perfectly for Easter.
Pink was my Grandmother Margaret’s favorite color. I remember a beautiful pink suit she made and wore on special occasions. Definitely Pink Playfulness.
Guess when I clicked on your blond #22, I thought she had sold. She is a beautiful doll. Hope someone decides to give her a wonderful home.
Glad you are getting better, but watch out for setbacks. Hope Susette feels better soon too.

    1. Hi Joy,
I added Pink Playfulness to my list… Thanks! It’s fun that you can remember a specific pink suit that your grandmother made and wore… It must have made a really deep impression on you!
No dolly sale yet, but I know she will…
I didn’t give it to Susette… but I do hope she’s better too!
      Thanks so much Joy,
      blessings, Jeanne

  7. Another reader here who’s glad you’re feeling somewhat better, Jeanne. Do take care.

    “Playful Pink”?

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you, Becky… for your well wishes and your name… Playful Pink!” Wow… you guys all really came through with the pink names for me. I’m set!
      Thanks again Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. So glad to hear you are on the “mend”. As someone said, be careful not to overdue. I can only imagine how you feel with a cold settling in your eyes. Your eyes must be so tender.

Kirsten’s pink dress is just delightful. All the names suggested are great. Because of Kirsten, Pioneer Pink is kind of my logical thought. The pink outfit is a luscious pink. I like the solid pink pinafore over her lovely printed dress. Her little ducks in the basket are so cute.

Stay well and rest as much as you can.

    1. HI Paula,
You don’t have to worry about me overdoing it… my “overdu-er” is out of order! I’m taking it very easy…
The thing with my eyes is… I wear hard contacts, so the cold in my eyes just irritates my contacts.. I hate glasses…
Thanks for your name for the set too… and yes, aren’t those duckies adorable… I think I got those at Pier One one time…
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Dear Jeanne, as always, we were just sitting on the sofa drinking tea waiting for you to return and share more stories about what you are up to. We are so glad you are back! Here, let me pour you some tea (smile).

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
Yes, I’ll take some hot tea! Your comments made me smile… just the thought of you sitting on the couch waiting for my return… AWWWW… Dorothy! :o)
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Hi Dorothy,
I saw your comment about not bonding with a doll . I’ve only had that happen once. I bought an Elizabeth after seeing Jeanne’s wonderful Regency and Colonial dresses and also because I am particularly fond of pincurls/tendrils on dolls. Elizabeth is a beautiful doll, but I could make her fit even though I already had Felicity ( completely canon) as well as Samantha and Nellie. I ended up selling her after just a few months and bought Caroline instead who I absolutely love. Sometimes is just the matter of putting the dolls into a different wardrobe and, in my case, renaming my Caroline and subsequent Marie-Grace, and making them my Civil War girls . Renaming and creating my own character/backstory makes them both strong dolls in my collection. Really an outfit change works wonders. Caroline in Kirsten’s work dress and MG in Addy’s striped dress and they both just came alive. I also know customizing a doll changes things as well. My renamed Nellie wears #33’s wig and is my time traveler (Pioneer, Civil War, Victorian/Edwardian and 1930s).

      1. Laura, thanks for your comments. I asked that question on the Iplehouse Doll Club website. I thought I was the only one who ever had a “bonding” issue. I guess we always think that we are alone with our challenges until we talk with others. I appreciate you sharing.

  10. Hi Jeanne,
I’m so glad to hear you’re on the mend. I pray that cough you have doesn’t hang on to long. I’m sorry you didn’t get your Valentine day dress finished in time but there is always next year.
    “Cozy in Pink Posies”
    Blessings
    Ingrid

    1. Thanks so much Ingrid…
I like your name… it’s on the list now!
I am on the mend… a kitchen remodel and my sewing can’t keep me down too long… I have to be either sewing or sawing! :o)
There’s Easter too! Maybe it’ll work for that!
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Welcome back, Jeanne! So glad your strength is returning and you are at your computer again. Try not to do too much during your recovery. There still is plenty of time for designing spring dresses like this lovely one of Kirsten’s. As for a name, the ladies have offered some excellent ideas. I especially like “Apple Blossom Pink.” I have two more possibilities. How about “First Blush of Spring,” or “Sweet Prairie Rose?”

We’ve missed you terribly, Jeanne, and are thrilled to see you’ve returned, but we know you need to take it easy moving forward. Don’t worry about a strict sewing schedule. Be kind to yourself, and keep using every treatment and remedy at your disposal. I know I speak for all of us in wishing you a speedy recovery on the road back to complete health and hoping every day finds positive signs of improvement. Sending hugs and blessings to our dear “friend on the mend!”

    1. Thank you sweet Anne,
I appreciate and am humbled by everyone’s kind thoughts toward me… it’s no fun to be sick, but if you have to, at least have friends like I do who wish you all the best! :o) I am getting better… almost by the hour… it seems. I’m down to a hacky cough and a headache in the back of my head…
I’ve missed you all TOO… writing this blog is sort of like therapy for me… I love to write the posts, and I love to read what you comment about the posts… it’s become part of my life now and I miss it when I don’t do it each day. So see, I miss you all too!

I like you names you thought of… and added them to my ever growing list… Sweet Prairie Rose is exceptionally sweet sounding!

There isn’t a strict sewing schedule… you don’t have to worry about that… but I am itching to get in there and see what kind of damage I can do! :o)
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. I love pink but haven’t come up with anything original… I rember the color of my Moms kitchen paint was called Cotton Candy Pink… maybe wrap some poly fiberfill on a cone and spray it pink for an accessory? Then the dress could be any pink print ?
Glad you tried the sinus rinse… I use it after working in the yard when pollen or ragweed are in season too. Stay warm and don’t do too much yet. You don’t want s relapse ?

    1. HI Kathie,
I like the idea of the cotton candy and of course, the name would HAVE to be Cotton Candy Pink! :o) It could be a really cute accessory… at a fair maybe?
Yes, that Neil Med stuff really cleans you out… :o) I had forgotten about it.. .but we had 2 boxes of it…
Oh, I’m not doing TOO much.. .maybe too little… but anyway, my hubby said it’s okay!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. So glad that you are feeling somewhat better, Jeanne. Take it easy though until you are 100%.
Awww< Kirsten is sweet as can be in her dress and bonnet. I just love the baby ducks, too precious. I would have named it Sweet Prairie Rose which I see Anne thought of as well or Pioneer Dreams to reference Kirsten's desire to help with the family's income.
Hope we see that Civil War dress Paula and I had in mind after you finish Molly's.

    1. HI Laura,
You just might see that pink and white Civil War dress after Molly’s… I haven’t been able to quit thinking about it since it was brought up! :o)
I AM taking it easy… it’s not hard to do!
Thanks Laura… and thanks for replying to Dorothy’s comments… such an encourager, you are!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. I’m glad you are feeling well enough to join us again! I love Kirsten’s dress, but I am quite partial to pink, and those baby ducks are so cute. I’m not good with names, but I enjoy reading everyone else’s suggestions!

    1. Thanks so much, Carolyn,
No one is as excited for me to be feeling well again as I AM! It was a rough couple of days, but I know there are lots of people who have had it much worse than I have… I feel for them!
I’m glad you liked Kirsten’s dress and ducks set… it’s hard not to like pink, isn’t it?
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
