~ A Peach of a Valentine ~ Kit looks so adorable!!

Well, if you had asked me a month ago if Kit would ever have looked this sweet, I would have had my doubts. Now when I look at her, her lips look so “NORMAL” you’d never know anything was wrong with them… at least I hope you don’t notice them.

As my hubby would say, “She cleaned up real well!”

I showed Kit wearing a straw hat yesterday, but decided it was just too small for her head, so I decided to make her a little hat that would maybe have been seen in the 1930’s. It’s from a pattern from that era and isn’t the lace, but another fabric I had that I thought gave it a little bit of texture. The lace like her jacket is made out of wouldn’t have worked because the hat had to be lined and interfaced to hold its shape and that would have shown through.

After I made her hat, I decided to see if I had any ribbon for a bow…yep, I had the perfect match in my stash so I decided to go ahead and make a bow too! It has a snap clip and can be put in her hair very easily.

Now what would Valentine’s Day be without some Valentine cards. I found a few old fashioned ones and shrunk them down and made her 5 sweet cards to give her friends at school. (I just LOVE a fun scissors and glue project!!! I always have!)

I also made her a new pair of stretch lace socks to go with her new dress set.

I will do my best to get this listed on Ebay this evening… I hope it looks like a “Peach of a Valentine” to you!!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Too cute, Jeanne! I still liked the straw hat best, but maybe if I saw it in person, I would have thought differently. Oh well, this one is cute too! The bow is adorable, and what I would also have put on her, depending on where she was going. It makes it more versatile, I think.
I remember Valentines like that, and loved it when we made our own special boxes to put them in at school. Sadly, many schools are doing away with Valentine parties. I miss those ” cut and paste” days too!

    1. HI Linda,
I do think if you saw it in person, just perched on top of her head, you’d agree that it was too small.
I think I may get out my yarns and see if I have any peach colored yarns and “see” if I can crochet her a cloche hat to go with it.
Yes, I loved making the Valentine’s cards in grade school and the boxes too! What fun it was…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Kit sure is a “Peach of a Valentine”, Jeanne. I like the bow in her hair the best, but her hat is really cute too. Overall, it’s a perfect Valentine’s Day set and I’m sure Kit is tickled ‘peach’ with it.

Isn’t it great that we can find vintage Valentine’s online to print out for our dolls! My Gina had a bag of them last year, she had fun giving them to her friends. lol

Wishing you a great day today, Jeanne!

    1. HI Cindy,
Thanks for your sweet comments… After looking at the pictures of her in the hat and the hair bow, I think I like the bow best too. Somehow it shows off the shape of her face better…

Rebecca was helping me print them off last night and I wish I could have gotten them just a little bit smaller, but I guess they are okay. I think I remember Gina’s cards last year.

I’m going to see if I can’t find some yarn and crochet Kit a cloche… maybe….
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Kit looks great. So glad you didn’t use the straw hat. It was just too small. Amazing job on her lips too.

    1. HI Cindy,
Thanks for your sweet comments on Kit’s new Valentine Dress set. I’m glad you like her lips too… she does too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Kit looks adorable in her Valentine ensemble. I think I like the bow the best, but her hat is also cute. I love the vintage Valentines!

    1. Thanks Regina,
Another dress down and ready for her school party, I guess.
It’s fun looking at the old Valentine cards online… they were so corny and cute at the same time… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Oh how peachy keen!! Wrong saying for Kit’s era but it came to me when I first saw the Valentine outfit. It is so sweet and refreshingly peachy pink. Another beautiful dress and hat!
Love those old Valentine cards. I have a few of those older cards too. Some were from my husband’s parents when they were young. Kit having her little handful of them is just too precious.
    Have a wonderful day, Jeanne.

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m glad you like Kit’s new Valentine dress. She looks good in that color, doesn’t she?
I LOVE old Valentine cards and we have a few from when my hubby was a little boy. I just love looking at them, and dreaming of the olden days!!!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Love Kit with the big bow! Hope you have time to make the cloche, not that her current hat isn’t cute. It is right with the era. Had fun looking at vintage hats yesterday. Maybe I too need a Kit.

    1. HI Joy,
      Oh, I think everyone needs a Kit… she is such a cutie…
I just finished her cloche…first hat I’ve ever crocheted for the American Girl dolls. I found a youtube video and followed along. It’s not perfect and I haven’t even tried it on her yet… so we’ll see how it looks.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Jan,
No, I didn’t try to steam it, but moved on to making her a hat… I might try steaming it later to see if it would stretch any… It only needs to expand by just a little git.
I think Kit does look pretty in these pinky/peachy tones too!
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. As usual..I like the Bow and the hat…Either one is just darling. The Valentines are a good accessory…you always make such nice presentation!

    1. HI Kathie,
Thank you for your very kind words about Kit’s dress. I made something else to go with it too! You’ll see it on tomorrow’s post… I was pretty proud of myself… I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks after all!
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanen

  8. Kit is simply adorable in this beautiful ensemble that you’ve put together for her. This is another outstanding work of your’s, Jeanne.

    1. Thank you Becky,
I do appreciate the sweet compliments from you about Kit’s new dress set. It’s nice to hear the kind words from everyone… it keeps me on my toes all the time… to never let down my guard and do anything I wouldn’t want to be shown…
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Charlotte Trayer

What a darling outfit, Jeanne! The valentines add such a nice touch!

As to using the lace for the hat, you could have underlined the lace with white, and treated it as one fabric, Then the interfacing wouldn’t have shown!!

    Charlotte
