Gingerbread cookies and Gingerbread doll dresses…

Sunday is supposed to be our first “real” chance at snow with a 90% possibility of the white stuff. It’s always nice to look at when it’s falling and looks so beautiful when it hasn’t been walked on, but for me… I’ll take Fall any day of the world. Autumn was W-A-Y too short for me this year. As I think about colder weather, I think about being in the kitchen baking….cookies! I like making cookies and have a few favorite recipes that I use over and over.

I see all kinds of recipes for Gingerbread cookies, but have never mastered them. I think the problem is…I’m a chocolate kind of girl. I think I HAVE mastered a few Gingerbread dresses for my dolls, though. These are from my “archives” and I thought I’d share a few with you. Get a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy…

Here is tiny little Riley, by Helen Kish, in her gingerbread dress…

Tulah, by Helen Kish, was quite the little kitchen helper too. Didn’t her cookies turn out cute?

Bitty Bethany, by Helen Kish, has the biggest “cookie” of all…

…and last up is my sweet Katie Effanbee in her gingerbread confection…

Okay…who’s ready for some gingerbread cookies?

See you tomorrow,

Darling little dresses ! I love the fabrics and colors.
I too, am just no good at making gingerbread cookies. I love the taste but I always seem to bake the heck out of them and then they are hard and stiff and just not even chewable. Best not to waste the $$ on the ingredients! {buy fabric instead}.

    1. Thanks Jeannie,
Glad to know I’m in good company when it comes to baking these cookies. Maybe I should have asked my readers if anyone had a good recipe for them…

  2. No gingerbread baking experts here either. What is it about snow and baking cookies? As soon as there are a few flurries in the air I want to bake cookies. And…we DO have snow! Just a bit though, the grass is still visible.
Your gingerbread themed dresses are adorable. It’s a good thing that our dolls know how to bake gingerbread men and women because the cookies make the cutest props.
Good luck with your snowy forcast.

    1. HI Cindy,
Thanks for letting me know I’m not alone on these hard to do cookies. Yes, I think snow and baking cookies go hand in hand… just like snow and sewing go hand in hand too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh my goodness, Jeanne! Gingerbread cookies! I used to bake them when we first got married and put the decorated cookies on our Christmas tree, along with popcorn garlands and real candy canes! I still have and use the candy canes, amazingly, after 40 something years! My son loved taking the cookies off the tree after the holidays and eating them, dust and all! They gave the tree such a wonderful gingery smell! I always used the recipe from the red and white gingham Betty Crocker cookbook, and they always came out pretty well. Haven’t made those cookies for awhile though, just too much other stuff going on.
I love the little gingerbread dresses, and the first picture is so cute with that fireplace and little stockings! Love, love, love, gingerbread and all the wonderful memories of Christmases past!

    1. Thanks Linda,
It’s good to know that at least ONE of my subscribers has mastered the Gingerbread cookie!
I’ll stick to dresses, thank you very much! I might have to check out the recipe in the BC cookbook! I’m going to Panera’s tonight… my daughter used to work there and she did some decorating of the gingerbread cookies. I’ll have to see if they have them out yet or not.
      Blessings, Jeanne
