Fabrics from Thailand for Ten Ping or Lian…

My neighbor is a radiologist and periodically he travels to all parts of the world. Recently he went to Thailand and before he left he wanted to know if I needed him to pick up any fabrics for me? But of course!!! I showed him my latest acquisition…Ten Ping, and showed him how tiny she was and said if he found any fun little prints I’d love to have something from that part of the world! Well, I got those prints this evening and they are very nice. They came in a little bag from the shop Dara Thai Silk.

Oh boy…look inside at my goodies….

Each piece is 1/2 yard and the white one with the little blue sailboats is a full yard.

There were also some buttons, roses, gold rick rack and a tiny little elephant too…

Ten Ping likes her new little elephant… she’s calling her “Ellie.” I’m hoping my daughter Rebecca can make her a sweet little necklace to go with one of the elephant prints.

So I wonder which piece I’ll get to sew up first? Maybe Ten Ping will have an opinion on the matter….

See you tomorrow,

    1. HI Christine,
Yes, Ten Ping is very happy lounging around on HER fabrics!
      Aren’t they sweet?

My thoughts are how very thoughtful of this doctor to ask you if you would like some fabric from this exotic place! It is like a dream !!! The pieces you received are wonderful and so colorful. I can only imagine how happy Ten Ping will look in her new creations.
I actually think you should keep the elephant and have Rebecca make you a necklace with it. You do so much for other people it would be nice for you to allow yourself to have something nice for yourself !! I bet others will agree with me on this.

    1. Hi Jeannie,
I think I’ll have him bring me some fabrics from all the places he visits… he did a good job picking out something fun for Ten Ping.
You know, about that little elephant… I think I’m going to ask him if that was supposed to be in my bag… It was down in the bottom of the bag in a little baggie. He didn’t say anything about the elephant, so I may need to ask him about it, before I claim it for Ten Ping… EEP…what will I tell Ten Ping?
      Thanks Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I absolutely agree with Christine and Jeannie B. in everything they said, Jeanne. Ten Ping will love her new outfits.
Have a happy and blessed day!

    1. Thanks Paula,
If only I didn’t have this wedding to go to…think of all the sewing I could get done… BUT, I am looking forward to it TOO much to let sewing get in the way. Now I just need to get packed…
Ten Ping will be waiting patiently for me when I get back home…
Thanks Paula, and YOU have a very happy and blessed day!

  3. What a nice neighbor you have to bring you back such nice fabrics and goodies. I especially love the little elephant fabric and the elephant charm. Can’t wait to see what you make with these fabrics!

    1. What a lovely surprise! Asolutely keep the elephant as he is. My daughter, a surgical RN, is a member of several medical missionary teams and I wondered if he is a member of a team. Uganda is the farthest she has been with a team. I’m waitng to see how you use the sail boat fabric, my favorite.

      1. HI Jan,
No, my neighbor travels all over speaking about the Radiology department and sort of recruiting students to come to the university.
Isn’t that sailboat fabric sweet? It’s so tiny, it will work for several of my “girls!”
        Thanks so much, Jan,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. HI Regina,
Isn’t that elephant fabric adorable and with the charm, (hopefully it’s for me…) it will make ONE cute outfit! When I get back from the wedding, I’ll see what I come up with.
      Thanks so much Regina,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Yes, you must keep “Ellie the Elephant” It’s just too cute and Ten Ping needs a favorite toy after all. :0) The camera caught her just after she smiled seeing all the pretty fabrics…and imagine your neighbor getting the right sized prints too! Fun times ahead!

    1. HI Kathie,
As I told Jeannie B up above, I need to double check and make sure the little ivory elephant was for me and not for someone else. I found it in the very bottom of the bag and just want to make sure it was for me. He didn’t mention the elephant…so ….
When I get back from the wedding, I’ll get cookin’ on something for Ten Ping…AND THE OTHERS!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Jeanne, late again! We are remodeling in the kitchen, and have been going out looking at countertops and trying to get some other odds and ends done in the kitchen before the countertops come.

Oh, what a lovely, generous neighbor you have! Yes, like others have said, keep the elephant for yourself! Ten Ping can play with it while she waits for a petty outfit! Every piece is so darn cute, I can’t imagine what I would do first!

I know the wedding is coming up this weekend, but if you can’t get to writing your blog, I don’t think any of us would mind, knowing that you are there and busy, and just enjoying it! You do deserve a “vacation” now and then!

    1. HI Linda,
Oh, the joys of remodeling… I know about that ALL TOO WELL!
When my neighbor gets home, I’ll have to ask him about the elephant to be sure it’s mine.

Yes, the wedding is this weekend…I’m leaving Thursday morning to take momma and me up to Peoria where we’ll switch vehicles and my brother will be in the drivers seat all the way to PA! I’m trying to get some extra posts written so I won’t miss any days…or rather, so YOU ALL won’t miss any days!
But the food pantry just called, Rebecca just found someone selling Schnauzer/terrier mix pups on Craigslist, so when my hubby gets home, we MIGHT go see them, I’m waiting on someone to come and pick up a bridesmaid dress that I hemmed for her… I need to put a color on my hair… pack, wash clothes, etc… forget making extra dinners for the freezer…George is on his own…
      Gotta go,
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Ohhhhh – I hope there is a special little guy or girl that George likes!!!!
Don’t worry about answering this…you have so much going on!
    Love the sailor material too.

  7. Charlotte Trayer

You are so fortunate to have such a wonderful neighbor!! Frankly, I’m coveting the pale yellow with tiny elephants on it. Soooo cute!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I know…isn’t that just the cutest print ever? That’s the one I’m leaning toward for Ten Ping’s next outfit… of course now I have to figure out some yellow or blue shoes to go with it…
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne
