“I Spy” in Linda’s Doll house….

My family is still here visiting so I was thrilled when Linda sent me some pictures that I can share with you today. She has the most darling doll house filled with every kind of trinket you can think of…Just take a look…

Okay, so now for some Saturday fun… “I Spy” a:

~ Upright “Kirby?” vacuum
~ Mousetrap
~ White Volkswagon toy car
~ Blue bear in a pink drawer
~ box of Corn Flakes
~ Sleeping Kitty
~ Box of Tide
~ Picture of horses
~ Pink hat on a hat stand
~ Sailboat
~ Card of buttons
~ Pin cushion
~ Plunger
~ Tennis rackets

See if you can find them all…

You’ll have to click each picture to see it larger…and then you can hold down “control” (bottom left key on your keyboard) and then hit the “+” key right next to the backspace key on the top right row of numbers. I clicked it twice to see everyone as big as I could.

Well, how’d you do? Find them all?

Have a wonderful Saturday,
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh, wow, Jeanne! Thank you for showing off my dollhouse that was so fun to put together! My mother won this maybe, 30 years ago at a craft fair in some little town outside of St. Louis. It was plain brown, and did have a few pieces of furniture, but I did most everything to it that you see now. I decided to go with a farmhouse red for the outside because it was, after all, a farmhouse! The white trim makes it pop, and it certainly cheers up the room where I have most of my dolls. When I started trying to fillit up, dollhouse collecting was pretty popular, so I didn’t have a lot of trouble finding furniture and asscessories. We had a store, which has since closed, Ben Franklin Crafts, which had a lot of things, Hobby Lobby, which still has doll house items, Michael’s, and JoAnn’s. Sometimes people would find things and bring them to me when they knew I was putting it together. Ebay helped with a few items too. It certainly was fun, and I fix it up at Christmas with little wreaths on the windows and roping, plus a Christmas tree. I have a sled up by the door now, and in the spring and summer have plants on the front porch too.

Thank you again for showing it off for me, and you know what? I FOUND everything!! LOL

Thinking of you and your family. Prayers, peace and love!

  2. The magazine rack! The quilt! The baker’s rack! The clock! The framed photos! That is a wonderful dolls’ house and Jeanne did a great job of enlarging the photos. Many thanks to you both.
If you love things like this and are ever close to the Chicago Art Institute, go in and see the miniature rooms. https://smile.amazon.com/Miniature-Rooms-Thorne-Institute-Chicago/dp/0896594084/ref=pd_sim_14_21?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=0896594084&pd_rd_r=YP75WSREWE7E03RQCNNM&pd_rd_w=zPjWr&pd_rd_wg=xWtn2&psc=1&refRID=YP75WSREWE7E03RQCNNM

A famous dolls’ house: https://smile.amazon.com/Queens-Dolls-House-Dollhouse-Queen/dp/1905686269/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1486206519&sr=1-1&keywords=queen+mary%27s+dollhouse+books There are other books about Queen Mary’s dollhouse, some for less than dollar.

And here’s another famous one https://smile.amazon.com/Stettheimer-Dollhouse-Sheila-W-Clark/dp/0764948024/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1486206877&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=stetinheimer+doll+house which contains tiny original works of art from the maker’s artist friends.

  3. Thank you for highlighting Linda’s doll house today. It’s wonderful! Additional thanks to Linda for sharing more of its history too. I love miniatures so this was a real prize today. I have not found everything yet but I plan to keep coming back to the page until I find everything.
    Take care.

  4. I know what I’m going to do this afternoon, since it is raining yet again, view an amazing doll house. What fun. Thank you to Linda for the photos and Jeanne for letting us see them.
Hoping assisted living works for your mother. They usually allow a trial period, but I think with the activities, routine, and people she will like it. In our case, my mother in law’s room was already decorated and lovely so all we had to add were a lot of family photos. In others, you can bring along their own furniture from home. Thoughts with you and family and know this is a wonderful next step.
On another note, tonight is the annual Crab Feed! Can’t wait. Love crab and seeing all of the regulars.

