Baby, it’s COLD outside… more doll coats!

If you missed yesterday, you might want to check out the coats that were featured… (HERE) I have a few more to share and needed to split up the pictures. Who knows? There might be more coats floating around in my computer somewhere. If I find them, I’ll most definitely share them with you.

Let’s have Nellie start us off today in a sweet Raspberry colored, woolly kind of coat. I don’t exactly know what this fabric was called, but I loved it as a coat, hat and purse set!

Riley was adorable in her fun purple swing coat and hat.

Molly was right in style in her navy tweed double breasted coat. Doesn’t she look all grown up?

Rebecca is looking quite charming in her “dalmation” coat!

Here’s Millie again in a short jacket with another furry hood. When I see her in these particular pictures, it makes me wonder why I sold her…

Lanie is showing off in another leopard print fleece coat. I loved how this one had the variations in the colors…

…and because the next holiday is Valentine’s Day, (well, next after New Year’s Day) I’m showing this pretty pink coat on Rebecca…it was one of my favorites.

Well, if these coats didn’t warm you up, you might need to go sit by a fire… I feel all toasty inside! :o)

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Jane,
It appears the coats Millie was shown modeling has made her a celebrity. I appreciate your kind compliments!

  1. I believe that is the blue coat I loved on Molly! Did you make a dress to go underneath too, and sold separately? If so, it’s the one! My Molly would have loved this! I love the black trim on the collar and cuffs too! It makes it so rich looking!
That first coat is just adorable too! I think even a real little girl would love a coat like this!

All the fur-look coats! I bought some of that fabric and made felt capes with fur collars for my granddaughters dolls, after seeing them in a craft show. Easy peasy! Wish I had pictures of them, but they loved those capes! They were young at the time, so capes were much easier to put on than coats. One thing about coats, is sometimes they are too tight when putting them on over clothes. It’s hard to put them on over other things without smashing the dresses underneath, especially sleeves. It’s really not a big problem when you only display your dolls, like I do, since it doesn’t matter what is underneath, maybe even just underwear (!), but for a child, it is hard to play with the dolls when you can’t get something one easily, so they just don’t play with it. I’m sure you have already figured that out, being the great seamstress you are, Jeanne!

Have a wonderful New Year, and I’m looking forward to your blog in 2018! Happy New Year, everyone!

    1. Hi Linda,
You remember correctly…yes there was a dress that went with the blue coat Molly is wearing. I might have to show the set. KIT wore the dress.
I agree with you about some coats being too tight with something on underneath…I can’t stand that myself, so I’m guessing the dolls don’t like it either.
I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Well, this time my favorite is that raspberry-colored ensemble on Nellie–just love that fabric, as well as the color! I love Millie’s outfit, too! (And wondering if maybe *I* might need a Millie now, when I see her dressed up so cute like that! LOL)

This has sure been a fun couple of days, looking at dolly coats! Because I, too, am a sewer, it gives me ideas for future projects, too!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
That fabric used for Nellie’s coat was sort of wirey and hairy but soft, all at the same time.
      I’m glad you liked it.
Oh dear…it appears I have started Dolly Fever with my pictures of Millie….didn’t mean to.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. That’s funny! I reviewed yesterday’s comments, and while Julie got a number of compliments, I thought Millie was the clear winner. Then I went through today’s pictures and thought, “I’ll bet Millie wins today too.” And then I went to the comments — only one so far, and there was Jane’s compliment for Millie. She’s on her way. Congratulations, Millie!

It seems to me that you once made a caroler’s coat. With the weather like this, a nice warm long coat, bonnet, and scarf would still be appropriate, especially if you made several in human size.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Yes, you were right about Millie being the winner…I wasn’t expecting that…but very pleased.
I thought about what you said of making a carolers coat one time…and didn’t remember that, but it got me to thinking about capes and I know I made one because I have a drafted pattern for one in my stash. I’m think it was a long cloak for Felicity…maybe I’ll find a picture of it…wouldn’t that be fun?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I filed a picture of the Blue Molly Coat with the title “Jeanne Blue Coat Like My Suit.” In the ’60s, I had a suit made of very similar fabric. Women “dressed” for travel then and I actually wore the wool suit on the plane from San Francisco to Hawaii in October, not realizing it would be 80 degrees there. I also had a low-belted coat of similar material with a blue velvet collar. Packrat that I am, I can’t believe it’s not in a hanging bag out in the garage. I just checked. What memories you bring back with the Blog.

I can’t believe all the different outfits you’ve made. I do think Millie will be the winner again today. Congrats on wonderful posts all year long and especially today.

    1. Hi Susette,
What a fun memory of your suit that Molly’s coat broke back to you. I loved your story.
Thank you for being a part of my little blog family. I love having you here.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I love your “Coat” Fashion Show the past couple days. All are beautiful. I especially love the raspberry coat & matching bag on Nellie – she sure looks great in that color. The blue tweed coat set on Molly looks wonderful. Enjoy seeing all the special trims and how adept you are at picking just the right fabric and colors for your girls

Pretty cold here in Michigan. We had frozen pipes, luckily no breaks.

