A “Promise of Spring” poem…

It won’t look like much, but really it is
The details are finished, oh I’m such a whiz
The sleeves, they are hemmed and the buttons sewn on
The hems are finished and the wrinkles all gone
The tam has 2 buttons to keep it in style
I hope you like it and hope that you smile
It won’t be much longer till you see it for sale
This “Promise of Spring” ~ filled with every detail

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. How sweet Rebecca and Nellie look today, Jeanne—–but those bare feet! Those girls need some shoes!! The dress is the perfect compliment to the coat, and the coat is the perfect compliment to the dress! I love the addition of the two buttons on the tam too! Every little bit makes a difference in pulling the outfit together.

I was hoping to see the dress underneath the coat, to see how the collar of the dress looks. Have you tired that yet? I think it will work out very well.

Your poem was so cute, and the title of the outfit, Promise of Spring, is just that! I’m more than ready!

    1. Thanks Linda, s
Sorry about not having any shoes on the dolls,… we had to pick up Sarah and Alba and Edgar last night at the train station, as they’ve been in Columbia for the last 5 weeks. Their train was almost an hour late and that got me home too late to do anything else about the dolls. They will have shoes on for the listing, just wanted to let you know!
I’m hoping to get at least a couple pictures,of the outfit in the snow…the sun is shining and I hope it doesn’t melt before I get out there…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. So cute, Jeanne…and what a savvy poem to go with it! The new owner will be thrilled with your lovely work.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Becky,
I always appreciate your encouragement about the doll dresses that I make.
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Loved reading your poetic work so early this morning. The rhyming shook me from my grogginess. 🙂
I’m hoping you have some fair weather to do your photo shoot. If not, can’t wait to see what you use for your spring background. If you look at the inside shot of the lovely finishing on the dress, the color on the edges of the outside of the dress look exactly like the dress color in your vintage photos from yesterday that I was talking about. I believe that is the true color of the dress fabric. If you compare it to the shot right above of the two girls, you can see the difference. It could be the background being used or lighting. I’m a fan of that slightly darker blue. That said, both pieces are lovely and I’m looking forward to seeing the listing. This set is so perfect.

    1. Good morning Joy,
Oh yes, a little Dr Seuss to start your day! All my poems have that same rhythm but that’s my favorite way to rhyme…
The actual fabric when you look at it, is kind of a gray background and the flowers are navy blue and steel blue but I think when my dress was laid flat and open on my table, the light from above made it look a little differently.
Maybe some outside pictures will show the true color.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Wow! Just wow. The dress and coat are perfection. I adore everything about them and makes me wish that I owned a AM girl. Sometimes its difficult to combine patterns but these work great together. You are a whiz. I can’t believe how quickly they came together and that everything about them is perfect. I love the lace applique under the collar of her coat and the lace collar the dress that will peak out once the coat is on. Little ballet sleeper shoes and this is the best Easter outfit.

    1. Thank you Sandra,
I’m not really a wiz I just like to sew and I’ve had lots and lots of practice!
I’ve got to get in my doll shoe drawer pretty quickly and see if I can find some shoes so I can get outside and take some pictures in the snow before it all melts.
Thank you for your sweet compliments, Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Loved reading your poem this morning. “Promise of Spring” is really coming together. As always, your eye for detail really makes the outfit. I also love the lace applique under the coat collar and the button details.
    Take care

    1. Thank you Leigh,
Yes, for this to be two pieces, a dress and a coat, it really did come together quickly. I was pretty much amazed at that myself. Now to get the things listed.
      Thank you Leigh,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Oh wow, do I like it! And yes, I did smile
At this charming ensemble in Victorian style

Everything went so smoothly, and stitched up so fast
Now “Promise of Spring” is finished at last

The buttons and lace add the perfect detail
I’m certain this evening you will list it “For Sale”

These two darling girls look so sweet in soft blue
Thanks for sharing your process, and kudos to you!

Just beautiful, Jeanne! Have a good Thursday, everyone!

  7. Such a clever poem to introduce “Promise of Spring.” Your talents amaze me. Well, the dress couldn’t be more sweet and your design is lovely. The lining of the coat is so neat and exact. Your choices of material are all perfect together. What a beautiful set.
