Another Vintage Pattern to share with you…

I got such a huge response from my post yesterday, showing the Vintage pattern pieces from Betty.(HERE) Everyone really seemed to enjoy seeing them. One of the emails I received was from Kathy, at Sugarloaf Doll Clothes (HERE) on Etsy and she had a couple of pictures I thought I’d share with you that go along with yesterday’s post. These are from her Vintage Pattern collection. (Makes my paper vintage patterns look a bit puny…) I’m going to keep my eyes open for some of these.

Take a look at these beauties…

This is one set of pictures I would encourage you to click on so they will enlarge to their largest size. There is French writing on them and they are about the neatest things I’ve ever seen…

She told me the perforations in the cardboard patterns were to adjust for different sizes, and the metal pins at the top of the sleeve allowed for different shaped sleeve headers… She also said she had some children’s patterns from a “long time ago” and she would share them with me when she took some pictures.

I’ve been working on those Dianna Effner, Little Darling cowgirl boots and I hope you’ll be surprised when you see them; hopefully tomorrow…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Very interesting, and lost ofs versatility! Also interesting to see they are using the pieces for advertising as well! 😉

    1. HI Connie,
Aren’t they just the neatest things? I love all the advertising writing on them too. What wonderful pieces to have in your stash! It would be interesting to actually cut out a dress and see the actual size it fit back then.
      Thanks Connie,

  2. Wow…such an interesting vintage pattern. I have never seen one like it. Thanks so much to Kathy for sharing these incredible pieces of history.
Also, your cowboy boots are looking great!
    God Bless

    1. HI Marsha,
I know… aren’t those pattern pieces just incredible? Just think of all the dresses made from them…
      Well, every time I make a boot I learn a little more… they’re coming along pretty well…

  3. If you make a dress from these old patterns, I imagine you would need to wear a waist cincher or a Merry Widow undergarment.and a fainting couch to use in emergencies if anyone has palpitations or swoons.

    1. Hi Jan,
What I would like to see is just how small the waist would be on this dress pattern
I can’t imagine how small it probably is…

My sister dressed up in a tight fitting dress for a Gettysburg, PA event…and apparently the tight waist on her dress and the heat caused her to “swoon!” I’m sure it probably happened quite often…
      Thanks Jan,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Marilyn,
No, unbelievably, I’d never seen that book before, or even heard of it. I checked it out on Amazon and “looked inside” and it looks very interesting…and packed with information. I might have to add that to my “search for” books… Thanks for the heads up on it.
      Blessings, Jeanne
