Help me think of a name for Elizabeth’s Regency dress…

I worked like the dickens on Elizabeth’s Regency dress yesterday, but you’d never know it. A few flowers here, a few French Knots there, a few beads sewn on the sleeves, etc… but believe me… I worked! Sometimes the details take more time than the construction of the dress. That may have been the case for this dress. I started off with the flower clusters in the corners and then added the blue beads. I thought my clusters were mirror images, but I may need to work on them just a bit to make them the same.

If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.

I added a flower on the sleeves…

…and carried the design to the back side. There are no snaps sewn on yet, but I wanted to show you what it looked like.

The skirt has been added and isn’t hemmed yet, but there is hopefully enough fabric in the back for a train. I was debating about adding a ruffle at the bottom and carrying it to the back part where the train is. I’m not sure I have enough fabric, but it’s an idea I had.

I’m sure there will be gloves to go with this one and maybe another fan…since you liked the last one so much…and then a headpiece. I already have something in mind.

Rebecca just finished the necklace and it is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Just wait…

For the Ebay listing, I threw out a few names to my hubby and Rebecca and they narrowed it down to these three…

~ Breathtaking in Blue ~
~ Beloved in Blue ~
~ Blushing in Blue ~

Do you like any of those, or do you have something else that might work? If so, please leave me a comment below or send me an email, and we’ll see what happens!

I might get some more done on it today (Thursday) but my hubby is having a procedure done this morning and we would covet your prayers. This one is very important! I’m not sure I’ll be able to do comments, but I will check in and see what you think…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Jeanne, please know you and your husband will be in my thoughts and prayers today.

  2. I’ll be keeping you two in my thoughts today.
I like Breathtaking in Blue as a name for the dress.
The accents that you have done are beautiful and really make the dress stand out. I hope you have enough fabric for all your ideas. Not that I think the dress needs more, it’s beautiful as it is, but I know you will feel more satisfied if you can complete your vision.
Don’t worry about comments. You take care of yourself and your husband. We’ll all be here.
    Take care.

  3. I’ll be keeping you and George in my prayers as well. Keep us posted when you can.

Elizabeth’s dress is beautiful. The trim and the beads. I like the first two names a lot.

  4. When I first saw the full length dress I immediately thought of a waterfall. It is just lovely. The beading and embroidery are artfully elegant.
I’ll call it as blue as the open sea. Or as blue as the skys cloudless canopy. Both too long, but I’m sure there will be others.
Be thinking of you two and family today. It will have a happy ending.

  5. Hope George’s procedure goes really well today. Prayers for him and you!
I looked at Elizabeth’s dress and thought of a Summer Wedding…but that doesn’t have blue in the name so maybe not a good idea.
    Take care

  6. Jeanne, you and George are in my prayers today, and hopefully things will go your way. We all care about you and George so much, and it shows in all the comments so far.

Oh, the dress is beautiful! All the beading and handwork makes it so much more special! Yes, it does look like a beautiful waterfall, like Joy said. While I like all three of the options you have for the Ebay listing, I think “Blissful in Blue” would be nice too!

    Holding you both in prayer!

  7. I wish the best possible results for today’s tests. You do have a wonderful support group here, and you deserve it.

Elizabeth’s dress is lovely. The embroidery is so delicate and lady-like. I’d love to see another fan and I’m looking forward to her hair decoration. This dress definitely deserves lace glove, and I really like Blissful in Blue. Nice thinking, Linda.

  8. Your handwork is exquisite, Jeanne, and I know the necklace Rebecca made will be the perfect accessory. I like your titles, too. My favorites are “Breathtaking in Blue” and Linda’s “Blissful in Blue.” Here are a few other ideas: “Shades of Blue,” “Blue Beauty,” “Dreamy in Blue,” “Blue Regency,” and “Blue Persuasion.” Trusting the finish of this beautiful dress will be just as you envision it, Jeanne. Showering you and George with prayers today!

  9. Elizabeth looks lovely and your handwork is beautiful. I like “Breathtaking in Blue”, Linda’s “Blissful in Blue” and Anne’s “Blue Persuasion”. I love the idea of gloves and a fan.
Keeping George and you in thoughts and prayers today.

    Hi Jeanne,

Prayers for God’s healing and for a good report from your husbands testing.

My choice of name for Elizabeth’s dress is “Vision In Blue. I can just imagine Rhet Buttler telling Scarlett (Elizabeth) our Southern Belle….. my dear you are a Vision In Blue!

  11. George may have already had the procedure, but it’s never to late for prayer, and I will certainly be praying for George and you.
I am going to agree with Laura on Breathtaking in Blue, Blissful in Blue, and Blue Persuasion. I’m not much of a wordsmith myself, so I can’t really offer anything new. After reading Blue Persuasion, I keep thinking of the old song by Tommy James and the Shondells, “Crystal Blue Persuasion “. I’m sure I’ll be singing it all evening! You are correct that all the little details are time consuming, but they are what make your dresses so special, so it is time well spent.

  12. Hi Jeanne
I know it’s late so I’m sure George’s procedure has come and gone. I pray everything went well and all is good.
All the names are sweet I’m sure the one you pick will be perfect.
    Hugs
    Ingrid
