Guess which doll is up next for a new dress?

I funniest thing happened the other night when my hubby had his men’s meeting at our house. I helped them with a few songs on my guitar and then I retired to the back of the house and did some catch up work on the computer. But somehow, keys got pushed and bank accounts got deleted just a bit and then on Saturday I had the strangest thing happen…a package was in my mailbox! :o) Anyone know where this is going? If you’ve ever had doll fever you’ll know exactly what just happened… I bought a new doll.

Anyone recognize this box?

I’ve been looking at this one for about 6 months… a little 10″ Robert Tonner doll called Trixie. She’s a friend to my Patsy Tonner doll. I thought I wanted the one with the adorable afro, but another one popped up… Trixie Autumn Days, and she’s the one that ended up in my mailbox. I’ve been looking for quite some time but all the ones I’ve been seeing had wonky eyes…you know, one eye going this way and the other one looking slightly the other way. I’ve been waiting for one with nice eyes, and bangs that weren’t all jaggedly cut across her forehead. This one was used but in mint condition… I like the fact that she has bendable arms and it will be fun posing her. She’s pretty cute so let me introduce you to her…

Her hair was pretty flyaway and static-y so I used a dryer sheet to calm it down… (this was the before picture)

Patsy was quite intrigued with her new friend and I think they’ll be inseparable on the dolly shelf.

I was just a little bit disappointed… about her shoe. Since I make and sell doll clothes and only need the nude doll I usually sell the outfits they come in to help offset the cost of the doll. Her outfit and straw hat is in excellent condition, but her shoe strap is torn through and now I won’t be able to sell it in “like new” condition… I checked back at the pictures of the original listing and they appear to be fine in those pictures, so I’m not positive when they tore, but they did.

So…it was a no brainer as to who was next up for a dress. After my mom left and Kristoffer went home, I couldn’t wait to get in my sewing room and see what we could find to make her a dress out of. It was a choice between a purple print, a light blue one and this royal blue. The royal blue one won out. It really shows off Trixie’s “tan.”

Here’s a few pictures of the start to the dress..it’s not hemmed or embellished yet…

I hope you’ll come back tomorrow and see what else I’ve gotten done on it… maybe even finished it… wouldn’t that be something?
Also, I wanted to share with you what my kids got me for Mother’s Day!
I hope all the mom’s out there had a nice day and hope you got to visit with your kids like I did.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. What a pretty little doll and really dear outfit you’ve created for her. She really is a honey.

Too bad about the shoe, but life happens, doesn’t it?

Thanks for sharing your sweet doll with us.

    Take care.

    1. Thank you Becky,
Trixie really is a pretty little doll and I’m glad I waited for this one… it will be fun to have a “new girl” in the house… maybe a little jealousy for the first few days, but they’ll get over it soon.
      Have a great day Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Hi Jeanne,
The pictures you shared with us yesterday were a nice tribute to your momma. You have a wonderful family and I’m sure your mother is proud of each and every one of you. You all grew up as good and kindhearted and talented children. The family pictures you shared reflect the resemblances between all of you. It is nice to have photos of our history, isn’t it?
Congrats on your new doll member. How exciting. Trixie is cute and the blue dress is very becoming on her. It is darling so far.
Have a great day. (and yes, I had a wonderful day with my family on Mother’s Day, thank you.)

    1. HI Paula,
I DO have a nice family and it all started with my momma! I think future generations will be missing something when they go to dig through the box of pictures… I mean ones you can actually hold in your hands… :o(
I’m glad you had a nice day yesterday too…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a cute little friend for Patsy, Jeanne! Her dress color is so striking against her skin and hair! What fun you will have creating new outfits for her. Such a nice Mother’s Day gift—–something you REALLY wanted!

I’m off today to spend the day with my daughter. We will be able to visit while the kids are in school, no interruptions!!!! A lot of us know what it is like to try to visit our children who have children—-the conversation goes nowhere because of all the little ones who are around, so I am looking forward to today, even though it is a bit gloomy outside.

    1. Hi Linda,
It’s pretty bad when you buy your OWN Mother’s Day gift… but my family had no clue I was looking at her. It was a surprise to me when those buttons got pushed on my computer too…

I hope you have a wonderful time at your daughter’s today… I know just what you mean about “uninterrupted” time…with no kids around. Those times were few and far between for several years when the kids were little.

