Can you stand ONE more Valentine dress?

I found another Valentine dress in my archived pictures, being modeled by Samantha…and funny thing is, it’s out of the very same fabric as yesterday’s dress. But it is completely different. Yesterday’s dress was made in 2008…

…and today’s dress is from 2009. Again, my pictures aren’t great at all… Samantha is leaning and there are those dreaded white flashes in the background again. Just look at the dress instead of my crummy pictures…and try not to think of her as wearing football shoulder pads. *sigh* She already had the widest shoulders of any of my dolls so WHY did I put her in something like this???

If you click on these pictures they WILL enlarge…

This was my story line for the dress…

Samantha was so thrilled when Aunt Cornelia and Uncle Gard gave her this big and beautiful stuffed dog for Valentine’s Day. They always gave her candy, but this year…Oh my, this was just too good to be true!!!

…and here is what I wrote about the dress…

Samantha is dressed in a sweet frock, that is typical of the early 1900’s. It is made from a pretty, pinkish-peach cotton with rows of flowers. The wide pleated, drop-waist skirt is joined to the bodice where just a few gathers are evident in the front. It closes in the back with snaps covered by tiny pink buttons. The white venise lace accents the front bodice and carries over onto the sleeves. Three tiny silk ribbon bows are tied and their ribbons hang down from the lace. A tiny pink heart ”brooch” is added at the neck.
A small stand collar is characteristic of this time in history. It is covered with the same gorgeous lace that is added just above the pleats.
The hair bow has a snap clip making it easy to put in Samantha’s hair.

Okay, so here goes…

I hope this isn’t too much pink for everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! I did!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Where is everyone? I couldn’t be the first.
As they say, oldies but goodies. These two should definitely go in that book you are going to do on fashions by Jeanne Marie.
Glad you had a nice Valentine’s Day. On to Washington’s birthday, tax appointments, St. Paddy’s Day, and Easter. Lots of fun ahead.
Frost this morning in sunny CA. Burr…

    1. HI Joy,
Well, I guess you’re FIRST and LAST today! Thanks for your comments today… I’m glad you like the dress! She’s a bit on the wonky side today… tipped back, forward, sideways and more!
Today I’m off to try and get something “pretty” done in the church kitchen…
The sun is trying to come out here, but it keeps going back behind the clouds!
      Thanks Joy,
      Have a great day!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. No, Joy, you aren’t last today! I’m here and I had an early doctor appt. so thought I would write afterwards.
That is another beautiful dress, Jeanne, although I never saw it before. I had just gotten Molly for Christmas that year, so wasn’t even looking at anything for Samantha. She does look somewhat like a Victorian football player! But the lace is lovely,as is the case with all of your laces you use.
Can you believe it is 73 degrees outside right now? Tomorrow it won’t even go past 32 degrees! Crazy weather we are having, isn’ It?

    1. Hi Linda,
I’m glad someone else thought it looked like a Victorian football dress. It’s pretty strange looking…I’m afraid this wouldn’t make it in “the book!”
I don’t remember where I got this lace, but it’s all gone.
It was kind of on the warm side today when we were working…I’m not looking forward to the cold coming tomorrow… Oh well….
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Linda said what I was thinking — a bit like a Victorian football player. That lace is beautiful. I wish you had more of it — maybe you did and one of tomorrow’s pictures will show me a different dress with the same lace. I like your pink rug — great for Samantha’s bedroom. I like the dog you found better than the one AG created for Grace. I’ll bet some Samantha somewhere still loves it.
Speaking of love, one of my favorites of Addy’s dresses — the orange or coral one with the blue ribbons — showed up on AGPT under the new thread for homemade or Etsy or other than AG sources. I regretted not getting that one so I loved seeing it. If you ever run out of inspiration, you can let us choose the ones from your files we’d most like to see recreated. Maybe you should start a thread in which you show us some of your favorites from various periods and we’ll vote on 6. When you are done, you’ll have the selections for that book Joy mentioned.

Or we can start a series — Victorian Dresses by Jeanne Marie, Jeanne Marie Dresses for Little Darlings, Jeanne Marie’s Beautiful Dresses for Felicity, and so on.

I’m looking forward to seeing the progress on the kitchen. I hope the work goes extra smoothly today.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I just told Linda I didn’t have any more of this lace…and I’ll have to look to see I can find something else using it.
I used to always go the day after Valentine’s Day and buy all the little doggies and kitties I could find to use with my dolls. The last few years I haven’t found as many…
I love that I’ve created a Victorian Football dress…I bet no one else ever has! :o)
The kitchen work was slow going today…the floor had to be patched in 3 or 4 places, the cracks caulked, the paint for the walls was bought, rhe flooring was decided on, and I played Spackle Queen part of the day.
I was so glad I put some stew meat in the crock pot, on low, this morning. We just got home and it was nice to have some meat ready to use…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Pretty, pretty, Jeanne. Your use of lace always enhances an outfit the way you utilize it.

The “lurgy” has hit me today…thus the late posting.

    Blessings.

    1. Hi Becky,
We worked at the kitchen till 7:45 tonight, so I’m later than you.
Thanks for the compliments on my “Victorian Football ” dress, as it’s been dubbed. I agree with that name…
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne
