A Little Music for you….

I have a VERY talented little younger sister and she is my favorite piano player in the whole world! Actually piano player doesn’t do Deb justice…she’s a pianist… and the most anointed one I know! Seriously! She has been playing ever since she was 4 years old. We either bought or were given this big monstrosity of an upright piano and put it down in our basement and she just took off. It wasn’t very long until she could she just could hear music in her head and her heart and it came out her fingers. She knew just where those fingers went and whenever we had anyone over, she was always a big hit… playing just about anything they could think of or sing a few bars of. I don’t know how old she was when we all knew she had a “gift” but we certainly knew it pretty quickly and she still makes me cry every time I hear her play.

I looked through all my pictures and decided this was my favorite of Deb. It’s on her wedding day… but she never looked more beautiful and still is today. (Deb, I liked the graduation one of you in the locker…but decided against it!) :o)

The other day she told me she was “trying out” for a volunteer job of playing the piano at a Cancer place in Springfield, MO. I think she finds out tomorrow if she got the job! (They’ll be silly not to take her in my opinion!) She’s played “dinner” music at a few places and everyone really enjoys her. I personally could listen to her all day long… in fact…. we are all pulling for her to make a CD! She just bought a Stage Piano so that might be a possiblity very soon! I hope so!

She sent this song to me the other day and I managed to get a link to work here on my blog and there is nothing I’d love more than to share this with you. It’s called Wayfaring Stranger and you just have to click the link… and then click on the blue arrow to get started. Turn up your volume too! I hope you enjoy it!

Just consider this a little “dinner music” for our “post” Thanksgiving dinner leftovers! :o)

Wayfaring Stranger

If you want to listen to it again…just hit the stop and start arrow again… I bet I’ve listened to it 8 or 10 times already… Thanks Deb, Love you!

Okay… now you may head to the stores for Black Friday deals… Have a wonderful day shopping!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Well, Jeanne, who ISN’T talented in your family? Your parents did a fantastic job of nurturing each of their children in whatever they did best! Such a cute picture of Deb! She couldn’t have been more than 15 in that picture!

I have an aunt, –well, she is gone now, but she played the piano too, and made quite a name for herself, playing all over Denver, in various places. When she was young and living here in St. Louis, somehow, Lawrence Welk heard her while he was here, and asked her to join his musical family! My grandparents thought she was too young, I believe 17 or so, and vetoed the idea of her moving to California. She lived a long life, and died just a couple of years ago, but she will forever be “Betty of the Piano” to many people in the Denver area. Playing the piano is such a fun thing, and makes everything happy no matter what you are going through. My computer could not play the song, but I’m sure it was beautiful.
    Shopping today? Not me!!!.

    1. Hi Linda,
It’s true…my family is truly blessed in the talents they were given. I’m so sorry you couldn’t hear Deb playing the piano…she really is very gifted.
Maybe someday my sister will be “Deb of the Piano!”
I’m not shopping either…cleaning and hopefully sewing!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Deb’s playing is just beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I appreciate anyone who is musically inclined. My two sisters were and the youngest from an early age like Deb. Thank you for sharing Deb’s song. What a lovely picture of Deb too.
Well, I’m off and like they say, “let your fingers do the walking,” as, after putting ornaments on the Christmas tree, I’m leaping online to shop. Cup of tea and some serious plotting!!
    Everyone enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend.

    1. Hi Paula,
      Well….maybe I will do a little online shopping…just so I’m not feeling left out…
I’m glad you enjoyed Debs playing.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Love trying out to be a volunteer! Great music to wake me up this morning.
Everyone loved the corn casserole. Thanks!
As we were ready to drive away from the get together last night, our grandson, 6, pointed to the dark sky and said excitedly, “There’s Rudolph!” (It was the red blinking light from an airplane.) As we left, all of the little ones were running around on the front lawn in their pajamas, pointing at the sky and excitedly yelling it’s Rudolph, it’s Rudolph! On to the next holiday.

    1. Hi Joy,
Wasn’t Deb’s song fun? So glad you liked the corn casserole too.
OH I loved that story of all the kids thinking they saw Rudolph. It was SO cute.
      Have a great day Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. that was *beautiful*! I hope she does produce a CD – I love piano music! I really miss having my own piano – no room for it here, so, we gave it to the DIL… good luck with the ebay dresses! My AG’s have been ‘speaking’ to me about some holiday dresses… :-/

    1. Hi Mary,
We have been hoping for years that she’d make a CD. I really hope she does now.
There’s still time to get your girls some dresses made…just getting started is the hardest part.
      Have a wonderful day.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Most of my shopping is done. It’s time for wrapping. How nice to be retired and be able to go to the Post Office when it’s not busy.
Your Deb is a beauty — that runs in the family, along with talent.
Your dresses are beginning to attract bids, always nice, though you never can tell what will happen, as you always tell me.

    1. Thanks Marilyn,
How nice it must be for all your shopping to be done. I picked up one of those pretty decorated Christmas boxes at Joann fabrics today. I’m going to put all kinds of ice cream toppings in it along with some spoons and bowls and give it to my brother and his family. I’m going to call it “Cool Spoons in a Box.” I think his boys will love it. It’s the only present I know that I’m sure of…
I’m glad you enjoyed Debs piano playing. I sure did.
Yes…the dresses are doing well…lots of watchers and almost identical hits on Lian’s and Isabelle’s.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