It’s a bit gloomy here too… a good day to stay in and sew!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I am wanting that Trixie so bad.. How does she look along side of Ellowyne? I have Lizette and thought she could be a little sister for her but just not sure of the sizes together.. congrats and I love the blue dress on her. Hugs, Kath

    1. HI Kath,
I made a note and will try to get a picture of Trixie next to Ellowyne for you…Trixie is a little sweetie… I’m glad I sprung for her. I love the articulated arms… SO MUCH! So nice for hugging teddy bears… :o)
      Thanks Kath,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Love your Trixie. I have the one with the natural curly hair. It’s a lot easier to get outfits on her than some of my other 10ers because she has wrists. Very cute outfit coming along.

    1. HI Joy,
Oh, I do love the bendable elbows and wrist too… her arms are a bit thinner than Patsy’s too… She’s a real cutie… I love the one with the afro, but she doesn’t come up very often.
I’m hoping to get her dress finished today…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Happy belated Mother’s Day to you, Jeanne! I’ve thought about getting Trixie too. She is really very, very cute and looks gorgeous in deep blue. I always think twice about getting more than one doll in the same size. I need a good reason otherwise I end up with “too many dolls”. So, hmmm, I’m thinking of a reason . . . lol! Loved your story how she just happened to show up. Ha ha!

    1. HI Cindy,
I know, I know… you don’t really need two dolls since they are the same size, but sometimes they just need a sister and you can always sew “friend” or “sister” sets if you have two dolls… that’s a good reason, isn’t it? She is really fun to pose and I’m hoping I can finish her dress today… it’s sort of icky looking outside, my family is all gone, so I’m hoping to get lots of sewing done…
Happy Belated Mother’s Day to you too, Cindy… I’m sure it was a hard day for you but I hope your day was filled with family and lots of wonderful memories!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Anne Johnson

Good morning, Jeanne! So glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

I love all your dolls, and I am always charmed by the pretty little, detailed clothes you make for them. Your design talent is superb, and you have the most amazing eye for detail! I especially love hearing about the background of a doll and how you acquired her. But I just love your new Trixie doll! She is so sweet with her warm brown eyes, chubby pink cheeks and full lips, and she looks adorable in the royal blue. It does compliment her complexion very well. Good choice!

Full disclosure: I am a Patsy fan! I have an auburn-haired Patsy and a blond Patsy that is articulated. They are good company for each other! They also have a friend, Gracie, and several other ME dolls who come out to play sometimes. They are all 10″ little girl dolls, and so I will eagerly look forward to seeing what you create for little Trixie in the future. Perhaps I will be able to purchase some of your beautiful designs for my little girls! Congratulations on your recent “adoption,” and thank you for sharing pictures of your little Trixie!

    Dolly hugs,

    Anne

    1. HI Anne,
I DID have a wonderful Mother’s Day.. I usually do!
I think Trixie is going to be really well liked around her. She will be such a joy to pose holding little things in her arms!
So you’re a big Patsy fan, huh? It sounds like your Patsy and friends have fun playing together. I hope my Patsy gets along with Trixie… I’m sure she will…
      Thanks so much Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I enjoyed the pictures you shared of your children and Momma. Hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day! Your newest little doll is cute. She looks like she could be a little sister to Josefina. The blue is very pretty on her. I know you usually sell the meet outfit, but wouldn’t you have kept her shoes anyway so that she has something to wear? I bet you could easily repair them.

    1. HI Laura,
Thanks for your nice thoughts about the pictures of my mom and kids… it was fun to share those with everyone.
Trixie really is a little cutie. I’ll have to put her next to Josefina and see how their coloring matches…
I have several pairs of shoes from my 11″ Bitty Bethany doll so I wasn’t going to keep the shoes but sell them with the outfit. I may be able to fix them or take the straps off and make them into a slip on shoe of some kind…
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Is Laura right? Could you repair the shoe and use the pair when you need brown shoes to go with something? The stockings also look useful, but you usually make your own, so you’d be selling a not quite complete outfit, and the buyer could easily get similar shoes on Ebay. Not the best, but with the hat and stockings, not bad either.
You new doll looks much newer and happier in her new blue dress. It’s a wonderful color for her, and a lovely design — it suits her very well — much better than the original outfit. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this new member of your collection.
My sister spent her Mother’s Day at the christening of her first grandchild, named Anna after our mother. Anna’s hair is as red as Rebecca’s. I can only hope for such curls, but her mother has them, so who knows?

    1. HI Marilyn,
I might be able to fix Trixie’s shoe. I will certainly give it a try…
I thought Trixie would look wonderful in this blue dress and last night when I was working on the dress, I thought she looked nice. But this morning in daylight, she really sparkles in this pretty blue fabric.
It sounds like your sister had a nice day yesterday.. I hope you did too!
      Blessings, Jeanne
