A Mother’s Day “GIVEAWAY!”

So many of you seemed to like the slip underneath Molly’s dress, (see that post HERE) that I decided it might make a great GIVEAWAY for Mother’s Day. I wish I had thought of it yesterday, but I didn’t, so it may be one day late when the winner receives it. I have several ladies who have American Girl dolls and many of you have Dianna Effner’s 13″ Little Darlings…So…here’s what I’ll do… I’ll make up 2 slips, one in each size and the winner can choose which one they want for their doll…

I don’t have the Little Darlings slip made yet, but here’s the one for the American Girl dolls… I’ll make the winner’s just like this one…

The last time I had a giveaway, to be entered into the drawing, I asked you tell us something about yourself in the “comments” and it was so very fun… But this time I’d like you to “be a mom” and brag on your kids… (if you feel comfortable doing that…) Tell us what they are doing and how proud you are of them…

If you aren’t a mother, you can still enter for the giveaway… tell us in the comments, about someone you know who deserves recognition for what they are doing…someone who YOU are proud of, even though they aren’t your child… :o)

Okay, everyone on board? You can either leave your comments below this post, or you can email me at jeannewiedlocher@gmail.com
(I’m sorry, my contact me page is messed up and I haven’t figured it out yet… still part of that computer mess up.)

I’ll draw out a name from the comment entries at midnight Tuesday evening (Central Time)… I hope we have lots of mom’s chime in about their kids…

Happy Early Mother’s Day!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Good Morning!
Awesome! I get to brag on my wonderful kids. I have two good looking, awesome children. Richard my oldest(35) and Danielle my baby(30). Richard is a Ex Marine and a wounded vet. He is married and he and his wife Emily have made me a Nana 3 times. Elizabeth, Fredrick and Bethany my sweet babies. Richard lives in South Carolina and I’m in Western New York so unfortunately I don’t get to see him as much as I would like. Richard works for the government where is a Information System Security Officer. He is a hard worker, loves animals, is very artistic and enjoys farming. I love my boy
soooo much! My Daughter Danielle is my best friend. She is only 30 minutes away.. Danielle has a heart of gold and doesn’t ever say no. She married last Sept and has a fur baby named Hunter. She has a desk job with crazy hours and puts up with some very rude people. She’s also a licensed hair stylist and keeps my grays at bay. I love my babygirl soooo much! I couldn’t be prouder of both of my kids. I am excited to read all the comments.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.

    1. HI Ingrid,
Oh, this was so much fun to hear each of you brag on your kids… and rightfully so!
Your son and daughter sound like they are wonderful kids… well, grown kids now… I think our kids will “always” be kids to us moms…
      Thanks so much Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I have 3 boys – I was telling moms pastor, yesterday, they all surprised me with how successful they have become – it just took them making up their minds they wanted to ‘do something! they probably made better choices for themselves than I would have too! My oldest is 36 and is a metals engineer, working in the ‘car industry out of the Detroit area. He’s married to a “Materials Management’ type – so, their house is immaculate – everything in it’s place. His room wasn’t when he was in high school… I kept the door closed! LOL!!

My second son 33, is a Biochemist in a lab – doing testing for safety of commercial products – also in Detroit area. A single man – he keeps himself busy with a variety of ‘after work’ activities. He’s quite health conscious and loves to jog.

My youngest son is 30. He’s in a PhD program at Iowa State Univ studying plant genetics . When he talks about his research – it’s like speaking a foreign languqge. LOL!!

All 3 have wondered WHY I like dolls so much…. their friends always thought ”those dolls are watching” – I always thought that was a good idea for them to think – maybe they’d be less inclined to be naughty if I wasn’t there. 🙂

After raising 3 boys to ‘responsibility’ – I marvel at the fact that my mom did so with SIX kids! Wonderwoman Supreme! She still is – right now, she’s in the hospital – fighting a battle tot ry to save her toe – bad circulation has created complications with healing a sore. She was supposed to have surgery yesterday, but got ‘bumped’ by someone needing a pacemaker immediately. We’re hoping to get it done successfully today. HOPING. She’s exhausted (hospital living does not promote rest) – but she’s hanging in there. She LOVES my dolls…and has had ‘dolly visitors’ since being away from our home. We hope to get her back soon…!

