If you need a fun start to your Saturday morning, you’ve come to the right place. Where else can you go and get a smile put on your face just by looking at doll dresses? Why, I Dream of Jeanne Marie’s…of course! Good news! My camera is working again. I took the battery out and then put it in again and viola…it worked! I captured the color of the dresses a little better with it instead of my phone.
Talk about using every spare scrap of this fat quarter; I managed to get 2 pairs of pantalettes made for my girls and only had to skimp a little bit on the waist area of Noel’s. I used a piece of stretch lace and made a sort of yoke for hers. It’s a bit higher than normal in the waist, but I didn’t want to trim it off and fray my fabric any lower than it already was. It doesn’t show anyway. Ten Ping’s worked out perfectly with the scrap I had for hers.

The dresses now have a flower added with a few pearls sewn on and some leaves behind the flower. The belt goes around to the back and ties in a bow. It is stitched on so it won’t get lost.
Marilyn mentioned I should put something beside the dolls to remind everyone of just how small they are… I forgot, but will try to remember the next time I show pictures of them. Noel, is a Boneka/Effner doll and is 10″ tall; about like Patsy Tonner. Ten Ping, by Ruby Red Galleria, is a tiny little thing, standing only 8″ tall.
I only have a handful of scraps left and somehow, someway… I’m determined to make a hair bow for each girl. We’ll see if I can pull it off.
I love it when something this simple becomes a new favorite of mine…

Oh my goodness, Jeanne, those two dollies look like spring flowers themselves! The pantalettes are perfect, and the flower at the waist—so glad you did that! I do see the colors better today too! Not sure what you will cook up with those teensy fabric scraps, but I’m sure you will make something out of them! And then, that fabric will be all gone, making them one-of-a-kind dresses!
Since we live close, I don’t think I will be seeing sun today either. But more flowers for us!

I’m hoping to get 2 hair bows made if at all possible. I might have to have an underlining in a different fabric.
Definitely no sun today here… it’s raining and pretty cold… It was 45 when I woke up and our heat had to be turned on. The house was pretty chilly!

It is just amazing how much you can create with a fat quarter! I love all the new additions. You have a great editing eye. You add just enough but not too much.

A fat quarter can go farther than you think. I think I used this one the very best way possible. I’m glad you like what I added …and I like that line…that I have a great “editing eye”…I’ve never heard that before.

I wanted bonnets, but with the pantalettes, I think the dresses are perfect. Like Charlotte says, you add just enough. Bows will be lovely, bonnets too much. That’s good, because that handful of fabric doesn’t look like much.
It’s not supposed to rain here today, but clouds are definitely here and it’s only 39 degrees, definitely a cool, damp (from yesterday’s rain) start for the Farmers’ Market.

Aren’t they just adorable? Love everything about these dresses. I don’t think I’ve ever seen pantalettes on smaller girl dresses. Very sweet.

I have made a few of these little pants for Riley Kish before and she was 7 1/2″ so I had an idea how to make them. I think they add a little something extra underneath the dresses.
I don’t think we’ll see the sun here today…it’s pretty overcast and doesn’t show any signs of the rain stopping… boy, our grass looks super green today! It will really have to be mowed now after it dries up…

Sometimes simpler really is better–especially with such small dolls. I’m betting you can get a couple of hair bows from the leftover fabric, but you may have to face them with a different fabric. Glad you got your camera to work! The colors do seem to show up better today.
