American Girl Wellie Wishers dolls & an update on Felicity’s dress…

There’s a new girl in town! Actually, there are 5 new girls in town and they made their debut on Thursday. If you haven’t seen them already, American Girl has introduced 5 new little sweethearts called Wellie Wishers. All of the pictures were taken from the American Girl website… If you’d like to see the pictures clearer after you’ve read my post, you can find that page HERE. It’s fun to go to the page and look at all the fun things created for these new little ones.

They are just adorable and stand 14.5″ tall and are all vinyl. They are being promoted as a sweet doll for the 5-7 year olds…sort of a jump start to the 18″ American Girls. There is quite a diverse grouping of girls…

There’s Camille, a sweet blonde haired, blue eyed cutie.

CIMG2306

Willa has long pig tails in strawberry blonde hair with hazel eyes and a sprinkling of freckles across her nose. Here’s a close up of her so you can see how sweet their faces are.

CIMG2311

Emerson is a little Asian darling with dark brown eyes and black hair in pigtails… such a cutie!

CIMG2308

Kendall is an adorable dark skinned beauty with deep brown eyes and black hair up pig tails.

CIMG2312

Ashlyn has tanned skin with freckles, dark brown eyes and long brown silky hair.

CIMG2314

They each come in a darling outfit consisting of a top, a full colorful skirt and a pair of boots… they say to stomp in the mud with! :o)

American Girl has already introduced lots of things to go with them, clothes and darling little houses and lots more. Here are a few pictures of the “extras” you can buy for the Wellies.

They are $60.00 and there is FREE shipping on the Wellies until July 31st.

OKAY…so is anybody on board with these newest little dolls?

If those aren’t your cup of tea and you’re “old school” with the original American Girl dolls, how about taking a look at Felicity again. I had a dear friend come in town today and we had a l-o-n-g lunch to catch up on things, so I didn’t get much done again, but I think you’ll like these pictures better than what little I showed you yesterday. I didn’t turn on my lights last night when I took those pictures of Felicity, but tonight I did. You can get a better idea of what the fabric looks like and also Rebecca’s necklace she made…

I got the sleeves set in and the lace added to them. I used a little bit of tatting as the decorative part on the sleeves. It’s coming along… a little slower than what I’d like, but still, I’m making “some” progress.

Well, that’s it for today… I hope you have a wonderful Saturday! Try to stay cool if you’re in the heat like we are!

See you tomorrow,

  1. I have a great niece who may be ready for a Wellie Wisher by Christmas. I usually send either books or stuffed animals from one of the wildlife groups, but I may have to make an exception. The real question for all of us may be whether these dolls will be taken up by adult collectors. I’m looking forward to the first reports from buyers.
I remember the first AGs I saw in person. Nikki and I were in Whole Foods, and a couple of small girls passed us, pushing a doll buggy in which there were two large dolls. Nikki said, “Aren’t those some of those dolls? They look like they’ve been living in hell.”
Then there’s your Felicity, who looks like she’s been living someplace very nice. Her hair is so beautiful and you have once again chosen lovely colors that suit both Felicity and the season. As always, I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s post to see the next stage.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I think the Wellie Wishes WILL make wonderful Birthday and Christmas gifts for young girls who aren’t quite ready for the 18″ doll.
It will be interesting to see if the adult collectors end up with these little cuties. No doubt about it, they ARE cute..and bright and fun and sweet looking.
My hubby is working on a lady’s car from church today so I’m hoping to snag some sewing time myself!
      Thank you Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Absolutely stunning photos of Felicity, Jeanne….can’t wait to see the final creation. The colors radiate such a cooling feeling in this heat.

    Take care.

    1. HI Becky,
Yes, a little better lighting makes a big difference, doesn’t it? I think Felicity looks lovely too! Thanks for your sweet compliments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Felicity’s dress is really going to be lovely. The colors are just beautiful, especially on her. The lace on the arms is really perfect. Great pictures of it !
The Wellie Wisher dolls are cute and of course have neat accessories. That’s always a good selling point for dolls. I have to get use to them though as they’re a little more whimsical looking than the AMGs I’m use to. Perfect for the age group of 5-7. Wonder how they size up to the 18″ girls as far as being “little sisters?”
I’m anxious to hear what Linda thinks of the new girls. I thought she said she was going to the store?