    1. Hi Mary,
My hubby’s brother works for Nissan in Tennessee and he’s a Metallurgist…don’t know if that’s exactly what your one son is, but it sounds similar…
It sounds like you have 3 really smart sons and as far as your dolls go… you have them because you needed a little “girlie-ness” in your life with all those guys around… at least that’s what I think…
I hope things go well for your mom’s toe… that’s kind of scary… I bet your dolls cheer her right up…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. The Lord has given me 4 daughters. I could not be happier with them. They care about their dad and I and check on us. We have been blessed with 3 wonderful son in laws and between these 3 couples I have 7 grandsons and one granddaughter. Our family gatherings are full of noise and laughter. My mother has been gone 7 years now and a day does not go by that I do not miss her. She gave me much to bless her for. She taught me how to be a mother and a wife. My life is good!

    1. HI April,
Your daughters sound just wonderful to you and to their families… It’s nice when families get along and you have fun times at gatherings…
Thanks for sharing your children with us…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. My Brag is about my grand daughter. At 15 she made some very bad choices and got pregnant. So the day before her 16th birthday she became a mom. She had a very hard time with bed rest almost the whole time and was in and out of the hospital and finally had him 6 weeks early. She never lets him leave her side. She is still breastfeeding at 2 yrs old and doesn’t allow him to eat or drink anything unhealthy or sweet. So that is my brag.

    1. What a wonderful granddaughter you have! She certainly met the challenge head-on at a very young age, and I’m glad she has such a supportive grandmother. You are so right to be proud of her and to share her story. Please forward my best wishes to her and her little boy.

    2. HI Kath,
Your granddaughter sounds like she grew up fast, but turned into a wonderful mom at the same time… You have great reason to brag on her…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Since I won last time, I’m won’t feel eligible to win this one, but I’ll send a picture of a Memorial Day or Fourth of July dress I made that really needs a petticoat like that. Maybe I’d better find some of that net and make one myself.

Credit goes to my sons, not me. My younger son has a PhD in neuroscience. His older brother works for Raytheon, testing experimental and repairing deployed radars for the U.S. Fleet throughout all the missions and wars over the last 30 years. His sons were just admitted to UC Santa Cruz and UC Santa Barbara. But the best thing they’ve ever done was bless me with four wonderful grandchildren, Sean, James, Riya and Krish, with their Chinese-American and Indian-American mommies.

    1. HI Susette,
What fun would it be if you couldn’t enter every time I had a drawing just because you had won once before. Your name will go in the pot just the same as everyone else’s.
I’ll have to check my emails and see your Patriotic dress…

Wow… we certainly have some brilliant minded sons and daughters in this group today! You should be very proud of your sons… they have done well and have left a nice legacy and sweet Riya for you to sew for! I know you enjoy that…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. How fun reading about the blog moms and their children. It’s neat to get to know the ladies through your blog, Jeanne, even though most of us have never met.
My precious babies are Tonya, Elliott and Adrian. Tonya passed away several years ago from a disease called histiocytosis. It is similar to cancer in a way. She and I were very much alike in that we thought the same, (even our penmanship was similar) and our passion was animals. She was a beautiful girl, inside and out and we miss her dearly, but it will only be a little while and we will see her again.
Elliott is my oldest son and not married. He works for my husband’s business and this child (32-hah!) has a heart of gold. He’s very artistic.
Adrian, my youngest son, is 30, not married and also works for my husband’s business. We hope they will carry on with it as we retire. Adrian studied at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and passed the bar exam in both California and Ohio. He too is an animal lover.
I must also mention my niece, Christian, who also works for my husband’s business. She and Tonya were very close and Christian herself is very much like a daughter to me.
These children are my greatest blessings. Thank you for letting me brag!

    1. HI Paula,
Oh, I’m so sorry about your daughter Tonya. I can’t imagine the pain that must have caused you… She sounds as sweet as her momma! :o)
I think we would all agree that our children are our greatest blessings… dolls are fun, but children are blessings!
Thanks so much for sharing your kids with us, Paula.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Good morning, these stories are wonderful!!! Along with your blog I love watching Facebook and seeing all of my friends raise their families and get to see their beautiful grandchildren. Well I have two beautiful, did I say beautiful, well they are. My oldest is Sheri (41) she is the mother of my two wonderful granddaughters Olivia 6, Lola 4, who I will see this week-end on a mothers day trip to Denver. Sheri is endless in her work with helping children. She works for the Casey Foundation and travels the country training different groups on various children related subjects, she also is an Attorney and has an Indian Law Degree as well. My other beauty is Brenda (32) she also is a wonderful mother of my two handsome grandsons, Wyatt (8) and Lincoln (2). They love close so I am able to see them often and watch all those wonderful ball games, go Wyatt!!! Brenda is a full time teacher also dedicating her life to children. She works with Hard to Learn little ones and is doing a wonderful Job!! I am so proud of my girls and their dedication to helping others. I have been missing my mother and my grandmothers quite a lot lately, but I have been sharing my dolls (which are new to me) and the wonderful clothes I have been “Trying” to get from you!!! Have a wonderful day ladies!!!

