Can you sell a doll dress with a doll in bare feet?

Why yes, you can!

All the dresses you’re about to see, were sold and the dolls were in bare feet…and it was planned that way! I’d have to look up each one to see the exact story line I told about them being without shoes, but yes, they all sold.

The other day when I was in a quandary about what shoes Kirsten should wear with her new “Midsummer” dirndl, a few ladies mentioned I could always let her go barefoot in the grass. I think I have figured out what shoes she will be wearing, but it got me to thinking about other dolls that may have worn their outfits standing in bare feet. I looked through my archives and did find a few. I thought I’d share those with you.

My brother and sisters are all leaving today…so I’ll be back in my sewing room very soon… I had such a wonderful time with them and treasure the memories we made even this week! Love you!

Okay, now back to those bare foot beauties…

First up… my 16″ Kish Chrysalis dolls by Helen Kish…

Next up we find 18″ Katie Effanbee in a few bare foot creations…

Elin is posing in a sweet Easter dress and she may have been so new I didn’t have any shoes for her, but then again, maybe she wanted to feel the grass between her toes… :o)

I actually do think Bitty Bethany didn’t have any shoes that matched this outfit, so we let her go barefoot…

Nyssa was in a wedding and she kicked off her shoes for this photo shoot…

…and last up is tiny Millie, by Kaye Wiggs. She was being sold I think and that’s why I have my name on the paper in the picture…to prove I had her in my possession. She was the skinniest little thing and these overalls were a custom pattern I made….

Well, that’s it for me today… some bare foot beauties to start your week off with!

See you tomorrow,

  1. So many adorable outfits—and no shoes! I had no idea you posed that many dolls without no shoes, Jeanne! And to tell you the truth, they all are adorable! I especially like that striking blue dress with the white apron in the first group.

Well, my dolls have more than enough shoes, so they never go without, but after seeing your pictures of shoeless dolls, I may just try that sometime, provided it is something that would make sense for them to be going without shoes.

What a busy day yesterday, with Father’s Day activities! We had a family gathering, and I was just so exhausted since I got up early to get things ready, then church, then before you know it , everyone was here! I wanted to comment yesterday, but never got to it, I fell right asleep the minute I sat down after dinner and all the cleaning up!

    1. Hi Linda,
I had no idea I had this many dolls in bare feet either. It was kind of fun for me to see them all together too.
We had a busy day yesterday too and ended up at Cool Spoons…instead of making dinner… which was fine with everyone!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I too love the barefoot dolls. I especially like the first photo — I’ve always liked that doll and the dress is perfect for her and the background — and Nyssa, who has kicked off her shoes after a long day at a wedding. Her dress, with its frayed skirt, suits her perfectly and is in a Nyssa style that is still a Jeanne Marie style — it has that woodland fantasy look that those dolls seem to attract while still being very you.

Back to yesterday’s comments. Because so many of us move away from our home towns and home states, lots of us can’t take flowers to the graves of our parents and grandparents. It’s nice to be able to do that. Joy asked where I was in the 96 degree heat — I’m in Boulder, Colorado — and hoped it would be cooler today. It looks like we get a break — today should be about 80. Last night I went to water the flowers, thinking they’d be tired and wilted, but they were even prettier after the long, hot day. It was lovely to be out. You know how good it feels when the air is warm and dry. There were huge piled up clouds turned pale gold in the late sun. Sometimes the early evening is just beautiful.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dolls in bare feet…I did too!
I have had a hen and chickens plant sitting in the sun and it has exploded and has flowers all over it.
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I was reviewing the pictures before I moved on with the day. That’s when I saw the frog is Millie’s hand. Another great Jeanne Marie detail. I’m so glad I saw it.

  4. Glad it’s supposed to cool down for you today Marilyn. Northern CA is going to be Hot today. Must get out early and water.
So great to see the shoeless little ones. Perfect for summer. I remember my grandmother telling me about her young days. Come spring, she would beg her mother to be allowed to take off her shoes. Brought up in a strict family, she had to wait until May. Then, no shoes all summer. 🙂
I just finished making my first dolly shoes. Sandals for my Tonner Michael.

    1. Hi Joy,
I think I’m going to have to take at least a few pictures of Kirsten in her bare feet…
And I’d love to see your sandals you made.
      Blessings. Jeanne

  5. The barefoot dolls are so sweet. Even if you have decided on shoes for Kirsten, I would feature one of her barefoot. After all, Pioneer children put away their shoes when the weather became warm to “save” their shoes for the next winter, or if outgrown by then, to pass to a sibling.
I need to head out now, so I hope you have a lovely day.

    1. Hi Laura,
I’ve already decided to show at least a few pictures of Kirsten in her bare feet. I’m also going to try and make a Maypole somehow…
      Thanks Laura, Jeanne

  6. It did hit 102 today and yesterday here in Orange County, California. But the Pacific Ocean is too cold to be comfortable for swimming! A good day to stay in except to go out to water the flowers. It will cool off tomorrow. Love all of the barefoot dolls. Glad you had such a nice visit with your family.

    1. Hi Susette
Wow…102 degrees… I feel like I’m melting from just reading that… that is pretty warm. I don’t know what our high was today…maybe 95 or so.
I watered my things today too…
Thanks for liking my bare foot cuties!
      Blessings, Jeanne
