If you guessed American Girl Saige, you were right!

Some of you knew immediately that my “hints” were of Saige. Her long auburn hair and her unique turquoise eyes were a dead giveaway…if you were familiar with American Girl dolls. If I’m not mistaken, I believe Saige is the only doll with those color of eyes and hair too.

My pictures will enlarge if you click on them.

I managed to get her dress set finished and thought I’d show you. This is an original pattern of mine and I think it looks so flattering on Saige. The skirt part of the dress is slightly flared so it skims the dolls body and then when the double ruffles were added, they helped hold the bottom of the skirt out, making it even more flattering.

I searched everywhere in my sewing “stuff” tying to find a piece of suede or rawhide that I could use for a belt, but finally ended up running to Hobby Lobby and picked up a package of dark brown leather strips to use. The belt just sits on her hips and hangs down in front weighted by the metal “concho” (button). If you choose, you can leave the belt off entirely. I had some extra leather, and just wrapped it around Scout’s neck. I’ll send it along with the dress for the winner to use on Saige’s braids if you want, or just keep it wrapped around Scout’s neck.

I like her boots too!

I think Saige looks wonderful in this dress and I’d almost like to have one like it for myself!

Thanks for looking…

See you tomorrow,

  1. Oh Jeanne, so very CUTE!! I love it and the whole presentation is just adorable! Who’s idea was that to fix her hair in French braids? That just seals the deal, and you still see her long, curly red hair! It looks like a little Rebecca! The dress is just adorable and the belt works so well. Well, you just outdo yourself every time!!

    1. Morning Linda,
Thank you so much Linda! I’m glad you like Saige’s new outfit. She says it was her idea and I say it was mine…so…
I was going to braid them all the way down, but those curls just wanted to show, so I stopped halfway… I’ve done Rebecca’s this way before and it’s really cute.
Thanks for your kind compliments… I don’t know why she’s stood on my shelf naked for so long… not any more!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. That dress is PERFECT for Saige! What a cute design, Jeanne. The little ruffle at the hem and on bodice, belt, puffed sleeves all are perfect for her southwestern, but girly personality. How nice to include the boots too. I don’t think I have ever seen Saige looking so cute. And, she comes along with her new puppy. Adorableness!!!

    1. HI Cindy,
Thank you so much for your comments on Saige’s dress. It was a fun one to make and I think it really suits Saige’s personality. She has been naked way too long after seeing her in this one. I thought everything I made for her had to include a cowgirl hat, but I realized it doesn’t.
Thanks so much and have a wonderful weekend. I hope it’s going to be nice for you up north.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Now, Jeanne, if you had just colored the stitching on the boots with a turquoise marker……
Just kidding! It’s perfect the way it is. I really like the detail on the front of the bodice, something you can do with bigger dolls; it would be hard to do on Ten Ping. Speaking of Ten Ping, what’s she been up to lately? I’ve found that mine likes to climb. I’ve been working on a knitting pattern for little slippers, got it just about right.

    1. HI Jevne,
I never thought about coloring the stitching…but you may have given me something to think about… hmmmm….
I would hate to think of making that placket on Ten Pings dress for sure.
I’ve found 2 pair of shoes and ordered them… I went with the 30mm size and hope it’s right.
I’ve got to mail off the pink and black set today. The lady who won it was thrilled!
I think I have an email from you that is unanswered…I’ll get to it.
I haven’t checked your dress on Ebay lately, but I hope it sells.
Well, I have a busy day lined up…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. In case tomorrow flies by…Have a Wonderful Mother’s Day!
Saige is the prettiest AG doll I’ve seen. Her hair is so cute…I may try that look on my granddaughter that has hair that thick and that long.
I saw Jevne’s comment on the stitching…actually I thought the stitching was lt blue..in the first pic it looks like it. She will appeal to all the little girls who are horse crazy…it seems they all go thru that at one time or another.
    Another darling outfit!

    1. Thanks so much Kathie,
After Jevne said that about coloring the stitching, I can’t quit thinking about it. I may have to go to Hobby Lobby and get another pair of boots just to give it a try!
I still french braid “my” Rebecca’s hair like this sometimes… it’s a very sweet style.
I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day as well.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Saige is so pretty, her eyes are perfect for the southwest outfit and her hair is such a pretty color. Speaking of Ten Ping, I purchased a pair of shoes for in the 33mm size and they are a bit big but they will work with socks.

  6. Diana Jenness

I love this dress on Saige–the colors are just perfect. I didn’t realize that she has turquoise eyes. I lived in the Southwest for many years, so I love the detailing on this dress. We lived in Northern Arizona and taught school on the Navajo reservation. The Navajos wore the silver jewelry and conchos for everyday wear.
