I had good intentions…Maryellen’s dress set is almost finished…

Really, I did have good intentions on getting my new dress for Maryellen finished and listed on Ebay tonight. But it didn’t happen. Hopefully tomorrow, and I hate to leave you with some “teasers” but that’s what I’m going to have to do.

I was working on some last minute handwork things when my mom called. My uncle was in the hospital, so my hubby and I went up to see him. Just as we got there, we heard a Code Blue over the hospital intercom and hoped it wasn’t his room… well, it was… we never got to see him before they put a tube down his throat and now he’s in a medically induced coma for…we don’t know how long…

I did want to share the bottom of my Kuhn Rikon Pressure cooker with you…

Now it looks like it’s a mess, but it’s stainless steel and cleans up like a charm… YAY! I made some chicken breasts first, and then I got brave and made some herb roasted potatoes. Both things were delish! My hubby looked in the pot with “that look”… you know… I told him it took ten minutes to do the potatoes but it’d take an hour to scrub out the pot… No it won’t! It was all new to me and I wanted to make sure I did everything right… so we didn’t eat lunch till 2:15!! My sister tells me I’ll get faster…

Okay, who went out looking for that White Coconut Candy Bar today??? Come on, fess up! I know you’re out there. All your comments cracked me up…

Alright, are we ready to get serious about Maryellen’s dress now? I hope you can use your imagination on this one, because you’ll need it. I have to tell you, Eden looks especially charming as my 50’s girl. I’m thrilled…and even with that red ribbon just tied in her hair (for now…) she looks so sweet. Just think of this as a jig saw puzzle and a few of the pieces are missing…

  1. Jeanne, first of all, I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. Prayers are in store for your family in the hopes that whatever happens is the best for him and all of you.

Second, gee, you have your big meal early! We have ours at 5 or so on Sunday, so 2;30 seems early for me. I know though that some people have their big dinner for Sunday around that time though, and I guess you are one of those people! I remember my mother putting a roast in the oven right before we went to church and then by the time we got home it was close to being done and she would start fixing everything else, so we ate early in the afternoon too. We go to church at 8:00 now, so that won’t do for us!

Oh, that pot looks terrible! Did you get it all cleaned out? What did you have to do?

That dress looks absolutely adorable, and the crinoline too! Hey, where ARE those crinolines that you had in your shop? They are all gone and I wanted one!! I love the cheery colors of that dress and can’t wait to see how it looks finished. That last picture is a bit of a puzzle to me. Where does that go on the dress? Oh, now that I look more, maybe that isn’t the dress after all! Well, I guess I will find out tomorrow!

    1. HI Linda,
      Thanks for your prayers…

We usually have lunch on Sundays sometime between 12 and 1:00, but not yesterday… it’s fine… it was good and my hubby had a “peanut butter sandwich appetizer” to hold him over…

Yes, my pot is sparking clean and in just a few minutes… it’s wonderful!

I have sold out of all my slips, but I’ve got some more on the way…If you look at the Sold things you can see which ones I’ve sold… did you have a certain one in mind?

I told you it was a puzzle… you’ll see the answer tomorrow…hopefully…I’m frantically working on it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Jeanne, I wanted the white/ivory slip. I already bought Maryellen’s pink one, so a white one is what I need.

Your Eden looks so much like my Ruthie, but of course, Ruthie has lined eyebrows. She certainly does look striking in many outfits.

  2. So sorry to hear about your uncle. I, too, hope for the best for him and all the family.

I think I see part of a book bag in the last photo. Beautiful finishing on the cuffs and band on the skirt.

The pot just needs water and pretend one is deglazing with the pan on the stove and all of that will come right off. Alternatively, water and a squirt of dishwashing liquid and let it sit until after dinner. It is a beautiful piece of equipment. Thanks for the tip.

    1. Thank you Susette,
You’ve got some sharp eyes there!!!
My pot is all bright and shiny…just like new again… and it was super easy.
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. So sorry to hear about your uncle. I will say a few prayers for him.

With that red ribbon in her hair, she reminds me of Snow White. Can’t wait to see the full outfit. 🙂

    1. Thank you Christine,
I took my hubby in my sewing room and showed Eden to him and then I told him what you said about Eden looking like Snow White. He said, “Her complexion isn’t fair enough!” :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. So sorry to hear about your uncle. I am sure the hospital staff is keeping him comfortable. I am praying for him.
Your Sunday dinner sounds yummy and looks like your new pressure cooker did a good job. I agree with soaking it in sudsy water.
The dress Eden is wearing is adorable. The black with the red and white is so vivid. Can’t wait to see it done. Yay!!
    Blessings!

