I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this little pink hat!

I had a super busy day and I never stepped into my sewing room until almost 10:00 tonight. I had finished something last night that I wanted to share with you, but I was also hoping to get something else finished…to go with it…didn’t happen! :o( I know, I know, I am sad just like you are, but hey, there’s always tomorrow…so we’ll see what Tuesday holds for me…

Okay, so here’s what I made last evening… a sweet pink straw hat decorated with pretty pink and red paper roses. Isabelle said it was her turn and she’s probably right… Lian piped up and said, “Hey, but I look good in pinks too…” I told her it was Isabelle’s turn and Isabelle looked at me with those brown eyes of hers and said, “Okay, can I put the hat on now?” Sure…so here she is…looking about as darling as a Little Darling can!

My lighting wasn’t very good but it is the prettiest pink straw…like what you’ll see on the fabric. I wish you could see it in person…it’s just so adorable. I keep picking it up and holding it in the palm of my hand… *sigh*

And what do you think was my inspiration for the hat? Why this pretty pink and red cotton print, of course…

Why so many pictures of the same hat, you ask? Because that’s ALL I have to show…

Maybe I’ll have more time in my sewing room tomorrow…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    It is truly adorable, Jeanne!!

Do you have fabric chosen for a dress to go with it? Inquiring minds want to know!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I was trying to be subtle, but I guess I was a little TOO much… The fabric the hat’s sitting on, is the fabric for Isabelle’s next dress.
It’s always fun when inquiring minds want to know!

Oh, well….Duh!! I didn’t even think about that possibility! I just figured you did like I do–lay out some fabric, set the thing on it and take a picture!! LOL

        1. Hi Charlotte,
Well it was fun to see your response and I’m glad to have surprised you!
          Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh my goodness, Jeanne, don’t feel that is not enough to tempt us and get our minds going about what this darling creation will be! That is such a pretty pink straw hat, and I was wondering what inspired you, then the fabric showed up and oh, what a sweet pattern it is! I can’t wait to see what comes next, and I know it’s going to be a winner! It just made my day to think about it! I can just see the Easter Bunny hopping around, wanting to add Easter eggs to her little basket!

    1. HI Linda,
I’ve had this fabric for a few months and have been wanting to use it for a sweet doll dress. I had some pink paper roses, but recently found some red ones and instantly knew what I was going to do with them.
It certainly would have made a lovely Valentine’s Day dress, but *alas* Valentine’s Day is over for this year, so we move onto Easter. It will make a pretty Easter dress, I’m pretty sure.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. The hat is so pretty!! It has just a touch of nostalgia to it. And the fabric is a perfect coordinate with the hat! Those two items certainly get me excited about your next outfit. Oh, and we cannot forget your precious little model. She certainly does the hat justice.
I hope you have a great day!
    Take care.

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
Every time I make one of these hats, I think it’s my favorite…till I make the next one… but I really do like this one very much!
Isn’t Isabelle just the sweetest thing? I think she’ll make a great model for this set… she’s very excited to be up on the cutting table!
Thanks Charlotte and I hope your day is lovely too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. So is this darling hat made with a mold? glued? Love it with the flowers which match your fabric perfectly. Isabelle will be the head of the Easter Parade.
It’s not raining! Yet. Neighbors cat came over this morning for the first time in days. She was happy to see us.

    1. HI Joy,
Yes, this hat is made with a mold.. and about 5 years of straw braid, wrapped round and round and round… it’s only 1/4″ wide, so it’s lots of “rounds!”
I was so excited when I realized I had the pink flowers and then found some red ones that matched it exactly. Since I missed Valentine’s Day with this one, it will definitely be in the running for an Easter hat.
Oh, poor little kitty. I hope it stays dry for your guys for a little while, at least!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Been looking at lots of hat molds. Is the LD size you have 043? Maybe it is larger because it takes more braid I think. Do you also use the stiffener or perhaps it isn’t necessary with the braid. I wonder if you can use Aileen’s Turbo Tacky Glue? Lots of questions here before I decide to order. Looks like they are available at quite a few places as well as ebay.

