A Purple and Pink surprise for some little girls…

A very dear friend asked me a few weeks ago if I would possibly have time to make 2 dresses for a couple of little girls who would “really” love to have them. They are kind of in a “situation” and he thought the doll dresses would be just what they needed. He knows I sew, but wasn’t too specific on what he wanted… this is what I had to go on: one pink dress, one purple dress, one of them should be more formal and come to the floor, one should be a party dress, and both kind of old fashioned looking. It’s nice to have the liberty of coming up with something that you think will work. You just hope you interpret what they had in mind to their liking in the end.

I sort of procrastinated making them, knowing that I just had to have them done before Christmas, but then I found out the man was coming into town and would be here for 3 days. I was hoping to get them done so I didn’t have to ship them. I’ve been working like crazy the last 2 days using any spare time I had to get them finished, even staying up till 2 a.m. this morning. I did manage to get them finished and wanted to share them with you. I delivered them to him this afternoon and he saw them firsthand, arranged in the box the way I usually send things to my customers. He was over the top with how they turned out and “rewarded” me with a little something! :o)

I thought maybe you’d like to see what I came up with…

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
I DO love to sew and I’m glad you are enjoying what I’m showing each day!
Have a wonderful and Merry Christmas,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. They are beautiful and so girly! You are so sweet to make these for your friend’s girls. They will absolutely love them.
Thanks for squeezing in some time to visit my blog, Jeanne. For once I am happy with how many holiday outfits I got completed. I started sewing for the holidays in September and even started knitting Santa hats in July which just felt weird, but that’s what it took to be able to complete all of these.
Now…hopefully you can catch up on your sleep.

    1. Thanks so much Cindy,
It was fun to add something to my “to do” list that will be loved by these little girls.

You are SO smart for starting back in September… I should been smart like you..maybe I’ll learn next year!
Sleep??? what’s that? I’ve got too much to finish to sleep…
Maybe in January I can sleep!
      Merry Christmas Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks Christine,
I hope they like them… it was fun to make them knowing who they were going to…

As far as sleep… not yet… in a little while…
      Merry Christmas, Jeanne

  3. Jeanne, I read this very early in the morning, and thought I would get around to commenting earlier in the day, but it didn’t work out. I’m just too busy I guess!

Anyway, as I was reading, I thought you meant the dresses were to be for the little girls themselves, and thought wow, that won’t be easy to get done so fast, with the fittings and so on. Then I scrolled down to see they were doll dresses! Oh, they are adorable! The long one looks like a flower girl dress, and the other looks like a guest at the wedding! I’m sure those little girls were thrilled to heavens to see them! You are just too good!

    1. Hi Linda,
I was so honored to be asked to do this… the man almost didn’t ask me because he knows this is my busy season, but I’m glad he did. As I sewed these dresses, I was imagining the faces of the little girls who will receive them and how much fun they will have with them… I think they are 8 and 10 so they’re the perfect age!
That pink floral is my all time favorite pink fabric. I once bought 8 yards of it after searching for it for 2 years… Now I’m almost out of it again… I have it in yellow with mostly blue flowers but the pink is definitely my favorite!
      Thanks Linda,
      Merry Christmas to you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, they are beautiful, Jeanne! The lavender one is, of course, My favorite (anyone who knows me would verify that! LOL). Just so beautiful….Those little girls will be beyond thrilled!

One of the girls that works in our local p.o. has two little girls who are very into AG dolls. When they got their first ones, I made each of them a dress and included a pair of shoes, too, I think. I got the cutest little thank you notes and a photo of the girls holding their dolls dressed in what I made! It was so much fun. I’ve never met the girls, but I see their mom all the time, and she’s a lovely person. It was just fun for me to sew AG clothes again.

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
It was fun for me to make these too… just something fun and girly and wondering who they will be loved by! I like the pink one best, myself… my all time favorite pink floral fabric… to each his own, I guess!
It’s fun to make surprise things for little girls isn’t it?
      Merry Christmas Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne
