“Autumn Leaves” for Patsy Tonner, is alive and active on Ebay…

Once I got the dress that was supposed to be for one of the Effner Little Darling’s taken apart and sized down for Patsy, things just seemed to “Fall” into place. Everything went smoothly after that. Well, that is after I redid the embroidery work on the front… It previously looked like this…and I didn’t care of the gold circles. In person they really were too flashy.

So I took that all out and made it look like this…

I finished a slip for the set…

…followed by a pair of Thigh Highs in a sweet lacy knit…

I like her hat the best. This is the first time I’ve done a two-toned hat…and the colors were “spot on” if I do say so myself! I used some tiny dried flowers that Cindy had sent me in little basket and I cut out the wool felt leaves to embellish the hat.

I did make one little mess up on the hat. It doesn’t show and it won’t affect anything about the set, but I’ll tell you how I goofed. Normally I make my hats and take them off the hat mold as soon as I’m finished winding the braid round and round the hat. I then let them air dry. It was late last night…actually this “morning”…it was after 1:00 a.m. when I finished this hat and I decided I would just let it dry on the mold. Well, I guess the glue that was squished out between the rows of braid, had no where to go, so it just stuck to the inside of the hat. It’s all glossy now, and sort of speckled like.

The glue isn’t loose, and doesn’t flake off, but it’s stuck on and just looks shiny on the inside.

I have one small scrap of the fabric left and I may try to see if I can’t make a hat liner and glue it to the top of the hat…just up to the coral colored brim rows…

I was sort of sick when I peeled the hat off the mold and saw the glue residue left behind…Oh well, guess I won’t do that again…

Here are a few more pictures of the set…

The little Teddy Bear was something Patsy found in the Dolly Toy Box.

I listed it on Ebay and you can see it by clicking the picture at the top right side bar or you can click HERE.

If you just type in Patsy Tonner on Ebay, it won’t come up under her listings… (it’s an Ebay thing), but IF you just add the word “Dress” to your search, it will show up with all the other Patsy listings… (Patsy Tonner Dress)

I hope you like the final look of this dress set. It is VERY pretty in person!

I did something I don’t normally do. I put a Buy It Now price on the listing… that price just popped into my head and I decided to give it a try… :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh, it is so pretty!! Every single piece is so pretty on its own and together it is just perfect. I absolutely love the hat! And the slip with the little leaves — you know how I love your slips! It is autumn in one little outfit.
Hope you have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I like it too… and Patsy makes 3! It really is a sweet little set… and perfect for cooler days!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Darling, Jeanne! And that hat is just adorable on Patsy! I love the way you trimmed it and the colors go perfectly with the dress!

I see now how the first try with the beads might have been too much for the dress, as I am trying to imagine it on a 10 inch doll, not an 18 inch one, and that must have been a challenge to sew those beads on that tiny amount of space. The more simple you make it, the better it show up with out being too overbearing. As usual, a great re-do with the whole outfit!
Fall has arrived here overnight!!!! It’s finally COOL outside!!

    1. HI Linda,
I’m glad you like the “revised” looking dress. It really is a better design with the beads the way they are now.
Yes, it was wonderful this morning, and it’s 78 right now but nice with a gentle breeze blowing…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I was afraid the whole waistband would be changed. It still looks rich and lovely. The whole outfit is lovely and you finished it with your usual attention to detail but also with unexpected speed. I thought I’d have to wait another day to see it completed. You have 7 watchers already.

I’m sure Janie is now determined to have the next dress and I’m looking forward to tomorrow to see if she gets it.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Yes, I was a little Speedy Gonzales on this dress set… crank ’em out, I say!
Actually, George let me know we are heading to MO again, to help Gloria with some things. Larry had some tools and Gloria wanted to know if George wanted the ones his sons didn’t take. You know my hubby and tools…he will drive distances for them, like I’ll drive a ways for fabrics! So we’ll be gone until probably Saturday… I’m trying to figure out what to do about my posts… hmmmm….
Thanks Marilyn, Janie will have to wait a bit longer I suppose.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The ensemble is very, very lovely, Jeanne. Your work makes fabric, trims, braids, etc., “sing”. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hear all of the pieces together in their “choir”, singing the praises of being together? One knows it would be a happy sound.

It’s just come to me, I now know what I’d call your work-haute couture. Youtube has a series (minus one episode) that someone posted from the early 1990s- “House of Eliott” . It is about 2 sisters and the fashion house/haute couture house they created due to unforeseen circumstances earlier in their lives. Today, when I saw your detailed work on the waistband area, I thought how very like haute couture work yours is. It is wonderful for me to experience (IMO), a live person working in that direction. It is a very fulfilling experience for me each and everyday of your sewing to watch what you create. Thank you so much once again for your creativity and artistry that you share with us. It is pure joy for me.

    Blessings.

    1. Oh my goodness, Becky… what sweet, sweet things you said about my sewing and the things I use to make my outfits! I am speechless at your descriptions! Thank you very much!

I was just telling my hubby a few days ago, I think the people who sew are getting fewer and fewer. It seems to be a lost and dying art…. but I love to sew and I always have. Give me some fabric and a pattern and now, a doll, and I can be so happy just coming up with something. I love to create…and that’s why I never really liked doing alterations…there was no “creation” process in it…
I am so happy that what I make brings joy to you… I have the best job in the world…sewing and showing and sharing and selling!
Thanks so much, Becky… I appreciate your kind words…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Doesn’t Patsy look adorable? Everything came together so well.
Only going to be 90 today. Very cool and nice this morning. Love the fall weather where it is so cool, warms during the day, and then cools back down nicely. Will be back to the 80’s later in the week.
I wonder what Jeanne is going to make next?

    1. HI Joy,
Thanks for liking Patsy’s dress set. I really enjoying pulling this one together…(except for the ripping out part…I could have done without that!)
It’s only 78 today and very nice… I saw the 50’s in the evenings predicted for next week… YAY

Well, Jeanne’s hubby announced that we are going to Gloria’s house tomorrow. (Larry’s wife) She needed some help with some things and she had some tools that their sons didn’t want, and offered them to George. He never turns down tools… just like I never seem to turn down fabric…
So we are heading out in the morning and will be gone a few days… My girls will have to fend for themselves for a few days, I guess… I have a 5 hour drive, one way to decide who is next…. then when I get back I can attack it like I did Patsy’s dress set!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Oh boy, I hope you take some more pictures of all of the sights you see whizzing by on your long ride. I liked the ones from one visit of some park I think. Drive safe.

  6. Hi Jeanne, don’t know if you’ll see this, but I’ll add three comments, for what it’s worth.

1–in regards to this gorgeous outfit, I do love the “revised” waistband treatment–much more elegant and in keeping with the fabric, I think.

2–the hat–could a damp washcloth possibly have removed the excess dried glue? Or is it one of those cases where, when it’s dry, it’s really Dry?!

3–I’ve noticed this before but forgot to comment, but I do love how you use a close-up of the fabric as the borders for each garment you put on ebay. It gives the potential buyers an even closer look at the print and its colors, and also really sets off the outfit!

Our colds seem to be getting better, and tonight my computer is even cooperating (shhh!!), so thought I’d add a comment.
