Another piece for Molly’s pink dress…

Thank you to everyone for carrying on and chattering with everyone in the comments while I was visiting with my family. We accomplished lots and were all pretty relieved at the progress we made.

I’m so glad Linda had shared her doll house with me and wasn’t it fun to scrutinize the rooms for the tiny little treasures? Marilyn, the books you gave us links to were outstanding too… and I’m like you, chandeliers aren’t everything. Wouldn’t it be fun to shrink down and go in those little works of art?

Well, now to Molly again… only one thing has changed since you last saw Molly’s pink dress. She now has a slip…

…a white tulle slip that has 2 layers and can be pulled apart to make it even fuller under your doll dresses.

I found some pink shoes in my shoe drawer that will work just fine.

Maybe I’ll get her socks made and her hair bows and her “accessory” figured out tomorrow.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Jeanne, the slip is SO pretty, it could almost be worn as a summer dress! I love the lacy top and the tiered layers of the tulle. The pink shoes are perfect, although I know you are keeping those, but it is all going to be so Valentine sweet when you get it all put together and on Molly!

I’m so glad you were able to accomplish what you set out to do with your family this weekend, why, even the weather cooperated!

Thank you again for featuring my dollhouse, and thank you to all your readers who commented on it. It certainly made my day!

    1. Hi Linda,
Yes, the way tulle dresses are so popular, maybe the slip could be worn as a sun dress…

When I woke up this morning I realized I’ve GOT to get that dress finished TODAY and probably only do a 3 day auction and send it priority mail or else it will miss Valentine’s day!!!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Forgot to mention, did you hear all about American Girl PRINTING panties on the dolls? What a terrible decision!

    1. I hadn’t heard about the panties being printed on the dolls..that sounds like they are “cheaping out” on the dolls to me. I don’t like that either…

    2. I finally found some information and agree that it is not a great idea. Someone said they are on the new Logan doll and others. Will be interesting to find out. Seems like it would be difficult to put swimsuits or shorts on dolls. Some said that the underwear is sewn on rather than printed. Maybe someone knows more.

  3. Molly’s slip is lovely and the shoes are the perfect shade of pink. I’m glad to hear you had a productive weekend.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I was thinking this morning, “I probably should use the black patent leather shoes I have because I’m not sure they had pink shoes in the 40’s” but you and Linda said you liked the pink so maybe I will use them snyway…
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Oh, I think the pink shoes will be perfectly fine, Jeanne, although I never had any. You could try on both pairs and see what goes best, but I do love the pink shoes a lot!

  4. The slip is just darling and the dress perfect. I’ll try again to make one but know it won’t be as professional as yours, Jeanne. Glad your weekend went well.

I found a source for dresses like the ones that appear in Downton Abbey and are the real thing, not costume-y for dress up or Halloween or Steampunk Conventions. It’s The Wardrobe Shop.com, and they also offer the shoes and accessories. Quite expensive but beautiful. I’d love to see the finishing on the inside of the dresses. A Search for “Victorian Dresses” has other sources for more reasonably priced dresses. Can’t wait to see them and I’ll sure take pictures if it’s allowed.

    1. Hi Susette,
I’ll have to check out your link to the site you mention…sounds fun. And a “great way to get lost in time!”
You can make a slip…no problem!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. If any of you ladies live in NE Ohio or will be passing through, there is a wonderful place for Downton Abbey-inspired things called Victorian Rose Apparel and Gifts in Hartville, Ohio. It is a very large establishment where you might easily spend a half day shopping for Victorian women’s apparel, homewares and beautiful gifts, then go on to the Hartville Kitchen and Gift Shop for lunch or dinner and the Hartville Marketplace and Flea Market on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Not to be missed!

