A slip, a purse and some gloves… for Easter Charm…

I’ve got to hurry as the wind is blowing like crazy outside and our lights are flickering…I think storms are headed our way too. If I wait too long, and the power goes out, there goes my blog post! I’ll just get my pictures on here and you can discuss them in your comments. I worked on the pieces to go with Eden’s dress as much as I could today and got a few more ready.

The first thing I worked on was her slip. It’s made from 4 layers of pretty pink tulle and has a stretchy lace waistband. You can slide it up or down on your dolls body if you need to hide the slip when wearing shorter dresses, or let the slip peek out below your dress hem if you like.

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.

Here is a close up shot of the slip…

The next thing I worked on was a pair of white fingerless gloves. I know…in the 50’s they wore cotton gloves with all the fingers in them, but I’m not into stitching fingers in tiny gloves, so a pair of lacy fingerless ones will have to do… They have tiny pink buttons on them…

Here’s what it looked like with the slip and the gloves and the socks…

The last thing I managed to get made was a sweet white wool felt purse with lots of embroidery and silk ribbon stitching. I tried to copy the colors in the fabric and make it like some of the little girls purses I looked at when I googled 50’s purses.

I didn’t put Eden’s dress on her yet, because I still have to fix that one button, but here is the purse on the dress so you can see them together…

Now I just have to figure out what to do for her hair…

Well, I better get off here… and get this published while I can…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Such pretty little accessories for that beautiful dress, Jeanne! Every single one is a piece of art in itself, and they make spring come right there in the pictures! I love the softer pinks in little girls clothes versus those hot pinks, so this outfit is just perfect in my eyes!

Just curious, do you always have 4 layers of tulle in the AG doll slips? I’m going to try a slip for Betsy, but wonder if two would be enough. What do your LD dolls get in terms of layers of tulle?

That purse—-just adorable! That’s another thing you should put in your Etsy shop, along with your fingerless gloves and slips!
For sure, I would keep Eden’s hair down, and maybe put a pretty bow in it. That would work out perfectly for a 50’s look.
We too, had a storm in the middle of the night, but no really bad stuff going on that I am aware of. It’s still dark as I write this, so I haven’t looked to see, but I do know there was thunder and lightning last night! Hoping to see the sun again——sometime!!

    1. Hi Linda and thank you so much for your sweet compliments,on Eden’s dress set…actually on her “under the dress” stuff.

I generally use 2 layers of tulle on my smaller doll slips but this one I decided to use 4. It really is nice and full.

I am pleased with how her purse turned out too. It’s so dainty and delicate when you pick it up.
By the way the sun is shining now, you’d never know it was so stormy last night. I was so thankful we never lost power through the night…
      Well, I better something done…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Beautiful accessories! I love your little slips. I bet it will add the perfect poof to the dress. The little bow is such a sweet touch. Completely understandable about you using fingerless gloves. You are thinking of the person who has to put gloves on. And the purse is so pretty! I would love a full sized version.
Hope the weather calms down for you. We’re having wind here too. I think much of the midwest is due to be hit with nasty weather. Stay safe.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you for your sweet compliments, Charlotte. I appreciate all you said about Eden’s “accessories” and just have one more to finish up!
It is beautiful today, with nice sunny skies! It could stay just like this forever for me!
      Thank you so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I’m with Charlotte — I’d like that purse myself. I can picture someone stealing it, first dumping out the contents — who cares about money — they’d want the purse.
There’s something about all our technology — all it takes is a bad storm to make it useless. I hope you didn’t lose power last night but if you did, it seldom stays lost for long.
The outfit is lovely. The fabric is so wonderful, I’m glad you found something worthy to make with it. You usually list in the evenings, so I’ll check in later to see if this is on Ebay. I’ll be sorry to see it go, but we’ll always have your beautiful photos to remember it by.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
We didn’t lose power and I was glad. We just had tons of rain and lots of lightning and thunder.
I’m glad you approve of the purse. It was a lot of fun to make. I even stole a few bolts from George to weight it and make it hang better on her arm.
George’s white blood count was too low so he couldn’t get his Chemo treatment today. We are back home and I am really hoping to get Eden’s last piece made and then get it listed on Ebay.
      Thank you Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Hope your power stayed on and storm over by now.
As they say, accessories make the outfit! Everything goes so well with Eden’s new dress, however that purse is something else. So cute with the gingham trim and all. I can just imagine those bags in various colors and sizes in your etsy shop. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
Our power DID stay on and we just had a,nice pelting of rain with lots of thunder and lightning. Today is a beautiful sunny day!

Glad you like Eden’s purse. I just cut out a rectangle of the wool felt and started nipping and tucking and stitching and beading and viola! That’s what came out!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. I can’t wait to get the whole outfit on Eden and see how it all looks…hopefully nice! I’m so glad you like it, Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. What charming “pretty little girl” accessories, Jeanne! I adore your dolly slips, and this pretty 4-layer pink one with the sweet little bow is no exception. Every dolly needs one, or two or ten! And although I can recall several of the purses from my youth, none were as lovely as Eden’s embroidered and beaded one. In fact, I would be pleased to carry it myself this Easter! The floral button closure is so adorable. Eden’s lacy gloves are very “lady-like,” and embellished with the tiny pink buttons, they are the perfect finishing touch for this ’50s outfit. “Easter Charm,” with all its accessories, is simply enchanting, Jeanne. Another picture for your book of Jeanne Marie Originals! ; 0)

    1. Thank you Anne,
I do think Eden will link quite Eastery when I get her all dressed up and she has all her accessories on and “in hand.”
Thank you so much for your very lovely compliments. I’ll be sure and tell Eden what you and everyone else said!
      Thanks agsin, Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. The little purse is utterly charming. It’s soooo cute. The embroidery is wonderful. It is so inspiring; I may have to try it out when I make my next outfit.

I’m probably the last to comment today. Creativity is tiring. I spend more time thinking about what I’m going to do than actually doing it. Then I see what you’ve done while I was thinking and realize how much more I have to do and learn. Do you make your own gingham piping? The purse is just adorable. Thanks for letting us know it was four layers for the slip. Can’t wait to see if the outfit is on eBay.

    1. HI Susette,
I know what you mean about sometimes taking more time visualizing what you plan to do, because I do it TOO! Sometimes I spend WAY too much time on figuring things out…

I do make my own piping lots of times, but this was some I already had… it’s a decorative trim that is in a tube… I got it at a store in St. Louis a few years ago.

Eden’s dress IS on Ebay now… it went on at 8:36 I think…
I have a dentist appt in the morning and since I was up so late last night because of the rain, wind, lightning and a brain that wouldn’t turn off, I need to head to bed very soon.
      Thanks Susette…
      Blessings, Jeanne
