Doll dresses you’ve never seen before… from 2007…

One of my readers, Barbara, emailed me a while back letting me know she had some pictures of my dresses from a long time ago. She said she loved them and had printed them out on paper and asked me if I would like copies of them? I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to see what I had made 10 years ago. They came a few days ago and were all from 2007. There were even a couple I had forgotten I had made. I wish I had the 2006 dresses…my first year of sewing for the dolls, but *alas* 2007 will be fun for today…

Want to see what Jeanne Marie was up to 10 years ago… You’ll see my first Addy doll, my first Kit doll, my first Kirsten and Samantha. Some of them you will probably have seen before, but see if you can spot the “newbies!”

Okay, let’s walk down Memory Lane…don’t forget, they are printed on paper and then I took pictures of them with my camera…so they aren’t super crisp. You can also click on them to make them enlarge…

So….if you saw these dresses on Ebay 10 years ago, which one would you have bid on? OR NOT?

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

You sure started out right away with your trademark touches. I really like the third one down on Addy. The peplum and lace trim are so pretty. Kit shows off your use of the check trim with a flower print so well. All of your dresses were very special right from the start, the bonnets, pleated skirts, jackets, color and print combinations are all so inventive. Thanks to Barbara for a real treat this morning. Have fun with your family, Jeanne.

      Thank you Susette,
It was sort of fun seeing my earliest dresses, wasn’t it? I think I have improved in my sewing and especially in my photography… I wonder what my dresses will look like in another 10 years? Stay tuned…. :o)
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Hi Jeanne,

What fun to see these dresses from memory lane…I’d choose the red/white “feathers”/”leaves” patterned fabric…short sleeves, red ric-rac at the bottom. Thanks to you and Barbara for allowing us to see these lovely outfits.

    Blessings in your week.

    • Jeanne W says:

      HI Becky,
Oh, you choose Addy’s school dress… I had 2 coordinating fabrics and this was one of them… I LOVED this fabric… glad you did too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a neat surprise Barbara gave you and now us! The outfits are just as special then as they are now.
I like all the dresses Addy is wearing. Sweet collars with something decorating the middle of them. I like the different bodices too. Very elaborate. The last blue outfit on Addy is very pretty. Oh, and the blue print dress further up on Addy. The one with the straw hat. I love that one.
Kit looks sweet in the strawberry dress. I like the style. But Kit’s little suit is adorable.
What a treat for all of us.

    • Jeanne W says:

HI Paula and thanks for your compliments from 10 years ago… I’m glad you liked the styles then and now!
It is fun to go down Memory Lane every once in a while! Glad you enjoyed today’s post…
It was a treat for me too… you should have seen me scrutinizing the pictures when I got them.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Your designs were recognizable 10 years ago too! You have such a good eye for design and do such lovely work. My favorites are numbers four and five. I can’t decide which I like better. I guess I would have to bid on both!!
Thank you and Barbara for showing us some older designs. I never tire of seeing your outfits. I find them very inspiring in regard to my own sewing.
Hope you have a good day. It’s supposed to be another hot one today.
    Take care.

    • Jeanne W says:

      HI Charlotte,
You could have won them a whole lot easier back in 2007 than you could today… for a lot less money too… but sometimes they don’t go TOO high…
My sisters are almost here, so I’m trying to get some comments in before they get here. I hope it doesn’t get too hot for you… it’s nice here and breezy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. How fun seeing the “vintage” dresses. 🙂
    Definitely haven’t lost your touch!
Hope you have fun with everyone and maybe get to visit some thrift stores too.

    • Jeanne W says:

      Thank you Joy,
Glad you enjoyed today’s “slideshow!” It was fun for me even though I made the dresses! :o)
I plan on enjoying myself when they get here… and it would be nice if some “shopping” was in the plans… :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

You’ve come a long way, baby! But you started in a good place. You’ve always been great at fabric selection. I agree with Becky that the red and white fabric is a favorite. The first thing I thought was how well chosen the fabrics were.
If I were bidding, I think the first things I’d choose are Kit’s suit and Addy’s jumper. I’d love to see how you’d do Samantha’s walking dress today.
Your sisters will be here today. Good luck accomplishing what you need to and I know you won’t forget to accomplish some things that are just fun.
Rain tomorrow here, and then, Friday, possibly SNOW. Time to cover the plants again.

    • Jeanne W says:

      HI Marilyn,
I almost titled my post today “You’ve come a long way, baby!” but thought it might be too braggadocious… so I didn’t.
I’ve made Samantha’s suit one other time, that I can remember. It was a mint green one and I remember I got more hits faster than any other dress I had ever sewn. I mean it was like one minute I looked at it and then it was 25 hits, then 45 hits, and it just kept going. I’ll have to look it up and see if I wrote it down…
Oh, for sure, we’ll do the “fun” stuff…the other stuff… well, we’ll see…
SNOW? Oh Marilyn, you must live in the snowiest place in the US!
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Kathie Welsh says:

Oh that was fun for us so probably way fun for you…like looking at old baby pics .
I like Addy’s red Jumper and Kirsten’s light blue pleated skirt suit. So you have done lovely dresses from the start!

    • Jeanne W says:

      Thank you Kathie,
Well, I’ve reached the end of the comments from everyone, and I guess 10 years ago, I may have sold them all… that’s a nice feeling.
Thank you for your kind words, Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

What a wonderful surprise dolly parade, Jeanne! I loved viewing your dresses from 2007, and I can definitely see the Jeanne Marie touch on everything from your eye for fabric selection, to your seamstress detailing, to your trademark use of check trim. Embroidered collars, ruffled sleeves, ruched bonnets — each outfit is a work of art! Interesting to see all the AG scenery backdrops, too. Thanks to Barbara for the delightful walk down memory lane, and I will choose Kit’s summer-y strawberry dress with the check trim and pleats, please! So sweet! Hope you are accomplishing all that needs done with your sisters and having a lot of good “girl time” fun, too! Blessings on your week!

    • Jeanne W says:

      Hi Anne,
I guess my sewing and photography skills have changed but maybe my styles are somewhat the same… even 10 years later…
Oh my yes, we’ve already had fun in just the few short hours we’ve been together…lots of girl time still ahead!
      Thank you Anne
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Beth Hubartt says:

Oh my goodness! They are all absolutely beautiful! I agree with others who have said that you have excellent taste in fabric. And of course, I am so impressed with you sewing skills. Addy’s red dress in picture #2 is stunning. And Kit looks darling in her sweet little strawberry dress. I love Addy’s bonnet in picture #3, 8, 15, and 16. I’m fairly new to American Girl clothes and have never seen a bonnet like it. Does it have a special name? I also want to mention that I was in awe of Addy’s beautiful lace cap in yesterday’s blog. You are one talented lady!
Have a wonderful time with your sisters, mother, and hubby’s family. You are in my prayers.

    • Jeanne W says:

      Hi Beth,
I’m so glad you had fun looking at the dresses from years ago today…I enjoyed seeing them too!
That little bonnet Addy is wearing is just one I came up with I guess back in 2007. I must like making it because I’m still using the pattern.
Thank you so much for your sweet compliments. ..
      Blessings, Jeanne
