Four hints for Ellowyne’s dress……

I was racing against the clock today trying to get this dress finished so I could list it on Ebay, but I had too many interruptions, and couldn’t quite make it. I’m hopful for tomorrow… I think the set turned out very pretty and Ellowyne looks wonderful in it. I really wanted to show you the whole dress, but I’ve decided to save it and show you tomorrow…

I guess my camera battery died because I can’t get it to turn on, so these pictures are taken with my Brand Spanking New Samsung Galaxy S5 Phone… my hubby bought it for my birthday. It is SO SO SO much nicer than my old phone… night and day difference. I’ll get a new battery for my camera, but in the meantime, I have a few pictures to tease you with. I hate to do this to you, and it’s not too much of a tease, but if you put yesterday’s post (HERE) together with these 4 pictures, you just might figure it out!

I’m so glad you went with the rose pink for her hat and bag, Jeanne! I think they just really “sing” with that fabric.

The lace whatever-it-is (shawl?) looks really pretty, too. I might have gone with a smaller scale motif, but I do like the sculptural quality of this one;, it makes a nice contrast with the dainty print in the dress fabric.

Now the question remains: Do I need an Ellowyne?! Yours is so pretty!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
After you said what you did about the scale of the shawl, I looked for something smaller and made something else. I may have 2 shawls to go with this one…someone might really like the white one…
Oh YES… you do need an Ellowyne… just one…if you can! They are beautiful dolls and you can find some great bargains on Ebay… type in Ellowyne nude… if you want to make her clothes yourself….
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, just lost my comment! I thought I added it on, so left the page, then remembered I never clicked “post Comment”! Senior moment, I guess! Well to paraphrase what I said, I too loved the color of the accent pieces, the pink. I see a pretty cloche hat, a lacy white shawl, and a clutch purse! She’s all ready to go somewhere, and I can’t wait to see what it all looks like in one picture!

Your new phone camera is fantastic! I would never have known you used a different camera, other than the one you usually use, unless you mentioned it. The pictures a clear, sharp and very easy on the eyes. Really, very nice pictures!!

    1. HI Linda,
As much as you’re wanting to see it, I don’t think I’m going to get it listed on Ebay this evening. I had a birthday lunch for a friend and this evening I have to go put side pockets in another friend’s daughter’s pink satin homecoming dress. Instead of bringing the dress home with me, I’m just talking my machine and all my stuff over to her house and doing it there.

I think I will get home too late to get my dress listed… I don’t have my pictures taken yet, and I’ve switched gears right in the middle of things too.. I made a different shawl… there may be 2 shawls with this set instead of 2 bonnets like there was for Kirsten’s set…

I just ordered a new battery for my phone but it’s coming from California, so it might be 2 weeks before I get it…so I guess I’ll give my phone a work out…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Very sharp photos, Jeanne…technological wonders! The colors are delectable together on Ellowyne’s outfit…can’t wait to see the whole picture. She truly is beautiful.

    Blessings.

    1. Thanks Becky,
I’m not sure my doll dresses…well, the colors…have ever been called delectable… I like that!
She IS a pretty doll… one of the hard to find versions… She’s called Ellowyne Wigged Out, Too! I was very fortunate to buy her from a lady on a forum for Ellowyne dolls.
      Thanks so much Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The cell phone pictures are amazing, as are the wonderful accessories for Ellowyne’s ensemble. Every piece is worthy of study. I just saw an ad for three different tiny lenses to attach to a cell phone that make a separate camera totally unnecessary. A professional photographer ditched his $5000 worth of Canon and uses his cellphone exclusively , and it is only $29 for the set. You may not need a new battery for your old camera. I can count the fibers in the felt and even the silk ribbon! What a thoughtful gift.

I don’t think I can get along without an Ellowyne doll. I’ll see what I’ve come up with when she arrives in the mail. There is so much to learn about the dolls.

    1. HI Susette,
Thanks for the compliments on my phone pictures. I’ll be using it for a while as I just ordered a camera battery and it’s coming from good ole’ California. It generally takes forever to get anything from California. Maybe this will be different.
I’ll have to check into the phone lenses… I bet my brother will know about them.

You’re going to love your Ellowyne doll… she is a very pretty doll and so fun to pose. You’ll wish all your dolls were articulated when you get done playing with her. I hope she gets to your house fast! Show us pictures when she arrives!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Sure hope your phone isn’t the one with the battery catching fire problem. Apparently, the replacement ones are defective too. Really nice clear photos. I may have to do something about my phone.
From 50’s hostess dress to 60’s granny shawl. The bag and hat are adorable and look lovely on Ell. Can’t wait to see the completed outfit.
Beautiful sunny day here in CA. Thoughts with those on the east coast.

    1. HI Joy,
No, my phone isn’t the one that is catching fire. That must be scary to own that one… The one I have is the one that my son has and Rebecca has it only in the mini version.