    1. Thanks so much Paula, for your kind words about Felicity’s dress. I’m trying to fit some sewing time in today… with some “showable” progress!
The Wellie Wishers are darling little girls and I hope they are successful for American Girl. It’s always fun when something new is introduced. I haven’t seen any pics of the 18″ dolls with the Wellie Wishes but that would be interesting to view.
I see Linda has posted a comment below, so hopefully she’s got an opinion about them to share with all of us…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The dollies are sweet. Perhaps, for Xmas for granddaughter. Free shipping on them for now.
Felicity’s dress is coming along nicely.
    Hope you don’t melt!

    1. HI Joy,
I think everyone can agree that the Wellie Wishers are cute, but maybe not for everyone. I think they would make nice gifts for young girls and I like the petite size of them.
Thanks for your sweet words about Felicity’s dress.
I’m staying inside so I won’t be melting today!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Yes, Paula, I did go to the store yesterday, and wrote later on in the day, maybe you didn’t see it.
I’ll say that they are really darling, and have VERY bright and colorful accessories and clothes, and they are more whimsical and cute, but do not have sleep eyes. In other words, their eyes stay open, which is probably a good thing, and makes them waterproof too, for the younger set. While they are really cute, I don’t think I would pay $60.00 for one! They are nothing like Little Darlings, with their exquisite painted faces, but they are a cute doll, that I am sure will be a hit with the target age. Yes, they could possibly be little sisters for the 18 inchers too, but of course the hair styles are more modern than anything from long ago. Willa, which by the way is one of my sister’s names, has long reddish hair, and can also wear her hair down.

I love the way you trimmed Felicity’s sleeves, Jeanne! This dress will be very special and I can’t wait to see the finished outfit! Lovely colors that show off her red hair and green eyes.

    1. HI Linda,
I bet it was booming in the AG store yesterday, wasn’t it? Oh, how I would have loved to have been with you yesterday, Linda… :o)
Willa seems to have grabbed my attention the most… maybe it’s because of Rebecca’s long red hair. :o)
I’m hoping to get Felicity’s dress worked on today and hope I don’t have too many interruptions to my day. Thanks for your compliments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. The store was pretty crowded yesterday, Jeanne, but another thing they had going on, was that Fredbird was also coming for autographs, so half the store was full of people waiting for him!

Yes, Willa is my favorite too, and yes, she does remind me of your Rebecca! Willa is selling way faster than the others, and hard to keep in stock! I entered a drawing for one there at the store, which I won’t win, but anyway, if I do, I will pick Willa!!

  6. Felicity is lovely in that color scheme, Jeanne. The early West German version like you and I have is just stunning. I can’t envision why AG chose to archive her. IMO the doll and collection was THE best.
I saw the WW on the website, and while cute, $60 is really steep to me, especially with no sleep eyes or soft body.. I do like Willa and Camille, but absolutely no intension of getting them. I do think they are much cuter than the Hopscotch Hill dolls of long ago. I can see people using them as little sister to the historicals, but obviously one would have to sew for them

    1. HI Laura,
I appreciate your kind words about Felicity and her dress…or partial dress! I’m with you and can’t imagine why AG archived such a lovely doll. I think they made a huge mistake doing so.
I am intrigued with the Wellie Wishers but I’m not planning on getting them… Too many other dolls in my care that don’t get enough attention already…

I have to ask you, yesterday I went to Joann’s searching for the little mason glass jars you mentioned. The only thing I found was a half sized mason jar, sort of squatty and fat. Was that what you meant. I was looking for something that actually resembled a mason jar… I may go to Hobby Lobby and look at their jars..or those little bottles that can be used for bubbles at weddings…
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I love the neck line of Felicity’s dress…stunning on her. You are doing a fantastic job. I have 2 of the wellie wishers and although they are cute I’m not sure they are the same quality of the AG that we have come to love and trust. They do however fill the gap which was badly needed, but at the expense of loosing the Bitty Twins. Too many AG Dolls were destroyed in the hands of children too young to be taught how to look after them properly. Only time will tell if this marketing ploy will save their sagging sales.
