Happy Mother’s Day!

I have a box up in my bedroom closet. It’s a very special box filled with all the cards my children have given me for birthday’s, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day. I got the box down and found myself on Memory Lane for a little while, reading those cards and remembering the days when my kids were smaller and filled with the excitement of making a card. We home schooled them when Rebecca started 4th grade and Kristoffer was in 7th grade. Up till then they were in a small Christian school. I decided to share some of those special cards today and thank the Lord for the children that have been entrusted to my care this short time while on this earth. You’ll be able to pick out the ones that were thought up totally by them and then the ones where a teacher helped them with the writing.

These are my two treasures…

I hope all the mother’s who read my blog will be blessed in some way today; by your children or someone who cares for you. Mother’s truly are special! I’m very thankful for my “momma” ~ that’s what we call her.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. How very sweet all those cards are, Jeanne! I can’t but help to notice how similar they are to the cards I have received from my two! Aren’t those little misspellings precious and funny at the same time? And you being “more precious than rubies”—-how true! Those were the days that I treasure the most, and look back to with fondness and wish I had them little again!

The picture of Kristoffer and Rececca is adorable, and I see similarities in them with the picture of you. But is Rebecca’s hair that straight, while yours is curly?

I had Mother’s Day yesterday with my daughter and two granddaughters for a fun day at Kimmswick, but oh, the rain! Today a phone call from my son and spending the day with my hubby. Happy Mother’s Day to you, Jeanne, and all your wonderful readers!

    1. Hi Linda,
I think all moms must have one of those “boxes” filled with cards from their children. I hadn’t gotten “approval” from my kids to share those cards on my blog today, so I was a little nervous when I showed them my post at lunch today. It turned out okay and they laughed till Rebecca cried! It was very fun listening to their “take” on the cards years and years later! They got the biggest kick out of the one where Kristoffer said he knew I still loved him even when I spanked him! :o)

Rebecca straightened her hair with a flat iron that day. It was unusually stick straight then. She has super thick hair and it’s naturally wavy but she controls it now with some kind of serum, I think.

I hope you had a wonderful day, and even spending it with your hubby is a treat in itself.
Happy Mother’s Day to you too, Linda!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Love the cards. Guess most of us got cards our children made in school for most holidays.
Those were the best! I received a lovely bouquet of roses yesterday from my daughter and family. They live in Mass., we live in Florida . Hope that you have a great day.
Thanks so much for your blog, i read it every morning and enjoy!

    1. Hi Sylvia,
Aren’t the homemade cards just the best? Mine are!
Ooooo Roses! How nice and thoughtful your daughter was. I bet you are enjoying them today. Massachusetts to Florida…too bad you are so far apart! At least you’re on the same coastline.
Thanks for reading my blog. I love your comments.
Happy Mother’s Day to you Sylvia!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Happy Mother’s Day Jeanne, your cards from your children are so sweet. I love the one from Rebecca that says she loves you more than rubies. I will be spending time with my son and daughter later today. They are my greatest blessings.

    1. HI Regina,
Thanks so much for your comments. I’m glad you will be seeing your children today and able to spend time with them. No doubt about it, children are our greatest blessings!
I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Christine,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing my kids “early artwork!”
I hope you had a nice Mother’s Day too.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. You are right…those are the most priceless cards you will ever get!
So fun to see you thru their eyes.
Happy Mother’s Day to a very good Mom!!

    1. Thank you very much Kathie,
I am very blessed to have the two children I have and thank the Lord every day for them. I hope your Mother’s Day was wonderful too!

All those cards are so very special. I have a box too. It is full of cards & letters from my kids. I also have the cards I gave my own mother during my childhood and the adult years. All are precious to me.
    Have a lovely Mother’s Day !!

    1. HI Jeannie,
Yet another mom with a “box” of cards from her children. My mom has all my cards, but she mentioned today she needs to thin them out… I think I’ll get them from her before she does something with them.
I have a huge box from my hubby too… it’s overflowing!
I did have a wonderful Mother’s Day and I hope your’s was just as special!
Blessings to you all the way down in Texas… Stay safe from all those storms.
      ~ Jeanne

  6. So sweet, Jeanne. I think we all have a box like that, we should get it out more often. Rebecca is beautiful and Kristoffer is a handsome boy. Who is George? I think the cutest comment is “I glad you picked this Dad”, but “even when you spank me….” is a close second.
Happy Mother’s Day to you and all the mothers that read your blog.
    Jevne

    1. HI Jevne,
My mom used to have red hair so she claims all the genes that gave my kids their red hair. Kristoffer’s isn’t as red now as it was when he was little but Rebecca’s has gotten redder. Her’s is a gorgeous color… to match her face! :o)
      George is my hubby!
Isn’t it fun to see how they wrote things when they were so little? I love them!
Happy Mother’s Day to you Jevne! I hope your day was perfect!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Hi Jeanne,
Loved the children’s cards. So sweet. I love the one where the mother bird is bringing a big worm to her little chicks in the bird house. How precious.
When I would get my children up from their naps, I affectionately called them “my baby chicks” because their hair was soft and sticking out all over having just woken up and they were just too cute. The birdhouse reminded me of the little baby chick’s story. I would love to hold my children again, close to me on my lap… I sure miss those days.
I hope your Mother’s Day reflected your those wonderful days raising your children too. I am sure it did. Blessings.

    1. HI Paula,
Thanks for your comments on my kids Mother’s Day Cards. I should put them in the safe as I would hate to lose them more than the things I think we “need” to keep in the safe.
I told Rebecca you liked the bird with the worm picture best. She smiled!
Yes, to have little kids again would be fun…even just for a few days… :o)
I hope your day was a happy one!
      Blessings, Jeanne
