A little “sister time” was what I needed…

We started this morning and didn’t stop until just a little while ago. I left my mom’s apartment at 10:40 p.m. and decided I better get some sleep because tomorrow is “another day!” :o) We have “more” to do! :o)

We hit a few yard sales this morning and snagged a few treasures… then we went to lunch at our favorite place… Panera’s. We were close to the Goodwill so we naturally stopped in there and found a few more treasures. TJ Maxx was on the way to our next stop so we looked there. Nothing for us, but we got some ideas about a few things for my kitchen.

Amy and Hannah wanted to go see a movie so after we dropped them off, we headed to the old Thrift shop here in town and struck out, but it was still fun looking. You don’t have to buy something to have a good time…

While they were at the movie, we decided to go to my house and Cindy unpacked a ton of stuff that she brought for me to use if I wanted it… “If I wanted it???” Of course I need more junk… I think we already established that when I was trying to decorate my fireplace mantle. It was fun watching Cindy do her magic on one countertop area in my kitchen. I don’t have the backsplash up on my wall yet on this side, but I think you can use your imagination and see how pretty this will be… it’s all functional and pretty too! If I decide it’s too much, just take something away… :o)

I had my plates and bowls and pyrex dishes in my china cabinet and Cindy said it should be for my pretty things not my utilitarian dishes… so we started to move my plates and bowls and saucers, etc. to my cabinets and she gathered up some fun and pretty things for my china cabinet… wanna see?

I still have work to do getting my things figured out in my cabinets, but I think she’s right… dishes in the cabinets, decorative pieces in the china cabinet…

I have more to show you but for now, I know 2 things…

My Magnolia tree is in full bloom…

…and Cindy is here in all her glory!

All Is Well!

See you when I can,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, my, Jeanne, what a fun day you and Cindy had yesterday! And it was GOOD for you–I can just hear it in how you “sound”!! I’m so glad. It’s times like these that help us get thru the tough stuff in life!

I enjoyed all the pictures, but especially the one of your kitchen. Even without the backsplash, it looke lovely!!

Take care, and remember, prayers continue!

  2. Glad you are having so much fun. Yes, lots of times editing works very well even if many items are worthy of display. I hope this comes through as I’ve had the same problem Cindy had with commenting so this will be short. Have more fun today.

  3. Something is still not right on your post deliveries. For example, this morning I received two from you. One titled Jeanne 6-16-18 (2:01 AM), which was actually your post from yesterday and another titled I Dream of Jeanne Marie, A little sister time, Fri, June 15, dated 6-16-18. So, now I’m receiving one from yesterday as well as one from today. Why, I have no idea?
Your photos are fabulous. Love the variety of greens and especially the one with your home peeking out in the distance. You should frame that one. Maybe have it done on canvas at Costco. Does not cost much and you can do it online.
And the counter display is perfect. A few functional things, a few pretty, and all corralled in that great basket thingy. I saw something similar to that at Joann’s that I really liked, but had no idea how useful and decorative it might be. I agree with Cindy that the pretty pieces belong in the cabinet to be viewed. Although that vintage Pyrex/Corelle may become your next display items in the future. 🙂 So fun seeing all of your “stuff.”
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend with your sister and family.

  4. Good afternoon, Jeanne! I am a bit on the late side today, at least for me! I wanted to get outside early and do some yard work before the temps got too hot, but it sure was sticky!
I loved the way Cindy fixed up your kitchen display next to the stove! It looks great and it also looks like it is made with things you actually use, not just any old thing sitting around! That basket is wonderful, is that something she brought with her? I see you still need to get. outlet covers. I got some pretty copper ones at Lowe’s several years ago and they really do dress up my backsplash.

Yes, only “pretty” things go in a glass hutch! You certainly have more than enough cabinets to store regular things in. I’m not that lucky!

Love, the beautiful magnolia tree! We have one at church also blooming. I have a big picture of a magnolia bloom in mybedroom above the bed, and it is one of my favorite blooms. Those huge, creamy white blooms are just the thing to make the room look so peaceful and relaxing.

Have fun with Cindy, Amy and Hannah! I believe I left out Amy the other day. Sorry!

  5. Dear Jeanne, what a fun outing. Thanks for taking us along. And thanks for sharing Cindy with us.

  6. We are at Cool Spoons!!! Yum! It is SO hot here…the heat index is over 100… we thought frozen yogurt was definitely in order!!!

  7. That’s wonderful that you are having fun with your family, you definitely need that.
The decorated corner of your kitchen looks lovely. The Magnolia tree is beautiful. We had one for a number of years and then it was severely damaged by a late frost. I need to have another.
    Enjoy your weekend!!

  8. I too sometimes find the blog and sometimes not, but whenever I get it, it’s good. I really enjoyed Cindy’s decorating. My eye was caught by that pretty honey jar. When I went to yesterday’s blog, I found that it was part of one of your sets of gifts. I also really like the traveling tea/coffee cups with their encouraging messages and safe drinking tops. They are perfect for this weather, filled with iced tea. Without the heat, would you have the magnolia trees?
Speaking of weather, we got one of those sudden drenching rains, so heavy that it was hard to see through. It looks like we may have more of them coming up. What a difference that will make. Rain is so much more thorough than a sprinkler system. And the cloud cover cools everything down.
Putting pretty things in the curio cabinet is also a reminder to use them sometimes. I’ll bet your deviled egg plate looks pretty with the yellow and white eggs. Your shopping trip sounds wonderful, and you still have a whole day with Cindy, Hannah, and Amy. Have a great one.

  9. Lovely that you have family visiting and decorating with you. She does have “the eye”. I’m southern born and really like magnolias (and other southern plants & trees). I’ve managed to get a honeysuckle to thrive here, but doubt magnolias would like our winters. I do have some flowers blooming at my house too though; however, they’re inside. We count the flower buds in anticipation and really like it when they are staggered so we get the blooming period spread out longer. They smell lovely and the flower buds come out of the side of the leaves. The plant is taking over our sun room because it is vine-y and a bit rambunctious. http://countrysidegardens.biz/2016/06/night-blooming-cereus/ http://www.robertalondonphotography.com/blog/2013/8/night-blooming-cereus
