I am truly blessed….

Last night I was surprised with a birthday celebration from some friends… I was under the impression it was going to be Leann and Sarah and me… but when I arrived at McAlister’s there was Beth, HoChung, Kira, Norma, Beth S., and Karen! They all came to celebrate my birthday and we had the best time… eating some yummy food, having wonderful laughs, a few tears, slices of red velvet cake, sharing stories, opening gifts and many hugs! I am truly blessed to have such wonderful, caring friends.

I wanted to show you what I was blessed with….

It doesn’t matter what age you turn, even if it’s 60, what really counts is how many friends you have. I have plenty and am so thankful for each and every one of them…

Thank you dear ladies… at McAlister’s and here on my blog… You have all made turning 60 pretty painless.

My sewing room is ready to see some action and so am I… let’s get something started, what do you say?

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Happy Birthday again! What a nice party and what nice people. I love the paper clips, and the flower and berry wreath card deserves a frame. It looks as if you got three sets of pretty dishtowels. I have a friend who turned 70 and asked, “Where do you get dishtowels?” and I said, “You don’t buy them, your mother gives them to you for your birthday.” She said, “Yes, I know. But what if you need more?” Can you imagine never having to buy dishtowels in 70 years because you could count on your mother keeping you supplied? She had a lovely mother, and not just for the dishtowels.

What is in the pretty jar with the berries? I love all the tiny things that will go on doll outfits. Are the “Spare Parts” in neutral colors decorations that could go on doll shoes? The ribbon scrap pack looks so useful for sleeve trim. What thoughtful friends you have. How nice that at least sometimes you get what you deserve.

    1. HI Marilyn,
We had so much fun and it’s always a treat when we can all get together…
I liked your story about the daughter who never had to buy dishtowels… :o)

The jar had jam in it… made from blueberries and red raspberries. I just had some on toast and it was tasty!
I’m sure the trinkety things will work my my dolls…either on accessories or decorating props to use… I haven’t opened the packages yet to see what is all in there…

I added a picture of my cake too… Marilyn, it was store bought but it was delicious!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Another “Happy Birthday” coming from me, Jeanne! You certainly have had a lot to celebrate this past few days, and it’s no surprise that others are thinking fondly of you. You have brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, and you are reaping what you have sown! I guess I could also write “sewn”!!!
The flowers are so pretty, and all the sweet little gifts you received will be cherished, I’m sure. Everything you received is so useful, and that little book on the right says it all!

    1. HI Linda,
Someone once said, “when you have your health, you have just about everything!” I think it’s true too.. “when you have friends, you have just about everything!” I am so glad to have the friends I have! They are so kind!
Yes, that is a DVD and I was told to watch it ASAP! :o)
Thanks so much Linda, I’ve added your birthday card to my stash, so I won’t forget my 60th birthday ever!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a wonderful surprise for you, Jeanne. Yes, friends are a major blessing. I’m glad you were showered with love and hugs.

    Blessings.

  4. Happy Belated Birthday Jeanne!! I have been out of town for a few days, and just getting caught up on your blog. I love the sign your sister painted. It is wonderful, and your room is looking so nice. It’s great to have good friends and they are a blessing. Glad to hear you have had a wonderful couple of days. 🙂

    1. HI Christine,
This is like the birthday that won’t quit! It just keeps going!
It has been a pretty “celebratory” week… family visiting, birthday fun, sewing room almost done, friends… what could be better? Now my younger sister and brother are coming in on Friday and Saturday… so we may have more fun in store… Cool Spoons might be in the mix when Bob comes…
      Thanks Christine,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Love those fall theme towels. Nothing like some new towels for the season. Fun gifts and friends. For whatever reason, the pic of the cake is only an X for me.
Glad your birthday was happy and your sewing room complete. I filled two recycling cans with old boxes yesterday. Have a lot more room now in that doll place. I’m keeping the doll boxes for now, but tossed shippers and a lot of others. Progress is slow.

    1. Hang in there Joy…you’ll be so glad you did when you get done. When it’s in the Ugly stage it’s easy to give up and say, Forget this…but keep at it and eventually you’ll be done! It’s so worth all the effort… trust me!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Good friends are truly to BEST gift of all!!
By the Way, sweet Isabelle emailed me and said it’s her turn to model again.. She said you’ve been very busy redoing the sewing room and she didn’t want to bother you:) Oh…and she wants something in RED!

    Dolly hugs,

    Shara

    1. Oh, I see how it is… my dolls are talking to my readers, huh? So Isabelle wants something red? I’ll have to see what I can come up with… thanks for the nudge!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Hi Jeanne,
You are one spoiled girlie but you are also one girlie that deserves to be spoiled. What a blessing and it truly is the birthday that never ended. I;m sure you’ll have a lovely time with your brother Bob and little sister. Enjoy your visit to Cool Spoons! Yum
PS.. Shara is pretty sneaky…Isabelle emailed her hahaha to funny

    1. HI Ingrid,
I know… I’m going to have to keep a closer on my girls… I had “no idea” they knew how to email someone…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Happy Wednesday, Jeanne! They say friends are the flowers in the garden of life, and your garden seems to be bursting with flowers! How nice that your birthday celebration has been extended as family and friends continue to shower you with well-deserved attention and affection. You are undeniably blessed! I will turn the big 6-0 next April, and I hope to face my “sensational sixties” with the same grace and humor that you have shown. Please keep me informed about the sensational aspect as the year progresses! ;0)

I’m glad to hear that your wiring is repaired; no doubt it was a simple fix for your hubby. Your “jewelry store” lighting will highlight your new “gem” of a studio and allow you to create “precious” little doll dresses to perfection! George has certainly been a wonderful helpmate and an essential part of your remodel, and I hope he is recovering well from his procedure and will be blessed with good health moving forward.

The doll props look simply charming on top of the bookcase, Jeanne. They enhance your “Dressmaker” sign very nicely and help define the room’s purpose. I am anxious to see ALL the finishing touches you and Cindy have made on your new studio, although I know it will continue to be a work in progress. Rebecca has been waiting very patiently on the shelf with her swath of Civil War fabric, but like little Isabelle, I am eagerly anticipating some new dolly designs soon! I hope you can squeeze in some “dressmaking” before your brother and sister arrive to visit. Happy sewing, Jeanne!

    1. HI Anne,
I’ll keep you informed as I get used to the 60’s. I told my hubby this morning I might need to go to Kohl’s and check out that 15% off discount on Wednesdays…”just to make sure it really works!” :o)
I have to trim (my) Rebecca’s hair in a few minutes, but I’m hoping to get my (other) Rebecca’s dress cut out today… I’ve missed sewing…
Thank you for all your sweet comments, Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. What fun stuff!!! You are blessed, but that comes from being a blessing to many people. Enjoy, enjoy!

  10. What a happy time you are having with so many friends, far and near! You certainly spread joy every day. Everyone has said everything, so I’ll just wish you the best decade ever and have fun with your family this weekend.

    1. Thank you Susette,
I have had a pretty good birthday week, haven’t I? Nothing like spreading it out, is there?
I actually got part of my Civil War dress cut out, but someone stopped by, so it’s not all cut out yet… I’ll get back in there soon, I hope…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Happy birthday Jeanne! You are so right about having friends. Everything is easier when you have a good support group, and it looks like you have one, both online and off.

    1. Hi Carolyn,
It is fun to have friends you see every week and also friends you’d never know if you bumped into them on the street. I love both kinds!!!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