  5. Glorious clothing for Molly, Jeanne.

I too am glad to hear that much was accomplished this past weekend. What a wonderful family you have.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Becky,
I appreciate your sweet compliment on Molly’s dress. I better get cooking on it today and get the thing finished.
It was a hard weekend but with all of us there we did solve some things and got several more in the works. We were all pleased at how things were working out,….well, everyone but my mom…it’s kind of hard when “you” think nothings wrong and “you” are fine, but everyone else around you is telling you they aren’t! It will take her some time to process all this…
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Love the slip. So nice with the “think pink” dress. Molly’s looking quite excited to try on the finished product.
    Glad your weekend went well.

    1. Hi Joy,
I know Molly would probably have preferred a red dress, but I think she looks pretty sweet in this shade of pink.
Now to get it all finished and listed…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. You can’t have too much pink for a girl. I’m loving the slip and the complete outfit will be so sweet and perfectly pink for Valentine’s Day.

Glad you accomplish some important things this weekend with your siblings. A group effort helps a hard thing a little easier. Bless you all.

Eeeks! Painted on underwear?? I hope AMG doesn’t go that way. At least some of us have the older better-made AMG dolls.

    1. HI Paula,
I think pink is a wonderful color too and I agree… you can’t have too much of it! I just got it scheduled to go on Ebay this evening… YAY! I worked hard today!

Can you believe AG is even “thinking” of painted on undies? How silly does that seem! I hope they don’t! It makes you happy for the dolls you own that are the “original” way they were supposed to be!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Paula and Jeanne, they have already STARTED getting the dolls with permqnent underwear in the stores! However only the Just Like You and Julie, and somebody else will also have the new underwear permanently attached. It’s a done deal, ugh!

  8. Good Monday afternoon, Jeanne!

Well, I didn’t think I could love Molly’s pretty pink dress any more, but you raised the “love factor” for me by adding one of your sweet slips! It is pink perfection now!

Loved the pix of Linda’s dollhouse, too! I found everything and returned again and again over the weekend to discover more interesting details. It reminded me of the “I Spy” books I used to read with my son when he was young. Fun! Thank you, Linda, for sending the pix, and thank you, Jeanne, for wisely sharing them on a weekend to keep us engaged.

Although I’m behind with my comments, after a few days of consideration, the thing I would send you all for your homes is flowers. Yes, I know they are temporary, but I’ve always found fresh flowers so cheery, especially during winter. So to you, Jeanne, and each of your readers, I send a beautiful “virtual” bouquet of your favorite flowers just in time for Valentine’s Day. Can you smell them?!

So glad your weekend was productive, Jeanne, but hope you found some time for a bit of fun, too. You and your siblings are a wonderful support team for each other and for your momma. Trusting this “new season of life” will unfold exactly according to God’s plan, and that your mom will find peace and comfort in the constant love and caring of her family. Blessings to all of you!

    Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you for the beautiful bouquet! I have them in the middle of the table. So pretty! 🙂

    2. HI Anne,
I actually found one of our old “I Spy” books at my mom’s this weekend. It was always fun to look in them for the things they had “hidden.”
We did have some fun in the midst of all the decisions and stubbornness that happened. We always do have fun when we are together.

Like Charlotte just mentioned…thank you for the flowers! I love mine! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I was calling this dress “Perfect in Pink,” but Anne uses “Pink Perfection” above and I think I like that even better. Molly has always liked red, but she may change her mind when she looks in the mirror in this dress. She may decide to keep the slip when you send the dress off to a new owner.

I am glad you made so much progress with your mother’s problems. It’s a miserable thing to have to do, but it does help that you can all work together on it.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Well, I have used both titles before… “Pink Perfection” and “Perfect in Pink”, but this time, I decided to use the Pink Perfection…it just seemed right… and it was true… this dress seemed to be perfect to me… every single thing went together perfectly on it. It’s always a blessing when that happens. I’ll use the Perfect in Pink the next time.
Yes, it was a very hard weekend and I wonder how my mom thinks about it all now that everyone has gone home. I haven’t talked to her today… it will work out…

Well, I’m off to make a spinach pie for my hubby… I have been tied up all day and want to make him this….he found it in one of his chicken magazines… :o)
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
