Farewell to Saige, Josefina, Lily and Kit…

About two and a half weeks ago I showed you five dolls that I had decided to sell. It’s not that I didn’t like them… I did…but they always seemed to get overlooked and the more “popular” girls were chosen when it came time to model a dress. I said I’d sell them nude but would try to find some little something to put with them…

The first doll to go was Saige…and she went to my sister, Cindy, for Hannah. Of course, I had to make her something special and now that Cindy has gotten the box, I can show you. I wanted to surprise her because she thought she was coming nude… I tried to find a print that went with her pretty, almost turquoise eyes… and this is what I came up with…

I pulled her hair into a couple of low pony tails and tied them with olive green ribbons to match the tie around her waist.

You can see the dress a little better here…

I had this one single silk flower in my stash and couldn’t believe how it went with the fabric…

The tie belt just ties in a bow in the back…

Saige needed a pair of shoes and she’s kind of a cowgirl so I picked up these boots for her at Hobby Lobby. I think Hannah will love them.

Good bye Saige… be good!

The next dolls that sold were Josefina and Lily. They went to the same lady. I was trying to figure out what to send with Josefina and remembered she had come in her camisa, bloomers, skirt and sash, so I just pressed them and put them on her. I french braided her hair and tied some ribbons at the ends. She looked very pretty as I wrapped the bubble wrap around her… Good bye Josefina… be good!

Poor Lily sort of got the shaft…only a lacy slip for her… but her looks made up for it… I think she was such a pretty doll even in the nude!
Good bye Lily… be good!

I thought for sure I had taken a picture of Kit in her farewell outfit but I can’t find it. I found her rose cardigan, her skirt and a pair of bloomers that had come with her and decided to just put them back on her. I washed her sweater so it smelled nice and clean and then wrapped Kit up in some bubble wrap… Good bye Kit… be good!

So that left Julie… and after 2 or 3 days someone asked about her and decided they wanted her. I have been trying for days to get her _______ made so I can send her to her new owner, but I’ve had too many interruptions. I’m hoping tomorrow may be a productive day for me. I can’t show you what Julie is going home in because I want it to be a surprise to her new mommy. She might see it on here, and that would spoil the surprise, but as soon as she reaches her new home, I’ll show you… so I won’t tell Julie good bye until she’s all wrapped up and on her way.

I just wanted you to know I plan to keep dolls as the main feature of my blog… and thought sharing these girls “farewell” outfits might be enough until I get sewing again… I do miss it when I go this long without sewing…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Your dolls look wonderful and happy. Josefina looks like a whole new doll with that very becoming hairstyle. I’m glad you kept the original clothes for Josefina and Kit, and everyone loves your beautiful slips. Saige’s hair looks lovely and healthy in that new style — a lot like Willa, actually. These are splendid farewell pictures. Everyone concerned is going to be very happy. Emily Pollifax said, “There are no happy endings, only happy people,” but you are managing both.

    1. HI Marilyn,
It’s nice to know that my girls are going to such wonderful homes… I’m sure they’ll be dressed all the time and will soon forget what it was like standing on a shelf nude most of the time…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Very sweet dress for Hannah’s Sage. The other girls are so happy, I’m sure, to arrive wearing something. Their new owners will be appreciative.
Sailing through the pre big day. Lots to do but fun. Know your daughter duties call too, but hope you have a couple of minutes to share some good times.

    1. HI Joy,
I’m glad to send these dolls off to nice new mommy’s! They’ll be loved and looked after very well, I’m sure!
My day has been busy by my hubby is going to try and go to a men’s meeting tonight, and I have a date with my sewing room! :o)
I hope you got all your things done!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Here I am with flour in my hair and all over the kitchen! Baking cookies again! I want to make some “pretty” ones, for gift giving, so am trying for that today. We’ll see how that goes!

Saige looks brand new and perfectly adorable in that dress! I love her hairdo too, and like Marilyn says, she looks a lot like Wellie Wisher Willa! Perhaps a big sister?
Josefina looks just darling, and I love her hair! Whoever got her is very lucky! I do love my Josefina and have fun dressing her in different outfits, and some aren’t even hers! Lily looks so sweet in that slip, and a good thing you have Kit’s Meet. I just know you could never send a nude dolly, and I hope the new owners love them as much as you did.

The sun is out!!! Ice is melting!!! Hallelujah!