    1. Thanks so much Paula,
Our dinner was wonderful… I have so many things I want to try, I can’t decide what to make for dinner tonight… either black beans or a meat loaf… hmmm…
The pot is clean as a whistle now and was super easy to clean…it looks brand new again.
I’m hoping to get Eden’s dress finished and hopefully listed on Ebay…at least that’s my plan.
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Jeanne I am very sorry to hear about your Uncle. Will say prayers for him. The new dress looks amazing in your sneak peek photos. Look forward to seeing the finished look.
    God Bless
    Marsha

    1. HI Marsha,
I really hated to show just those few snippets but I had to… I didn’t want to show it “almost” finished like I did the last dress. I’m really hoping to get it finished…
      Thanks so much, Marsha,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. I’ll be keeping him in my prayers.
Your pressure cooker looks like a lot of fun. I have a slow cooker I use for things in the winter, but I know a pressure cooker does things a lot faster.
Eden is a perfect 1950’s girl and i can’t wait to see her finished dress. Maryellen is cute and I know her bangs are that way because she cuts them herself. My daughter is thinking about if she wants her. I would have been more pleased about her if she had had gray eyes, but you can always give her an eyeswap.

    1. Hi Laura,
      Thanks for your prayers.
I’ve only used the pressure cooker for 2 things but I’m going to use it more. I’m going to give it a real workout. I have 3 crock pots in various sizes and we use them a lot. In fact, Rebecca has chicken cooking in one right now.
I think Eden will make a really sweet 50’s girl. My aunt decided to get Maryellen, so I may be making a little trip to her house when she gets her. I’d like to see her in person for myself.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Jeanne, I am so sorry about your uncle, praying for him and your family. I think the 50’s dress will be adorable. Eden looks very sweet!

  8. Marilyn Grotzky

I’m wishing the best for your uncle. My circle is full of people with health problems and they are all getting better. My 96 year old aunt who just had a heart attack is being sent home, she’s doing so well. A friend who had leukemia is testing free of it after many procedures. There are several others also turning corners.
There are times in life when dinner at noon and sewing charming outfits have to wait their turn.

    1. HI Marilyn,
How right you are about things having to wait for the more urgent things in life. My mom was just here and they are going to take my uncle off the ventilator tomorrow I think.
It really is true…when you have your health, you have just about everything…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I’m so sorry about your uncle, Jeanne, I will include him in my prayers.

I think I can put the jigsaw puzzle together. I’ve seen those red tabs before and I love them. I don’t think I’ll be too surprised when I see the finished outfit.

A new pan can’t look perfect forever, at some point you get it dirty. I must say it looks like it would be pretty hard to clean, but a short soak in hot water does wonders.

    1. Thank you Jevne,
You must be a puzzle “doer…” I hope you like the final look when you see it.

It came clean in about 2 minutes… it was amazing… I may have to show a picture of the before and after…it’s just like new again…
      Thanks, Jevne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Jeanne, I love a good puzzle. The red dotted tab has me intrigued can’t wait to see how it will come together. Love the color palette and all….Lynn

    1. HI Lynn,
Oh goody…. someone is stumped by my “puzzle pictures!” I hope you like the finished look when you see it tomorrow.
Thanks for the compliments…on something you don’t even know what it looks like…. :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Gosh, sorry about your Uncle! Sounds pretty serious.
I didn’t look for the Candy bar….yet. Did you say where it came from?
Details of Mary Ellen’s outfit look pretty adorable..so can’t wait to see the rest!

    1. HI Kathie,
Yes, it is serious… in fact I guess it’s deadly… tomorrow they are going to take him off the ventilator and they said there’s virtually no chance of him breathing on his own. So….

The candy bar came from Walgreens… you and Bobbie are going to give it a try. She’s getting one tomorrow…

I’ve got it all done!!! Yay! I’m so excited to show everyone…

ALSO… I received a birthday card in the mail from you today… It was so sweet and I love the lace you sent. I’ll be using that for sure on some slips! Thank you so much, Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
