Barbie/Midge clothes pictures and sewing attachments…

About a month ago I showed you some of my earlier work for Barbie… (here) that I did when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I couldn’t find any pictures of my dolls modeling them when I did that post, but was certain I had taken some before I sold my dolls last Christmas. Well, I just found a few and wanted to share with you what they actually looked like on a doll. Now mind you, I only took these pictures for myself, so they aren’t anything to speak of, but they do show the fit (or lack of fit, maybe…) It’s amazing to think that I made these…and still remember the day for that pink suit. Such a long time ago and I’m still sewing, but hopefully you’ll agree I’ve improved a little bit… hopefully A LOT! So here is Midge modeling 3 of the things I made:

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge somewhat…

And here’s a drawing I found of some sewing attachments that I did. I was “ALL ABOUT SEWING” when I was younger…
When I got married, I couldn’t cook, but I could sew!!! I eventually learned to cook and now I’m pretty good… but probably not as good as I am with a needle and thread…

See you tomorrow,

  1. You were an amazing young girl to make those doll clothes and to pursue your desire and love of sewing. The red outfit really shows a talent for design and the other outfits show hard work and persistence. All talented artists start in some “fashion” ! Today, your sewing creations are enjoyed by many grateful doll owners. It’s good you take pictures of them to be stored in your archives. Your designs are truly beautiful.
    Blessings!

  2. Thank you Paula,
It’s fun for me to see how far I’ve come too! And I hope it encourages new sewers to keep trying. You never know where you’ll end up. I was in Apparel Design and look at me… I’m NOW sewing and selling doll clothes… who knew?

  3. Your email just came through this evening. ??? Your red vinyl dress is my favorite. You did a great job for a little girl. I have to know, was that drawing traced and then shaded or was it done totally freehand? It looks perfect. A+

    1. HI Cindy,
The drawing was done totally freehand… It looks like a copy but my original is just plain ole’ pencil… I don’t know why it came out this way on my post.
Are you freezing up north this evening? It’s pretty cold down here…
      Blessings, Jeanne