    1. HI Robin,
Thanks for telling us about your sweet children… they sound as marvelous as the rest of the kids mentioned in the comments… We certainly have a varied lot of talents among them all, don’t we?
Your girls sound like they contribute a LOT to the people around them…especially the children their lives touch each day! What a great mom you’ve been to them… raising them the way you have…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I’m so lucky to have had 4 awesome kids, they each chose wonderful life partners and have blessed us with 10 grandchildren ! Also so lucky to have all of them within a half hour so family gatherings are pretty often. My daughters are awesome cooks and talented homemakers. One teaches school and one is in business. The boys are so successful it is almost unreal and all of them are so supportive whenever we need muscles to do a project. Needles to say the grandkids are so much fun…watching games, plays, band, concerts keep us busy. We re blessed to have celebrated our 50 th anniversary last week too!

    1. Hi Kathie,
I remember you saying once before how one of your daughters set the most beautiful table for Thanksgiving or Christmas??? I remember thinking how nice that was to have her go to the trouble to make it pretty… my kind of gal…
CONGRATULATIONS on 50 years together! That’s a BIG deal these days! Happy Belated Anniversary!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Jeanne, it is so refreshing to read all the wonderful comments about everyone’s children and grandchildren! We probably don’t do it enough!

I have two, Jennifer and Brian. Jennifer, who lives nearby, has always been very outgoing, friendly, smart and ambitious. She has loads of friends, and is the mother of three, Maggie, Annie and Willie. She has two degrees in Psychology and had a wonderful career going, but when Willie was born 4 years ago, they found that he is on the autism spectrum, and has speech problems, so she has put her career on hold, and is concentrating on getting him the best help she can. I am so proud of her for doing that!

My son, Brian lives in Denver, and has 3 boys, Jonathan, Gavin and Myles. He is also a graduate of Mizzou, and has a wonderful career doing something or other with computers! I have no idea what he does, as you can figure :), but he does it well!! He is a wonderful husband and father too, does a lot to help raise their boys and is very active with them at school.

The fact that my children are well liked, well educated, and are making a difference in the world is a wonderful thing, and they make me proud because they are so good to their parents too!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, you are so right…it’s so nice to read good things about everyone’s children… and we should praise them more often than we do!
What a sacrificing mom your Jennifer sounds like…I’m proud of her too… My hubby has a niece who was in real-estate when Will was born and he too, has autism.. She put her career on hold too, but works somewhat from home… Will definitely comes first in their lives…
I can tell you are proud and you have every reason to be… congrats on 2 great kids!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Well, I only have one child, my daughter Julia. She is a real estate agent, and does very well as she is a total people-person. She is very active in the community and volunteers for several charities and service organizations. She and Roger have two children, Kathryn and Roger III. I’m also lucky enough to have two step-daughters that I enjoy very much. Melanie owns her own business (dog grooming!) and Nichole is a nurse. Melanie has a three year old daughter named Serenity.

  11. HI Carolyn,
I’m so glad everyone freely shared about their children… or “child” in your case… It sounds like you are truly blessed with Julia and your grandchildren by her…
Maybe you can get Kathryn and Serenity interested in dolls if they aren’t too old…
    Thanks for sharing…
    Blessings, Jeanne

  12. I’m not a mother, but I am an aunt to 7 nephews, and a great aunt to 2 great-nephews and 3 great nieces. 6 of my nephews attended college on the campus where I worked in the library full-time, though some graduated from other schools. I also taught over 2000 students to use the library and improve their writing through the English classes I taught in my spare time.

One nephew showed up barely awake one day, and I reminded him to stay awake in class. He said he’d better, since it was swimming. At the desk where I worked I told one of the librarians that the young man I was speaking to was my nephew. She said, “I thought so. I’ve never seen you try to strangle one of your students.”

    1. HI Marilyn,
I thought maybe you got snowed under and wasn’t able to make it to the party… but I got your comment just in time… before I drew out the names…
You have quite the group of young people to influence with ALL you know…and I’m sure they are all grateful for what you have spoken into their lives…
Thanks for all you do for everyone… even your nieces and nephews!
      Blessings, Jeanne
