Cool Spoons again…

My brother and his family are down this weekend and we like to spend every waking second together doing as much as we can possibly squeeze in each day. Today his 3 young boys wanted to go visit this playground down from my mom’s house and there ‘may or may not’ have been a pretty good wipe out in the mud… (sorry Taylor!) Recovery from MUD is pretty quick when you just graduated from kindergarten yesterday! I enjoyed watching them play so much I never took any pictures… silly Aunt Jeanne!

We mostly did visiting, but the boys (and maybe a few… ahem… adults…) wanted to go to Cool Spoons, so after we quickly ate a pizza, we piled in the cars and headed for frozen yogurt… I shared with you the other day about when momma and I went there for “lunch” but I didn’t take any pictures. I tried to describe the place but tonight I decided to snap a few pictures to give you a first hand look at what the place is like…so I’m sorry but this will be my post today… no dollies are involved and no fabric is mentioned…but very soon… and thanks for all your ideas on the Sister Set…

When you first walk in Cool Spoons, you are faced with a wall of color… every conceivable kind of candy, treat, nut, cereal, crunched up things, etc. can be seen in huge clear tubes that go all the way up to the ceiling. There are little dispensers that let you turn a handle and pick what you want.

You start by picking your favorite yogurt, gelato, sorbet or custard from a huge variety of flavors and put it in a cup.

Then you head to the “toppings” and keep adding until you either fill your cup up or decide “this is surely enough” but it’s hard to stop because you keep seeing things you want on top of your yogurt…

If you want to be good, they even have fruit… nah… give me chocolate…

I took a picture of my cup… you weigh your cup at the counter and it’s .49 cents an ounce. They do a booming business… and I helped!!! :o)

Well, I’m not sure this was worthy of a blog post, but it was either this or nothing and I thought this was better!

See you tomorrow,
Have a nice Sunday!
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Hahaha Jeanne! Those big tubes of toppings look like big bolts of fabric against the wall! So even when you don’t post about dolls or sewing or fabric, you still kinda do! 🙂 Sounds like a tasty fun family day.

    1. Hi Thetesa,
I guess if you use your imagination. Those tubes do look like bolts of fabric…
      Thanks do much.
      I hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday afternoon…
      Blessings. Jeanne

  2. How funny. Theresa said exactly what I was going to — those big tubes of topping do look like big bolts of fabric.
I wonder where the expression “bolt of fabric” came from.
People often fix big picnics for Memorial Day — I was thinking that it was time for a food entry, though I was picturing homemade pie, complete with recipe — and I got a food entry. Your Cool Spoons pictures are much better than the ones I found the other day.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Well I was going to make an apple pie for one of the guys from India that goes to our church. I will get it made tomorrow or the next day…maybe I’ll show it.
We patent having any picnics here…just visiting… and maybe another visit to Cool Spoons before they leave tomorrow. My sister in law got a $3.00 coupon on her order yesterday…
      Thanks Marilyn.

  3. We have something similar in Charlottesville, VA. It’s called “Cups” and let’s just say that the girls at the register “fill” the description! It’s really fun to add all those select toppings, but you can weigh down your cup with fruit and other hefty toppings to be quite surprised when the final weight and price is revealed!

Glad you had fun with your brother and nephews!

    1. Hi Karen…yes the weight can fool you sometimes..
It’s “cheaper” to get things like slivered almonds, whipped cream, and marshmallows but it’s not nearly as tasty!
Oh dear…the name of your place is a little “over the top” shall we say!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Thank you for sharing your “sweet” day with us. Family is super special…a true gift.

    Blessings.

    1. Hi Becky,
Yes…my family is very special and we love getting together…next month I think we ALL might get together here…
      Thanks so much.
      Blessings. Jeanne

    1. Hi Joy,
Well maybe vanilla with a few toppings? You might “think” only vanilla until you actually see all the choices…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. My goodness, Jeanne, I think I gained 5 pounds just looking at the pictures of all the yummy toppings! How fun it must be to work there, since it seems to be a place for happy people, for sure! I’m sure you little nephews thought this place was heaven on earth!
Thank you for sharing such a fun, “sweet” experience for the holiday!

    1. Hi Linda,
I really hesitated to share a post just about a frozen yogurt place but it was sort of interesting to try and make a fun story out of it…I’m glad everyone was okay with it.
It really isn’t a place I could visit very often….just when family comes in…that makes it more special!
I hope you’re having a fun day Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. There is a chain of that type of store here, but it’s called “Cherry Berry”. The grands always ask to go there, and I’ve learned that if I don’t impose some type of limit on the toppings, I will end up with a really high bill when everything gets weighed! I’m glad you got to visit with family.

    1. HI Carolyn,
They used to have the smaller cups at Cool Spoons, but I noticed now they just have the larger size… I’m sure it had to do with marketing… :o)
You do have to have limits on how much can go in your cup or you are right, it can get expensive…
I did have a nice time with my family… we said our goodbye’s tonight and they will be going home tomorrow and I’ll be getting back to sewing…
      Thanks so much Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