        1. Hi Joy,
Yes, the hat mold I got from Pnb is the 043 one. I bought the kit from Nelly and picked the mint braid. I haven’t seen any molds for the Little Darlings but I did buy some Sculpey and am going to try making my own hat mold for my little Noel. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
You don’t even want to know how many times I debated about getting that hat mold…many is an understatement…
I really liked the glue that came with my kit but lady night I used the Aleene’s turbo tacky glue as you mentioned and it seemed to work fine. I wish I knew what she used though…I think it was thicker and better.
Well let me know if you take the plunge…
          Blessings, Jeanne

          1. Thank you! I wasn’t sure I had the right size as I simply adore your hat. I know, you can sell hats on your etsy site. I don’t see that many for sale on ebay. Then you could sell completed hat bands as extras. Just a crazy thought. Oh, you could do special orders for hats to match outfits…
It appears the molds are available at many other places now. However, all are the same price. ?? There are several molds for LD’s now. But, I’m sure yours would be a much better fit. Sounds like a fun project.
P.S. Kitties ate three times today. Very hungry.

  5. That hat and fabric are just lovely. Would have made a perfect Valentine’s dress, but will make a beautiful Easter dress also. Busy day so I’ve got to run. Will enjoy seeing what you do tomorrow.

    1. Hi Laura,
Yes, this would have made a perfectly sweet Valentine’s Day dress, but I wasn’t able to get it done then, so now it’s becoming an Easter dress. Hope it works out for that!
Have a wonderful day running around. I know how those days go!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Laura is right — this would be a lovely dress for Valentine’s or Easter. It would also be fine for a summer birthday. It’s an altogether useful dress. The hat is so cute. It will be great inspiration. The dress has to live up to it, but you can meet that challenge.
Congratulations on the beautiful lavender dress auction. I was cheering it on and it did very well. It looks to me like this one will do the same.
Before I forget, what is the name of the product that removes stains from doll skin? Josefina’s boot (not an AG product) has left black marks on her foot.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Well, since I missed the Valentine deadline, I guess this is up for an Easter set! I don’t think Isabelle will mind. She’s enjoying standing up on my cutting table.
I have a dress in mind and hope I can pull it off…
Thanks for the cheering on “Springtime in the South.” The woman who won it was absolutely beside herself at winning it. I was happy for her!

Marilyn, the products I used on removing the stains was from the Twin Pines Company…Here is their link…

      Twin Pines Products

You would need the “Remove-Zit” and the Formula 911 to get the Remove-Zit off. It will set you back $40.
For a small stain, you might also try OXY products… it’s for acne but it works for stains on dolls. You
dab some on the stain, wrap the dolls leg in saran wrap and place the doll in the sunlight. Check it each day, wiping it off and applying more if you need to. It’s much cheaper so you might start with it first. I hope that helps.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. The hat is just darling. Where do you find the tiny roses? Is the hat machine-sewn? It’s really the cutest thing and the fabric is wonderful too. I don’t seem to find prints that small at the Joanne’s here. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi Susette,
I got the paper roses from Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook in and paper section. Thanks for the compliment on her hat.
The hat is made on a plaster mold and you take straw braid and wrap it around and around, gluing it as you go. It takes 5-10 yards per hat…you can see them at pnbdoll.com
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Spring is in the air with this charming floral print, Jeanne! It is so dainty and sweet, and the pink straw hat with the pretty paper roses will make a lovely Easter bonnet. Isabelle looks adorable in her topper, and I’m sure she is enjoying every minute on the cutting table! I can’t wait to see the dress you will make to go with it. It’s sure to delight us and make your other girls just a bit jealous until their turns come! Happy designing, and see you tomorrow!

    1. Hi Anne,
Yes, Spring is in the air around here…in the upper 60’s again today. The hat is the daintiest thing you’ve ever seen. I’d like whole bunch of them on display somewhere.
I’m working on the dress tonight so I will have something to show.
Thanks so much for your sweet compliments on my little pink hat!
      Blessings, Jeanne