I changed things up just a bit…and found a smaller scale “shawl” for Ellowyne to wear. My hubby gave this one 2 thumbs up…
It’s a nice day here in Southern Illinois too… sunny and 80 degrees with a slight breeze…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I had a shawl a little like that in the 50s. White was the in color, especially for girls, and I think the ones that weren’t white were almost all black. It was my 8th grade graduation present, and I loved it. Yours is really lovely with that blue print.
I got the rose colored hat I was hoping for, and it’s a pretty one. I’m so glad it has a matching purse.
I really do think there need to be a book in your future. I already have two volumes in mind — the first all AG, the second for the others. Mostly photos with some tips, hints, and a pattern or two for each era. At least I haven’t chosen the cover photo for you.
I agree with everyone else on the photos — these are spectacular.
We were supposed to have a frost last night, and roofs were frost covered, but plants appear to have survived. I agree with Joy about people on the east coast as they hope their homes survive.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I had a shawl too, but mine was in the 70’s… I loved that thing… mine was a beige colored one. I knew you’d be happy with the rose colored purse and hat. I just barely had enough felt to make them.
I went to lunch today with some ladies, celebrating one of their birthdays, and Sarah, my webmaster was there. I shared with the ladies the talk recently of me doing a book and Sarah had all kinds of ideas. She has just published a book herself.. a journal, and she said we need to get together and talk. I can’t wait…. There may be a road block though… she’s not sure I could publish a book with American Girl photos in it… you know, the copyright thing…. but she said she’d check on it. I could show the outfit, but not the dolls faces… bummer! So we’ll see what becomes of that.
I’m glad the frost didn’t hurt the plants just yet… they can die, but just not now!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Jeanne, that new book that is now out about American Girl, that you can get at Costco or Sam’s, or even Amazon, is NOT published by American Girl, so maybe you don’t have to worry about the copyright thing. Of course, you can always check it out, but it doesn’t seem impossible to have AG dolls in a book.

        1. HI Linda,
The book I was talking about was the one “I” might put together of my doll dresses… kind of like a picture book. I’m not sure I could publish a book with the AG dolls in it. They won’t even let you publish patterns anymore using the AG dolls as models. I’ll definitely have to check all this out… I thougth that book WAS published by AG… hmmm…something to think about…
          Thanks,
          ~ Jeanne

  7. Nice crispness and clarity in your photos, Jeanne. Your new Galaxy was a good back-up for you. From the flowing draped fabric to the charming feminine accessories, Ellowyne’s outfit has a lovely romantic style that I love. The bigger blooms of the lacy shawl are a nice counterpoint to the more delicate floral print of the dress and also compliment the flower embellishments of the sweet felt hat and purse. I like the way the contrasting stitching on the felt matches the background color of the dress, and I’m glad you left the little pink bow in Ellowyne’s braid, too. Everything about this look says soft and pretty, including her hairstyle, and now I really want an Ellowyne doll! That surely must be a testament to the power of your design skills, Jeanne! Wishing everyone a safe and happy fall weekend, and prayers to those in Hurricane Matthew’s path.

    1. HI Anne,
Thanks so very much for your sweet compliments on my pictures and on Ellowyne’s dress set. I really should sew for her more often. She is a dream of a doll to sew for… brings back memories of my Barbie days and sewing for her. Ellowyne is much easier though. You really should consider getting one. There are a million different versions of her on Ebay… just type in Ellowyne or Ellowyne Tonner and you’ll have lots to look at.

      Have a wonderful weekend, Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I love the ‘rose’ and I really like the ‘lace’! Good thing my Ellowyne’s can’t see this – they have decided they need to ‘go travelling’ soon…. I just can’t ‘keep up’ with so many dolls! My ‘Ellowyne phase’ was over (along with Vita) a while ago… I think I’m safe, now to ‘pass them on.” 🙂

    1. HI Mary,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts today. If you have some Ellowyne’s that you’d like to sell, maybe some ladies here might like to buy them from you. I already hooked up Susette with a lady to buy one of hers… you never know…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Oh my goodness is it going to be beautiful!!! I can not let any of my Ellowyne’s or Lizette’s see this.. they will get on the computer and buy it in a blink of an eye.. As soon as you post it I will share over on the EE board to try to get you another sale. I believe my friend bought the one you made last fall after I posted about it.
I fits so pretty on her.. you have the fit just right.. I am wanting to get a Ginda from Tonner too.

    1. Thank you Kath,
I appreciate you spreading the eord…I used to be on EE but had too many irons in the fire and finally stopped posting things…but I sure did enjoy myself when I was on there. It was on there that I found my Ellowyne that’s modeling this blue dress.
I hope you can get your dream doll soon…
      Blessings, Jeanne