    1. HI Linda,
I’ve got a few “cookie” staples left and want so badly to make more cookies, but I have to switch gears and do a few other things. I passed out most of my cookies and sweets on Sunday, but I’d like to make some more to give out… I just like making cookies… and bark!

As much as I adored the dolls I’m glad they are going to someone who will appreciate and love them and play with them… They deserve that much at least!

We didn’t have much ice…only on a few surfaces and it melted pretty quickly.
I hope you got those “pretty” cookies made… did you take any pictures? I’d just like to see them…
      Thanks so much Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The dress you made Saige looks so cute on her and her hair and the boots just set it off. The waistband is awesome with the green ribbon. That little Mommy is going to just love her!
    Nice job!
It’s almost nice out…hope the warmer weather comes your way!

    1. HI Kathie,
I think Saige looks pretty cute in the dress too. That’s her color for sure! Hannah will flip out when she sees her I think.
The sun came out today but it only got up to 46 today…still that’s better than 17!
      Thanks so much Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Lucky followers to add your dolls to their collections. So nice of you to add the special touches. Linda will look just like her dolls while making cookies with the flour all over the place. We need a picture of that!

The best our weather can work up to where I live in Southern California is to be overcast. No rain. We may get some later in the week and then it will snow in the mountains, but that’s 70 miles inland so we can visit it if we’d like but don’t have to shovel snow.

    1. Sorry, Susette! You are NOT getting a picture of me with flour in my hair and all over the kitchen!!! I finally cleaned up! 🙂

    2. HI Susette,
I just asked Linda for a picture of her “pretty cookies” but didn’t think to ask for one of her with flour in her hair! :o)
Ahhhh… southern California weather… we all want to come visit you! Make up the spare bedroom! :o)

      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I’m sure Hannah will love Saige and the dress you made for her is adorable. I’m sure she will be delighted with her. The BEST thing is if you ever need to borrow Saige as a model I’m sure your niece would lend her to you- best of both worlds. Glad to know everyone is going to a good home. Whether we are collectors or a seamstress or enjoy collecting and sewing we each need pick the dolls that work best for us. When you did the post on what dolls we each had, I found it interesting what a variety there was even just considering the PC/AG girls.
Of course, we all love to see dolls and sewing, but you are so busy with George and all right now and naturally Christmas is a top priority.

    1. HI Laura,
It is a comfort knowing my dolls are going to nice homes… and you’re right… it won’t be the last time I see Saige… I hadn’t thought about that… but when Hannah comes home, I’ll ask her to bring Saige and we can chat again… (that is if she’ll talk to me!) :o/

I wish I could say Christmas is a top priority for me, but actually it isn’t… Rebecca made it though school, George is somewhat better from his infection, we have to go get a scan tomorrow and my sister is coming to pick up my mom and take her home with her for a week maybe. I don’t have one single present bought, but have an idea for one for my brother…that’s it! I’m doing pretty poorly this year on my list… I’d like to get some sleep… yes, Santa… if I wanted anything, it’d be sleep! :o)
But we are happy… seriously, my hubby was feeling bad that he didn’t have anything for me, and I said, “I have JUST what I want… you!” Christmas is good at our house!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Kath,
I’m not sure if Trixie is going on a trip or not… I thought about it, but not sure…let me think about it for a few days…
Thanks for being bold enough to ask…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Saige looks adorable in the dress you made and with her new hair-do, and those cute boots… lovely! The other new owners will also be very pleased with their new pretty dolls all dressed and looking as new! I don’t have an American Girl, but a Pleasant Company Addy is on my wish list for 2017.

    1. Thanks J.J.
I hope you find your Pleasant Company Addy this next year. I saw one on Ebay recently and she was a pretty one. Do you like the Civil War dresses? I’m guessing you do if you want an Addy doll. The Civil War dresses are my favorite to make… I’d make them every other time if I could get away with it!
Thanks for the nice compliments on my girls who moved on.
Now to get cookin’ on Julie’s outfit… my hubby is gone, my daughter is in her room, the dishwasher is loaded, so it’s some “sewing time” for me now!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I certainly do! However, I haven’t made one yet for my dolls. I’m an amateur seamstress, so a Civil War dress will be an exciting challenge :-). Addy has a lovely outfit, and I also think she has a very sweet face and beautiful hair.
Very happy to read that you have found time to sew, have lots of fun!
