A Saturday Sweetie to Start your day…

QUICK REMINDER:
Lian’s dress, called “Christmas Snowflakes,” ends Saturday evening (tonight)… it seems like it’s been a quick 5 days, but it’s almost over. Poor Lian…she’s going to cry when she sees me packing up the dress. But I’ll tell her we’ll pick out another pretty fabric next time and she’ll be okay… I’m telling you that to let you know…It’s okay to bid on the dress if you want to… You can see it by clicking HERE. Or you can click on the picture at the right side bar…

2ND REMINDER:
A while back, before my computer was dying, I asked if anyone wanted to show their dolls in a favorite Christmas dress, to send me one or two pictures. I thought we’d just have a little slide show of your favorites, since it’s mostly ME showing MY favorites. If you’d like to get your dolls picture (ANY doll is fine), included, just send them to this email address… jeannewiedlocher@gmail.com
I hope I can figure out how to get your pictures all loaded… because I’ve been sent some really sweet pictures!

Friday was VERY busy for me…and my hubby. We both were going in different directions, but our paths crossed about 6 p.m. and it was good to touch base. He was supposed to work on a lady’s hot water heater and garbage disposal, but he got a call from Jean that his car wasn’t working properly. That took precedence so he switched gears…and tools! :o) I was asked if I could take Bithar to town later on to pick up some things. Jean is graduating Saturday and Bithar said he needed shoe polish and she needed panty hose and shoes! Well, you can’t have a graduation without those 2 things… :o)

I was in the middle of some Christmas shopping when I got the call to pick her up… so I changed plans and we headed to Goodwill for shoes… she found 2 really nice pairs. Next to Walmart…for the “needed” things… In the middle of that, my mom called and said she needed toilet paper… she was OUT!…oops… gotta get that to her…So we made a big swing on the way back home and took it to her…

In the meantime, I had a phone call with someone asking about altering a dress… NOT TODAY… I told them.. maybe another day…

Back to my story… Bithar had dropped off the kids at a Nigerian family before we headed to town and while she was gone, I took advantage of the little “sweetie” in my car…Gaterah…or as I call her, by her middle name, Blessing! At first she was looking at me, like, who are you?

But then she was all smiles…and I couldn’t resist! I thought you might like to see her again.

In other news… I told you the other day my camera was outdated and I can only use it if I take the SD card out and put it in a little slot on my new tower… Well, today we discovered my printer won’t work with the new computer.. My goodness… updating can get costly if you aren’t careful. SO… Rebecca being the savvy one, went by Staples after work this evening; she had already checked out some reviews on some, and came home with a new printer… she proceeded to hook it all up and see how it interacted with the Windows 10…
W-E-L-L… it sputtered and spewed and sounded like a groaning dishwasher… AND Rebecca timed it…it took 1 minute 59 seconds to print out ONE sheet of paper with just lines on it…(a game I needed copied!) Between the noises it made and the speed (or lack thereof) we decided to box it back up…UGH!

So now I’m back to printer shopping…UGH again…

I’ll be baking today and even though I’ve made my Mint Cookie Bark, and I’m baking cookies today, IF you need a SUPER GREAT and HIGHLY REQUESTED recipe, you should give this Mint Cookie Bark a try… I did a post on it back in 2014 and have featured it again each year since. It is a full tutorial with lots of pictures of exactly how to do it… JUST SAYING…if you need a good recipe, you might want to try this one… after you do it one time, it’s super easy to do… Here is the link for that post… and the recipe…

CHOCOLATE MINT COOKIE BARK

Have a wonderful Saturday…and be careful out there… I heard on the radio it’s supposed to be the busiest day of the season… drive carefully!

See you Monday (or at the end of the auction tonight!) :o)
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Two sweet things to start our weekends — Christmas Snowflakes and the cutest little doll of them all, your own personal blessing, Gaterah. What a lovely baby, and what a year her family has had. Congratulations to Jean on his graduation.

Rebecca continues to be a blessing for you — how nice to have raised your own team of computer experts. We can’t forget what a blessing you are either, as you prepare for yet another dinner, while helping Bithar and your mother. Even if you don’t shop, this is already a busy weekend and it hasn’t officially started.

Our snow has melted and I’m wrapping presents. We’ll find out what other people are involved with on this busiest day of the season. I love this blog, with people from so many places doing so many good things.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I just sat down to watch the end of Lian’s auction and it was the first time I had sat down all day, except when we were at Jean’s graduation… we didn’t stay for the whole thing… it would have been 3 hours long… and the seats were too narrow, so George’s knees were bothering him… we left a little while after we saw Jean go through and get his diploma! We never saw Bithar and the kids…
Rebecca brought home a new printer and had it set up when we got home this afternoon… she’s even found and categorized lots of my pictures… I hope that helps some…
I wrapped 2 candy bars for prizes…does that count??? please say that it does…
I made my brother his Cool Spoons in a Box gift and it’s the only thing I have done so far… his family is going to love this years box!!! It even has maraschino cherries in it this time!
Thanks for your sweet email after the auction, Marilyn… you are such a fun cheerleader for me!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Good morning, Jeanne, although I know you are sleeping and Marilyn is up! Your blog has not been appearing in my email early enough, so I took Marilyn’s advice and just looked it up on the internet. It looks like you had an interesting day yesterday, and a visit with a sweet, darling little baby girl to boot! What could be better? Don’t you just love those cheeks?
What is it about Windows 10 that trips up so many people? I’m scared to death that we will wind up with it some day in the not too distant future! Did you ever try Google Chrome?
Today is supposed to be nice, and by that, up to 59 or 60 degrees, sunny and no wind, so we are going to get the last bit of leaves away from the side of the house, where they all seem to congregate when we have windy days. Can’t stand leaves all over the place with Christmas decorations out! Hopefully the blower will get it done faster than plain old raking, then I can get onto my cookie baking, like you. Then there is grocery shopping too, but I get that done early, like 7:30 or 8.

