~ Autumn Lace ~ for American Girl Molly is finished

I worked really hard to get Molly’s dress finished and when I was just about done, I decided she needed ONE more piece…

I think you saw the dress all completed, but here it is with better lighting…

I added a skinny little tie belt so it could fit wonderfully on any doll…

Here is her headband….

…and Rebecca made Molly a pretty ivory glass pearl bracelet…

This is Molly’s new pair of socks…

Just when I thought I was all done, I decided she needed a pretty furry cape to go with her dress. I found a piece of cream curly fur in my stash and made this short cape. It’s lined with white netting so it’s as light as a feather and hangs wonderfully. There is no bulk at all. The only thing is, the netting in her sleeve caps makes the cape stand up on her shoulders just a bit.

Here is a picture of Rebecca with the cape on. You can see how it lays on her shoulders without having puffy sleeves underneath.

I added 2 ivory pearl buttons to the front and attached a piece of snag free velcro as a closure.

If you’d like to see the set on Ebay, you can click on the picture at the top right side bar, or click HERE.

Thanks for taking a peek,

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Molly’s outfit is just beautiful, Jeanne! I think that dress is going to end up on my list of favorites, of those you’ve made! The cape adds such a nice touch, too. Good job!

BTW, I just found out that my new LD is on her way home from Magalie’s house in VT!! She’s a little Asian girl, and I’m naming her Pearl. Now I need to get some school clothes made for her, and start another smocked dress! 😉

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Thank you for your kind compliments on Molly’s dress, but HUGE congrats on your soon-to-be-home girl! Pearl will be a wonderful addition to your collection of dolls!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, Jeanne, Molly looks SO pretty in her new dress and cape, and grown up too! The dress is just perfect for those special occasions every little girl has once in awhile. And the cape! Well, you know shoulder pads were very popular in the 40’s, maybe not with little girls clothes, but this gives the cape a “40’s” vibe, and it will be so versatile for other dolls to wear also. The bracelet is a wonderful way to add a little jewelry without it being too much and is a great addition to an adorable outfit! Love the darling socks and hairband too!
Charlotte, that’s exciting news about your new doll coming soon!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you for your sweet comments about Molly’s dress set. Coming from someone who is totally smitten with Molly, I’m glad you like the set!
I think Molly looks very pretty in this color of purple.
We are off to Paducah today to help Rebecca celebrate her birthday! No telling what kind of “trouble” we’ll get into!
How was your class reunion in Cape? Did you have a good time?
      Blessings , Jeanne

      1. Oh, it really wasn’t a reunion type of thing, just that it was Homecoming and my class of ’67 celebrated their 50th year out of college! It was really crowded and we did not go to anything they had that was special for my class, who would I know? All my friends from my sorority live here in St. Louis and we see each other almost monthly. But it was fun to see how things have changed at Cape, and how things are still the same! I, apparently, have aged 50 years! All those steps are just crazy now, but I never noticed when I was going there!! 🙂

        1. Hi Linda,
Well, I’m glad you had a good time, even if you didn’t do anything special. Cape is a nice town and believe it or not, this morning we decided to head out early and take Rebecca to Paducah for her birthday today. We turned out our driveway and headed out…it wasn’t until 10 miles or so down the road, that George realized we were heading to Cape Girardeau, not Paducah….we are so used to going to Cape, none of us caught it until we were a ways down the road. We had to do a little back tracking to get back on course!!! Silly us!!!

  3. Molly’s dress and cape are beautiful. The cape adds a special touch. Rebecca’s little pearl bracelet adds a perfect little something and seems completely fitting with the time period. Overall there is a touch of elegance to the entire outfit.
Charlotte, congratulations on your little Pearl. You must be very excited.
Hope you have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I’m glad you think Molly’s dress is elegant. I wanted it to be dressy! It could maybe even pass for a Christmas dress if someone loved purple “royalty” that much!
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Today, it seems like there is cream on my cereal in seeing this new dress of Molly’s….it’s just so rich looking yet simple….simply elegant. It’s a seamstress’s treat to see your work, Jeanne…just like cream on cereal…a special touch.

    Blessings.

  5. Molly’s outfit is just beautiful. It’s sweet and your detail and assessories are perfect. I love her pearl bracelet and the cape. Perfect and complete!
Charlottes- how exciting that Pearl is on her way.

    1. Thank you, Paula, for your kind compliments on Molly purple dress. I’m glad you like it! The cape was really an afterthought, but I’m so glad I added it. It’s hard to tell in my pictures just how soft looking it is, but in person, it’s just darling!
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Good Morning Jeanne,
Happy Monday… Molly’s ensemble is perfection!

    1. Thank you Ingrid!
I appreciate your kind words about Molly’s dress set! Who would YOU like to see up next?
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Well you did ask sooo my vote goes to a little darling dress. But really anything is fine. It’s always a pleasure to watch your creative process.

  7. Seems like I’m always on so late now to comment because of how hectic things are right now.
Molly looks beautiful in her new dress. I just love those puffed sleeves. The cape is just too sweet I’m sure she’ll find many occasions to wear this darling set.
Congratulations, Charlotte on your new LD, a new doll is always fun.
As to whose next, I’m guessing Felicity if her fabric has arrived.
    BTW, who was getting Samantha?

    1. HI Laura,
Sometimes I’m pretty late at getting on here myself to answer everyone’s comments. Life just seems to be very busy right now for everyone!
I’m glad you like Molly’s new dress set and I’ll leave it up to the new owner to decide where she’ll wear it first! :o)
It IS exciting that Charlotte is getting a new Little Darling and it’s Marilyn who is getting Samantha!
Felicity’s fabric has arrived but I haven’t had any time to make a hat mold like I want to go with it… so I’m waiting on time…time to make a hat! :o(
      Thanks Laura,
Even if you’re late, it’s always nice to hear from you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I am a Mennonite lady who loves AG dolls and the length of this beautiful purple dress on Molly. Think it would look nice on Nanea, too. With any luck I will get it on eBay.
