“Dress of the Year for 2016″…make your vote count!

Thanks so much for all the votes you placed the last 5 days, trying to determine which dress will be “Dress of the Year for 2016!” I’m so glad you enjoyed doing this… (at least I hope you enjoyed it.)

If you thought some of the other days were difficult to decide, this is going to be even harder. You’ve got 7 choices to decide from today, so PICK JUST ONE from the dresses below. You can leave a comment below or send me an email through “Contact Me.” I’ll show a full length picture of the dress and then two others. I checked and re-checked and made a chart listing each dress, up until last night making sure there were no “last minute” votes that trickled in.

Let’s see who wins… tomorrow!

Up first, the winner on Day 1 (by just 2 votes) was Lian, in “Details Matter.” It is a pink and white smocked dress with a sweet wool felt bonnet.

On Day 2, there was a clear winner… Addy’s “Sunday Special” dress…the one I referred to as looking like a water color print.

Day 3 ended up in a 3 way tie. So that gives you a few more dresses to choose from… Remember to just pick ONE dress from ALL the dresses shown today.

One of the winners on Day 3 was Addy’s grayish brown Civil War dress I called “Charming Addy.” I knew when I bought this fabric, Addy would wear it.

Kirsten was another winner on day 3 in a dirndl called “Mid-Summer.”

Another dress that caused the 3 way tie on day 3 was “Ready for School” that was worn by my Lian.

On Day 4 there was another clear winner… Rebecca, modeling “Music Lessons.”

On Day 5, Rebecca won in her Regency dress called “Christmas Rose.”

So there you have it… 7 dresses to pick from. I don’t envy you, because I’m not sure which dress I would pick… Please just pick ONE dress and leave me a comment below or send me an email using “Contact Me” and we’ll find out (hopefully) which dress is the winner.

Thanks for playing along with this and I hope “your” favorite wins. Maybe we’ll do this again next year!

  1. Since I’m up late, looks like I’ll start things off. Yes, this was really difficult as a few of my favorites won the daily votes and I had to vote against them!! Overall, I just kept going back to Lian’s smocked dress, “Details Matter”. The fabric, the perfect squared neckline, the lace trim on the sleeve, the smocking, the ribbon embroidery with the pearls, and the lace trim on the skirt. Everything about it is just perfect, even the name. It’s one I would just love to own!!

    1. Thank you Ali, for getting things started on the voting! I appreciate your kind comments about Lian’s dress!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. It is very hard to choose! All the dresses are beautiful! I chose the Lian pink and white dress ~ Smoked details matter.

Happy New Year, Jenny! I wish you this year even more beautiful dresses, interesting ideas, opportunities to practice your favorite sewing, health and well-being of your entire family!

    1. HI Oksana,
Thanks for helping us decide which dress will be the Dress of the Year for 2016! I’m glad you voted.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Details matter! Dress is so sweet! Doll is adorable. They all are beautiful. Fabric is
beautiful. So she is the winner for me!!!! Happy New Year to all!
    Sylvia

    1. HI Sylvia,
I think Lian is getting a “big head” with all these votes for her dress.
      Thanks for playing along.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Well, this was hard. My two favorites, “Details Matter” and “Music Lessons” are so different that it’s a sort of “apples and oranges” choice. I’m going to cast my vote for “Music Lessons” for the same reason Ali cast hers for “Details Matter” — it’s one I’d love to have.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I guess a vote for the one that got away is a good reason to vote for it! Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Charlotte A,
I appreciate you voting for Music Lessons… Rebecca is smiling again…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. This is the hardest contest of all, Jeanne! So I am going to vote for “Details Matter” because I would have loved that dress for Betsy, and it is so detailed and perfectly sewn! You don’t see dresses like that everyday, for sure!

Back to cleaning out drawers, what I do every new year, even though it is January 2nd!! Happy New Year Everybody!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks for your vote for Lian’s dress! I appreciate that.
I didn’t clean any drawers, but I was cleaning house…Happy Cleaning!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. No Jeanne Marie in my mail box this morning. 🙁 So, I went to Idreamofjeannemarie.com to see if you had a post.
I’m gong with Christmas Rose. I love the reds and greens. But, it was very difficult.
I should be cleaning drawers, like Linda, but instead, I’m learning to knit!

    1. HI Joy,
My aunt said the post never showed up in her email either… I sent her a link. Wonder what’s up?
Knitting… how fun! I wish I had time to learn…
      Hope you learn quickly!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. The very aptly named “Details Matter” gets my vote! I have recently learned to smock, and it takes a lot of precision, and patience! They really are all wonderful, though.

