“Here a chick, there a chick”…what’s up next for my dolls…

I don’t normally make dresses from novelty prints, but I’ve had this one for a while and Janie told me it would go “perfectly” with the new wig I styled for her last night. So I gave in and got it started. It’s a ways from being finished, so don’t think, “eeewwweee, it’s so plain!” It will get “embellished” hopefully tomorrow. I just wanted to show you the start of it so you know I haven’t forgotten how to sew! My life has been very busy the last 10 days, but this afternoon, I forced myself to sew…of course my dishes are still in my sink…but I got a doll dress started! (Priorities ladies, priorities!)

I thought I would show you a couple of pictures of the basic dress… with the finished dress coming soon!

I also bought this pink bunny fabric at the same time. The fabrics are called “Hip Hoppity Happy Easter” and I think they are so cute. I’m thinking I’ll go ahead and make the bunny dress too.

One of my subscribers, Jevne, asked me if I could show the first wig I did a “restyle” on in an earlier post. She wanted to see the differences in that one and then the one I cut last night. I can do that… Here’s the one I restyled last August… It’s more of a platinum blonde and the one I did last night has more yellow tones in it.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Janie in it.

  1. Hi Jeanne. Sometimes it’s fun to just pick a fabric that you get a kick out of. I have some novelty (juvenile) fabrics too. Gotta use them…
Janie’s new wig looks perfect with the yellow chicks on her dress. So cute!
Hope you have a nice day of sewing and that it is still spring by you. I am still in shock this morning. We are in the midst of a snowstorm.

    1. Good morning Cindy,
      Oh NO! Are you serious?
How awful is that to wake up to… just when the snow all melted it came again! I guess you’ll be tucked in your sewing room and not going anywhere, right? I’m so sorry for you!!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence on Janie’s dress. I hope I can get it finished today…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Happy that you are sewing again. I love novelty fabrics..they make you smile. Janie’s hair and dress look very sweet..and the bunny fabric is too cute!

    1. Thanks Regina,
I know some people like the cute fabrics, so I did it for them! Glad you liked it!
I think the bunny fabric is adorable and hope to get cookin’ on a dress from it too!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks Jevne,
I am glad I was able to put them together for you so you could see them beside one another. I’m not done with Janie’s dress but I’m working as fast as I can.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I’m always attracted to black and white checks and it really compliments the bunny fabric–perfect for Easter! I think both wigs were greatly improved with the restyles you did. I didn’t realize you were good at hair styling too!

    1. HI Carolyn,
Thanks for the compliments on the wigs… they were doing me no good the style they were, so any improvement was better. I LOVE black and white checks and you’ll like the finished dress I hope.
I guess I dabble in a little bit of everything.
      Blessings, Jeanne
