A pretty little dress for that pretty pink hat…

PLEASE NOTE:
My first dress for sweet little Noel is ending this evening on Ebay. She’s my newest little model, and stands just 10″ tall. This was my first dress for her, and she will be so sad to learn what happens around here… you model and then the dress will be sent off to some other little girl to wear… but *alas* your turn comes up again and you get to show off another pretty dress… it’s not too bad…

If you’d like to see her dress listing on Ebay, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click on this link that will take you to the listing…

You’ll be happy to see what I’ve gotten done on the dress that goes with the pink hat I showed you yesterday. If you didn’t read the comments you might not know, but that fabric the hat was sitting on was the fabric I was planning on using for the dress. I’m not finished, as I’m sure you’ll see, but you can see how the set is starting to take shape.

The sleeves are puffed and heirloom lace was added to the elasticized edge. My favorite Swiss Batiste lace is sewn in at the waist and you can see the embroidery floss I’ve picked out… any guesses what that’s for??

I left the skirt about tea length and hemmed it by hand.

I forgot to take pictures of it, but there are 3 tiny red buttons on the back covering the hidden snaps.

The inside bodice is lined with a white cotton fabric and all the edges are whip stitched in place.

Here’s one last picture to hold you over till tomorrow… and hopefully I’ll have more to show you.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh Jeanne, Isabelle will be the belle of the Easter parade! I can just see her bursting with pride on how pretty she knows she looks! The dress is adorable and yes, I am thinking, that you are going to embroider the Swiss Batiste lace around the waistband? I know you, you can’t just stop at a regular dress without giving it special “Jeanne Marie” touches!

That hat is just adorable, and you should make some for your Etsy shop!

How about this weather? Going up to 77 degrees today and the buds are coming out on the flowering trees already. You just know we will have a killing frost sometime, then what—-no blooms. I’m worried about my azalea bush!!!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for your kind compliments on Isabelle’s new dress. You guessed right on the embroidery floss…I’m hoping to get that done today…
It’s only 53 right now but it’s supposed to get up to 70 today. People have been walking around here with shorts and flip flops on. Yesterday I saw a convertible…with the top down…you’d never guess it was February. ..
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. The dress is just precious! It goes so perfectly with the little hat. It is a delightful spring outfit. All of your tiny touches (like tiny buttons) are what make your outfits so special. I’m looking forward to seeing everything finished.
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for your sweet thoughts about the doll dress…I do love making pretty little girls things…so glad you like looking at them.
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you very much, Becky!
Last night i was trying to remember where I got this fabric. I can’t for the life of me remember.
      Blessings to you,
      ~ Jeanne

  3. I think you’re going to have to make two of some of these fabulous outfits. Then one could be displayed for the season. You know to decorate your studio and show visitors!
You’ve certainly been busy. Hats, dresses oh my.
It’s a clear blue sky day! Yay.

    1. Hi Joy,
Sometimes I think about how much fun it would be and nice it would look if my girls all had dresses on as they stood on the dolly shelf…but I’m too busy sewing for everyone else’s dolls…Oh well, that’s okay…

It’s a gorgeous day here in Southern Illinois too! If it gets cold again, and I’m pretty sure it will, we are going to be so spoiled.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. This outfit is going to be absolutely adorable when finished. So sweet and springtime looking. I love the hat. It is the perfect pink shade and then the flowers just add that right amount of lush! Isabelle looks perfect in it.
Maybe Noel’s sisters could keep Noel busy with the little toys in your drawer so the dress leaving won’t make her feel so sad. : )

    1. Thank you Paula,
I appreciate your very kind words about Isabelle’s dress and hat. I have to agree, she really looks pretty in this one!
We’ll figure out something to get that dress off her. Maybe during “naptime” this afternoon I can sneak it off her…:o)
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. It’s a beautiful outfit! It looks like it’s finished on the inside the way I do mine. I love the hat. Remember bidders, the hat alone is going for $20-25 on eBay and Etsy. The print is exactly the right size for Isabelle. Another triumph!

    1. Hi Susette,
Thank you “Miss Susette Cheerleader ” for your kind comments on this set. I appreciate your enthusiasm on it!
I still have lots to do so I better get busy!
      Have a great day Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. This ensemble is just enchanting, Jeanne! Isabelle is a little blossoming beauty in this very pretty Spring dress! I love all the Jeanne Marie touches, and the sweet straw hat is the crowning glory of the outfit. It compliments Isabelle’s dark hair so nicely. Since you have three colors of floss, I’m thinking there might be a double bow at the waist along with the embroidered Batiste lace. I’m also wondering if you sewed the buttons on the back of the dress with your special “flower” technique? “Inquiring minds” want–make that NEED– to know! Standing by for more details…….

    1. Hi Anne and thank you so much for your sweet compliments on Isabelle’s dress set. I just finished it so you’ll most likely see it tomorrow!
Well you got one out of two things right…but I’ll keep it a surprise… sorry…
      Thanks Anne

  7. LOVE the hat!!! Would love to see a little tutorial or in-process shots of how these hats are made!! The dress is precious also, but I already know how to sew :-)!

    1. Hi designdreamer,
Thanks for the compliments on Isabelle’s new hat. I think I might do a tutorial on how they are made. I love them…
      Blessings, Jeanne