    1. HI Theresa,
Thank you for your vote on Lian’s dress… I’m glad you liked it. Congrats on learning to smock…It is fun, but it does take patience and precision, just as you said.
      Thanks for your compliments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Mid Summer gets my vote. I love the colors and detail. The may pole game is darling. Hope it wins! 🙂

    1. Hello Carolyn Viola,
I wish I could say that Kirsten’s Mid Summer Dirndl might win, but I don’t think it can catch up now with Lian’s pink and white Details Matter set… sorry… :o(
      Thanks for playing along,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I vote for “Details Matter” as well. Beautifully sewn and embroidered. Christmas Rose was a close second for me. I had the same problem with the email not showing up so I clicked on Blog on your New Year message and it showed up. I have AOL too if that could be the problem. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for the interesting contest.

    1. HI Susette,
Thanks for taking the time to vote in this contest… It will be interesting to see who does end up winning…
Sorry about the blog post not showing up, but I’m glad you knew to click on the BLOG tab on a previous post… to get it to pull up…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Happy New Year, Jeanne! Today’s post should be titled, “The Best of the Best of 2016,” and what a contest it is! I don’t currently own any of the dolls shown today, so my vote won’t be influenced that way. And four of my five daily picks are represented here, so like Ali C., I will be voting against some of my absolute favorites for the final choice. But as difficult as it was for me to choose a favorite from the daily entries, in my mind, there is a clear winner in the grand finale, and I hope this dress will take the prize.

It seems that “Details Matter” is the popular choice, and I won’t disagree that it is irresistibly charming, but oddly enough, details matter in my final pick as well. As lovely as all the final choices are, I think you know which one is my favorite, Jeanne. I actually gave it away in the last daily vote. For me, there is no better way to end the year and your fashion review than with the graceful and feminine silhouette of Rebecca’s beautiful “Christmas Rose.” I think this work of art should be in the “Hall of Fame” of doll dresses!

Like so many others, I have admired “the details” of your elegant Regency Era gown so thoroughly that there is little more for me to say about it. From an era beloved by one of my favorite authors, Jane Austen, and continuing in popularity today, the flowing lines, raised waist, square neck and puffed sleeves of the Empire style are so romantic and almost universally figure-flattering, and in my mind, the beautiful “Christmas Rose” dress you created for Rebecca is simply unforgettable!

So that is my choice, and I’m sticking to it! Thank you for the wonderful recap of your designs, Jeanne, and thanks for giving us the opportunity to make our votes count with “The Best of the Best” and weigh in on “The Dress of the Year for 2016.” And congratulations to YOU on your entire 2016 collection!

    1. Thank you Anne, for all your details on why you voted for Christmas Rose. It really is a pretty dress and was my hubby’s choice last night. Rebecca picked Lian’s dress, so I guess we’ll see which one of them got it right.
Thanks so much for all your kind words on my work and the dresses shown and for just the way you “think” out loud in your comments. I love that!
      Thanks once again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. I’m torn between “Music Lessons” and “Christmas Rose” because I love them both for different reasons. I’m going to have to go with “Music Lessons” because I just love Civil War dresses and that bonnet is just beautiful. It is interesting to note that of the dresses to choose from three of them are Civil War.
    Happy New Year everybody!!

    1. Hi Laura,
I only wish Felicity’s dress had made it to the finals…then we’d have Colonial, Civil War and Regency dresses represented. Thanks for your vote Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Hi Jeanne,
Wow this was a difficult decision but lots of fun. My vote goes to “Christmas Rose” it’s just so very lovely and feminine. I love all the detail on this gown … Beautiful!
    hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Thank you so much Ingrid,
I’m glad you got your vote in on the dresses. Thank you for your kind compliments on the dress… I appreciate it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. I hope I’m not too late! It’s been a busy day, but I do want to get my vote in. All the dresses are beautiful, but my absolute favorite is Rebecca’s Music Lesson. It’s such a nice style, and the extras like the sleeve detail and pretty bonnet just make it a winner. Happy New Year to you Jeanne. I hope it’s a great “dolly sewing” year for you!

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
No, you aren’t too late… and I put you down for a vote for Rebecca in Music Lessons… I’m glad you liked it so much! I guess I’ll be making lots more Civil War dresses this next year. They seem to be a favorite…
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