Good luck with Lian’s dress, but I think “luck” already found you on that one!!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, that baby girl is one darling little thing! When we were in town, everyone was peeking her under her hat! She was very good and never made a sound!
I’ve had Google Chrome for the last 2 years or so… loved it… Windows 10 has The Edge… Rebecca is trying to help me with it… but I’ve been too busy lately to sit down long enough to learn what she’s teaching me… It’s doable, but it takes time…
Lian’s dress will be taken off her shortly… she’ll cry and I’ll tell her how much it made and that she’s a little money maker for me, so she’ll be modeling again soon! That’s what I’ll tell her and things will be okay! :o)
I’ll be glad when tomorrow night is over..I need my life back… gotta get some things figured out… I’m too busy… and I’m starting to feel it…
Thanks Linda… I hope you got all your leaves blown away!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a perfectly beautiful baby Blessing is. She’ll pop up on my Screen Saver now and I’ll smile every time I see her. Does your organization keep any of the furniture they buy for one family for the next family to use when they arrive? I seem to remember a hurried buying trip last year.

I have Windows 10 and lost my named file designations when they changed the picture over to the new computer. Bummer for sure. Now I have to search for them by year. This is not right. I know they can do better. I keep the old computer motherboard so I’ll have the pictures somehow if they have to be recovered. Now they are trying to get me into Windows 11; no way. So glad you have Search on your blog site. Best of luck with the Christmas Snowflakes. Someday . . .

    1. HI Susette,
Yes, we do rotate the furniture around sometimes. There is also a church that helps out the new families that move in town… giving them furniture, dishes, and other things they need.

Rebecca has been working on my files tonight…grouping them together for me.. now I just have to learn how to find them…I think I lost all my titles and names too, but I at least have the pictures..
Well, Christmas Snowflakes is gone now and the winner is very happy… me too!
I was hoping to make one more dress, but there’s no way it’s going to happen.. I don’t know what happened to my Christmas season…well, I sort of do… but it couldn’t be helped I guess. I’ll start fresh again in 2018 and make some changes for next Christmas season…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I can see you’ve been crazy busy. Hope you have a wonderful party tonight.
Besides getting used to my new computer, (I keep going back to the old one because it is so much easier) the new keyboard is giving me fits. My old one has raised keys and this one does not, so my typing speed has dropped for sure. When Susette mentioned Windows 11, I about blew a gasket. Just when I think I have reentered passwords and gotten onto all of my favorite sites, along comes another, and I have to go searching through my book to find whatever it was I originally used. Fortunately, I still have my old computer to use too.
Thinking of your mad dash for toilet paper, reminds me of what my own mother used to do. Whoever in the family turned in their Christmas Wish List last was assured of receiving a wrapped gift of toilet paper as well as other things for the holiday. Point well taken. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Actually the party is Sunday night… but I have been working on things for it all day… getting things collected and baked and packaged…
Rebecca came home with a new printer and has it set up… I can test it out when I go to print out the label for the winner of Christmas Snowflakes… :o) She’s been working on grouping my dolls into folders for me… she’s also put together the pictures for the slideshow of everyone’s doll fashions. It looks wonderful!
Well, I’ve got to go… still searching for Christmas lights for the decorating tomorrow afternoon…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Dear Jeanne, I still don’t know how you get it all done!

I have a request for a future theme, if you take requests. It kind of comes from the ning postings. Today folks were posting about using the right colors on their dolls. You mentioned that about Lian in an earlier blog and what colors work best on her. Did you say she was a “winter?” I am not sure what colors that is.

Can you talk in the future about doll skin colors and what clothing colors work best on them? The Little Darling I just got is “tanned” and I know she can’t wear certain colors. I have her standing next to my Iplehouse Elin who is real skin. I know their clothing colors are not the same but I don’t know what their colors are.

I loved the show What Not To Wear. Maybe you can share some information with us about what colors dolls can wear.

Sorry about your printer woes. I hope you find one that works soon.

    1. HI Dorothy,
I made a note about your request for certain colors on certain dolls…I’ll do my best to explain it sometime…
My daughter found a new printer today and has it set up… I’ll get to test it out when I print out the new label for Christmas Snowflakes! :o)
      I hope you have a wonderful week…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Blessing is such a beautiful baby…and that smile just melts your heart! What a good mom she has…that baby is dressed for winter!
My printer is a Brother and honestly it is amazing…very in expensive and the cartridges last a long time and recently I found them on eBay for even less and even those are working well. Mine is probably 6 years old and still just fine ( what you are not seeing is me knocking on wood?)
I’m finishing my LD swap so I may take some pictures of that. Can’t wait to see the others pics.

    1. HI Kathie,
The one Rebecca brought home last night was a Brother and it seemed like it might work, but it sounded like a mad dishwasher and it took almost 2 minutes to print out one page.. The one she brought home today is an Epson and it prints out 10 pages a minute! Big difference. I can’t wait to find some time to give it a try…
I saw the Swap frenzy going on on Ning… I hope you get your dress finished…
Thanks Kathie… you’re probably wishing you had kept that piece of embroidered lace you sent me…it was a wonderful auction… Thank you again!
      Blessings, Jeanne