Wishing you and all your readers a wonderful, blessed New Year.

    1. Thanks Leigh,
I appreciate your very kind words about my doll clothes and the way I make them. I do enjoy sewing and making miniature fashions for dolls!
Oh, I wouldn’t want to be in Michigan for anything right now! Stay safe and warm!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Pretty funny when Susette mentioned wearing a suit on a flight to Hawaii. I too did the same. Somewhere I have a photo taken as we walked down the portable stairs from the plane. In those days, you got off the plane right onto the tarmac and then walked into the terminal. It was quite a shock feeling the warm air. Didn’t take long to break out swimsuits and shorts though.
Speaking of vintage coats, I have a few in the closet. Most from about the 60’s. Haven’t looked at them in some time.
I’m all for Millie’s adorable outfit. It is dressy with the matching tights, and the sweet jacket ties it all together so well. Maybe something similar but more casual for the upcoming winter days. Something one of the dollies could wear outside for playing in the snow since there appears to be more of the white stuff coming. πŸ™‚
Have a great rest of the weekend.

    1. Joy, funny that you should mention flying to Hawaii back in the day, and about the portable steps! I did that too, back in 1967, and those portable steps were the only way you did it back then. I flew from St. Louis to Honolulu in December, and what I was wearing (don’t remember what exactly) was way too warm for Hawaii!

Jeanne, your coat blogs worked out just great for these cold days!

    2. Hi Joy,
I guess we probably all have a story where we packed the wrong clothes for the wrong place, or at least “showed up” in something not right.

I really should make a “warm” play outfit for one or more of my girls. I always wanted to make a snow suit for Molly with a fun pattern I have…maybe I will.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I’ll have to find that pic, but as I remember, my suit was seersucker. I can picture the brown/white stripes just now. Just the warm air was so different from that of San Francisco. I had never been to a tropical place before. And what fun! First time surfing! Loved it.
How fun Linda was there too. πŸ™‚
Would love to see a snow suit for one of the girls. πŸ™‚

  7. Hi Jeanne, I’m definitely a bit warmer viewing all of your coats, but for me, Rebecca’s pink coat tops them. She’s such a pretty doll. Perhaps the thoughts of moving a bit more out of the winter blues and into the lighter pinks/reds of later winter make me feel a bit warmer seeing her ensemble. They’re all beautiful in their own ways. Thank you for taking time to share all of them with us.

    Blessings.

    1. Hi Becky,
So glad you enjoyed the coat pictures. I think it was the right time to share them, and if I had more I’d share them because the cold weather is supposed to stay a little longer with everyone.
Do I hear a “I’m ready for Spring now?”
      Let me start.
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Dear Jeanne, what lovely coats! I agree with the others, Millie steals the show again.
I think you are going to have to purchase Millie’s twin in 2018. She is a cutie and I can see you working her back into your doll family (smile).
    Bonne AnnΓ©e!

    1. Oh Dorothy,
Don’t tempt me with Millie again… but I have been known to buy back a doll that I once had and sold… I’m glad you enjoyed seeing Millie in my posts…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Lovely coats! I liked Nellie’s yesterday and today. Raspberry was a good color on her.
If they were real, two of my dolls would freeze. Felicity has her cardinal cloak and muffs and mitts, Samantha has her plaid cape and the white hat and muff and my custom Nellie has that Sugarplum coat from long ago, but MG and Caroline have nothing. I hope sometime to make them capes. I found a pattern that doesn’t look too challenging.
We have had a “heat wave” and made it to the high teens today. We also have about close to three inches of snow, I would guess.
I hope your mom has a really wonderful birthday. I saw a sweet video recently of a older lady receiving a doll that she had either always wanted or to replace a lost doll.
Does your mom like your dolls? She could have one of her own to brighten her apartment.

    1. Hi Laura,
Marilyn asked me if I had made a carolers cape before…I don’t remember making one, but it did help me remember a long velvet cape I made for Felicity one time. I wish I knew if I had pictures of it…maybe they’ll show up somewhere.
My mom knows I make dolls and she loves to see the pictures of my outfits or low at them in person when she’s at my house, but she’s not into dolls herself…
      Thanks Laura,
      Stay warm if you can,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Usually I comment w/o reading the posts and then go back and laugh because I usually have the same thoughts as someone else ? before me. I read them this time and sure enough…
I do so love the raspberry coat as well..the fabric is yummy, the color rich and of course it fits perfectly.
So how did Mom do coming back to her apartment?

    1. Hi Kathie,
I’m going to have to look in my stash of “winter” fabrics and see what else I can find that would make a nice coat…
My mom did okay, I guess, but she wasn’t having a very good day today…she knows something is wrong with her memory and she just wants it to go away. It’s so sad…what an awful disease…
      Thanks Kathie.
      Blessings, Jeanne