  5. What a wonderful wonderful doll house!! Thank you both,Linda for sending your pictures and for Jeanne in sharing them with us.
Finding items for this house must have been fun. I like that it is a red farm house and there are so many things to look at.

Well, time to look for the list of items Jeanne posted!

  6. What a beautiful dollhouse you have, Linda. So glad to get to see it. I love all the little details you have in it. The quilt on the bed and crocheted dust ruffle are just darling.
Those little wooden blocks and the stacking rings in the children’s room are so cute.
Love the treadle sewing machine and dress form and that cute pincushion. You have a vacuum cleaner! The baker’s rack is great as well as the little fan, you certainly have a well stocked kitchen. I like your medicine cabinet with it’s little jars etc. You even have a toilet plunger.LOL
Oh, the bubblegum machine and the little mouse, so many, many sweet things. I am going to star this email so that I can enjoy your dollhouse again and again. I love miniatures as well, maybe why I was fascinated with the PC stuff- dollhouse on a slightly larger scale.

  7. My favorite is the toy airplane hanging from the ceiling. What a wonderful dollhouse! It really must have been fun collecting all the little things and especially having people bring things for it. Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us.

I have to share my luck. I had an email from Muzeo.org in Anaheim, California, yesterday which was offering tickets to the only exhibit of Downton Abbey clothes except when it appeared at Winterthur Museum in Delaware which stated it wouldn’t be traveling. This museum, which I had not even heard of, is just ten miles from my home. I have my ticket already. Can’t wait to see the 40 outfits. Someone must have some pull to get this exhibit here.

    1. Oh, congrats, Susette. You will have so much fun seeing those. I really had hoped that Downton Abbey would spark some Titanic era fashions to make a comeback, not as lovely as Civil War or Edwardian, but at least pretty- hats and gloves = my cup of tea.

  8. Linda’s dollhouse is lovely. So many cute little things to look at, and I was able to find everything on the list.

I have to say I am a little envious of Suzette. The main thrill of Downton Abbey, at least for me, was studying all the fabulous costumes. I often had to watch episodes a second time to pay attention to the plot since I was too wrapped up in costume details the first time. Getting to see them in person is a fabulous opportunity!

    1. Hi Theresa,
I wanted to answer you…I saw your note to me but somehow can’t find it again. I wanted to thank you for your offer of loaning me your Boneka doll but that is too scary to me. I look back at keeping my friend’s Nyssa doll and wonder what I was thinking. I appreciate your very kind offer but “think” my wait might be over. I’ll keep you posted…
Thanks for the ebay link…she’s a cutie and I appreciate you looking out for a doll for me.
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. No problem, Jeanne – I check ebay a couple of times a day for new Effner stuff, and happened to see her this evening. Didn’t know if you were still looking, and if you were, if you would have caught it since the word “Boneka” isn’t in the listing heading. Anyway, I was happy to offer mine as a loan if you needed a “fix” until you were able to get one of your own. 🙂 I hope your wait is over!

    2. Thank you, Theresa. I’ve been wanting to see one. That linked to another for twice as much, but at least it was interesting to see. I do love Boneka clothes and all the embroidery.

I agree with Carolyn — I envy Susette a chance to see those clothes. It would be nice if they had influenced fashion, but I’d settle for DA bringing back a fashion for tea. I will bet that Susette will take pictures if they are allowed.

And now the important question in my mind — WHERE IS THE MOUSE?

      1. HI Marilyn,
I’m worried that you haven’t found the mouse yet… I’ll give you a hint… if you find the gumball machine, you’ll find the mouse!
        ~ Jeanne

  9. Charlotte Trayer

What a fun challenge today! I did find all the items, fairly quickly, but a couple were really challenging, like the VW bug car (only partly shown!) and the box of Tide (which, as I think of it now, was really pretty obvious, and right in front of my nose, so to speak, but maybe Too close for me to see?!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  10. Thanks to Jeanne and Susette for their mouse hints. I’ll bet Queen Mary’s doll house does not have a gum ball machine or a mouse.
Chandeliers are nice, but they aren’t everything.
