I did it, I did it! I finished Felicity’s dress, “Colonial Rose!” Unfortunately there was time in my day to get the dress set all completed but not enough time to get it listed on Ebay… I’m hoping to get that done on Saturday!
I don’t always feel this way about every single outfit I make for my dolls… but this one is way up there for me… and I’m not exactly sure why. Maybe it’s the color on Felicity, maybe it’s that hankie and how well it looks with the fabric, maybe it’s the embroidery I mimicked from the hankie, or maybe it’s the look on Felicity’s face as she stands on my cutting table, saying (in unspoken words)…”Look how beautiful I am!”
Whatever it is, I hope you like it too… I was going to tease you and only give you snippets of the finished dress but I decided to go for it and let you see the dress from head to toe.

I added some pretty embroidery to match the apron and think it looks nice. I decided to forego the lace fichu this time…
Tiny bows in silk ribbon were added to the sleeves.
You can also see the white pearl necklace Rebecca made for Felicity.
I used some pretty white lace and made Felicity a bonnet. A lace strap goes underneath her chin. It is fastened on one side and snaps on the other. The bow is stitched on so you don’t have to tie it every time.
She got a new pair of lacy thigh highs…and a pair of black shoes that have been decorated…
I think she looks pretty Colonial, don’t you? If I get this listed, I’ll add a link to the listing on Ebay and change my picture at the top.

This is a beautiful outfit. The overall effect is simplicity, and you are right that this looks like, “What a pretty girl,” instead of “What a pretty dress.” That’s what dresses are supposed to do.
I really like “Colonial Rose” as a name too. And the black shoes, which accent the outfit nicely. Someone commented yesterday about the band around the waist — it really does make a difference. We say this over and over: details matter. This dress is another winner.
Yesterday was gray and cold after a rainy night. I wonder if we’ll have sun for the Farmers’ Market. Stay well and warm, and keep taking care of yourself. And by Monday, we’ll have something new to look at.

Yesterday was gloomy and rainy but today has been in the mid 70’s and very nice! It’s breezy out there and I almost took Felicity outside for her pictures, but it was a little too breezy.

What a lovely dress, Jeanne! You’re right, it didn’t need the lace fichu, especially with that lovely embroidery and beadwork. I do like the lace bonnet, though–a nice added touch.

You did it again, Jeanne! Felicity looks as delectable and delicious as a summer peach! I absolutely love the warm, peachy color on her, and you captured the vision perfectly with the gorgeous embroidery on the bodice. I did think the dress needed “something” there and wondered if a fichu was coming or not. It certainly doesn’t need it now! I love the little bows at the sleeves, and the darling cap is perfect for this dress! The pearl necklace is just the right touch, and you are now offering shoes? Just a perfect set up for a summer day!
We are in for a gorgeous weekend, low humidity, and plenty of sunshine! This will be the weekend to be outdoors!

I was inside this morning doing dishes because I sewed all day yesterday and I was inside this afternoon listing Felicity’s dress. Maybe I can salvage what’s left of today and enjoy tomorrow.

This is a simply stunning outfit on Felicity. Your embroidery work is always outstanding and it makes this outfit special. But, then again, so does that hanky apron as well as the charming bonnet she’s wearing. Rebecca’s necklace adds charm also.

Felicity looks as sweet as can be in her new gown. That coral-peach color is just perfect for her. It is funny that the light vinyl varies on the dolls just as on real people. My 1991 Felicity has that same peachy underglow whereas my 1991-2 Samantha has a pink cast and Caroline has angelically fair skin. I love the embroidery on the bodice and the little bows on the sleeves. that always adds so much to the dresses and the lace bonnet is just darling. Similar to the lace cap that Felicity has with her summer gown. The pearl necklace is simple and perfect like her set of coral beads it gives just the right touch.
