Ellowyne’s Christmas dress is in the works….

A few days ago I asked my readers to vote for who should be the next doll to get a new Christmas dress from me… and Ellowyne Wilde, by Robert Tonner was the big winner. I don’t sew for her as much as I’d like and it’s not because I don’t like her. She is is gorgeous doll and has such a poseable body that whatever you make looks good on her. My problem is I sew most of the time for child like dolls and it just doesn’t come easy for me to switch gears to this 19 year old fashionista! But I gave it my best shot.

I first decided to buy a new pattern by Magalie made especially for Ellowyne.

Then I proceeded to pick out some fabric for her. I tried the red…no…it’s too hard to photograph.

Maybe the gold gilded prints? No…too blah…

CIMG4970

Maybe a Christmas plaid? No…too big for Ellowyne…

CIMG4972

Maybe a small holly print? No…I didn’t have any trims to go with this one….

CIMG4974

How about this pretty gold and cream print? Too stiff..

CIMG4977

Last one… A pretty Christmas print that is both elegant and a small enough print to work! Finally, I picked one!

CIMG4979

I am serious when I say I probably could have made the dress already by now. There were other prints too… I was just too embarrassed to show you how many I actually considered before finally picking the one I did.

Okay…let’s get this baby cut out!

The bodice and sleeves were a little tricky as the inside is completely lined.

I just had to pin the front panel up and see what it was going to look like…

The skirt ruffles were gathered and attached to the back and side bodices…

Tiny burgundy buttons and hidden snaps were sewn on the back…

Well, it’s 20 minutes after midnight, so I am calling it a day, or night… You’ll have to come back tomorrow to hopefully see if I get this dress finished.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
