Hallelujah! Addy’s Civil War dress is finished!!!

This is the 6th post about Addy’s Civil War dress…and might be a record for the number of posts devoted to a single dress…although I do remember one here while back that took quite a few before I got it all the way finished. I think the Lord has erased those memories from my mind because I’m drawing a blank as to which one it was…and I don’t want to give in and look it up! So let’s move on to Addy’s completed dress…and I do mean “completed and listed on Ebay!” I’ll put a link at the bottom of the page…or you can click on the picture at the right side bar and go to it when you finish reading this post.

I embroidered the little French knots all the way around the lace collar and it looks so much more “finished” now!

Rebecca made the most beautiful necklace using the prettiest glass beads that just match this dress so well!

I got the crinoline made and it really does the job of holding out Addy’s dress so well…

I took Becky’s advice and added a few French knots to the sides of the pantalettes for just a bit more color…or “spice” as she called it.

I was at Joann Fabrics today and I found these sweet flowers in all the right colors…and just the right scale…at just the right PRICE!

This is the final outcome for this week long project! I hope everyone likes it with all the changes… Addy does!

If you want to check it out on Ebay…you can click HERE.

I think I’m doing something easy next… something that I’m very familiar with…something that I can do in one or two posts… if you guessed a Little Darling’s dress…you were right… One of my Effner girls will be up next!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, how stunningly beautiful you have managed to make this whole outfit!Yes, it took awhile, but don’t you think it was worth the time and trouble? What is not to like on this dress?
I must say your photography certainly shows off the special parts of the dress perfectly! Love, love, love the intricate beading on the collar and pantalettes, the crinoline was a surprise to me, and works out just perfectly. The necklace is just the right touch, and so sparkly and pretty! I’m sure you will have lots of trouble getting this off of Addy—-and rightly so!

    • Thank you Linda,
Back a few days ago, I was having some doubts as to whether this dress would ever be finished and when it was, would it be appealing? But I think it finally is now… I like it very much now…it just took me a while to get there…
I appreciate your sweet comments and so glad you like it ALL….
Is St. Louis all rainy like we are today?
      Blessings, Jeanne

Yes Jeanne, VERY rainy and this is the Cardinal’s home opener today—ugh! Really wet out there and chilly too, but——–GO CARDS!!

The last dress that was this much trouble was the sliver dress with the blue jacket for Nyssa, wasn’t it? And this wasn’t as much trouble — it was a matter of fitting it in to the limited time you had. The last picture does such a good job of showing off the pantalettes and the shoes, just as you wanted, and the hoop is going to be something the buyer will really appreciate. Rebecca’s necklace is, as you said, perfect with this outfit. Now I’m going to go click on the Ebay link so I can watch this on Ebay. Have a lovely morning. I thought we might get snow, but we didn’t. If the rain didn’t freeze the crab apple blossoms, it will be perfect.

    • HI Marilyn,
Oh yes, Nyssa’s dress….the one that almost got thrown in the trash! That one was a nightmare… this one was just hard to get right!
Thank you so much for your sweet compliments on Addy’s dress. I think Rebecca’s necklace is so beautiful with the colors she chose. She knows her stuff, doesn’t she?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Nicely done. good ‘finishing touches’ to a beautiful dress. I have a new pattern for my AG girls – a 1850’s style…. I can’t decide what fabrics to use, tho. :-/ Soon…. hopefully! Good luck with the auction!

  4. Here you have another AG masterpiece. What a wonderful job you did on making and finishing this outfit, Jeanne. The addition of the flowers is just so perfect. Oh, and a bit of spice too! This is a lovely confection once again for a very pretty doll, from a very gifted artist. Thanks for bringing us along to enjoy the process with you.

    Take care.

    • HI Becky,
I’m glad you suggested that “spice” part for the pantalettes…it makes them much prettier!
I thought an apology was in order for taking so long with getting this dress finished, but it seems it was okay to take everyone along for the “ride” on this one.
Thank you for your kind words about the dress. I appreciate them very much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. What a beautiful dress.

I love the crinoline under the skirt. 🙂 Genius!

    • Thank you KariAnne,
You love beautiful home decor fabrics and I love beautiful doll dress fabrics. I’ll be sure and check out the “remnant” piles at Hancock’s next week to see what might be used for my next dresses. :o)

Thank you for your sweet compliments on Addy’s dress.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I agree this one might have taken a while, but Addy looks so pretty and springlike.
The necklace has all the right colors and the crinoline and the sweet embellished pantalettes peeking out from under the skirt give it just the right look. The embroidery on the lace collar makes it extra decorative and the flowers are the finishing touch. Perhaps Addy picked them from Momma or M’Dear who they might visit after church or perhaps a church potluck is the order of the day. Either way Addy radiates springtime.

    • Thank you Laura,
Addy’s dress is pretty Springy, isn’t it? I love this fabric…the color combination is just so pretty. This dress did take a lot of time, but I’m glad I stuck with it and didn’t take any shortcuts on it…
Thanks so much for your sweet thoughts on Addy’s dress, Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Rebecca’s little necklace puts the icing on the cake! All of your lovely additions have made this one amazing. I’m sure whoever wins will appreciate all of your work.

    • Thank you Joy,
I’m so thrilled to have Rebecca still at home who can make a necklace for me whenever I ask… I love her work and Addy’s necklace really is beautiful…
      Thanks so much Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I think it looks great! I’m glad you embellished the pantalettes–it’s the little touches that make an outfit special. Kudos to Rebecca for contributing the necklace. The bead colors are perfect for the dress. The hair piece is gorgeous too.
