A little Catch Up, a little Show and Tell, and a little Christmas Cheer!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the wonderful emails and sweet comments you sent my way for Rebecca’s graduation. (HERE) I was blown away by your kindness and gracious compliments for her. I can’t wait to give her the jar filled with them all. I’ll show it to you when I get it all finished. She takes her last final Friday morning and then she’ll be all finished! I could just bust with pride at her accomplishment! Thank you again… I was hoping for a few and got way more than that!

I have been a little behind at sharing some pictures that have been sent to me. I know some of them are for Thanksgiving but I always hate NOT sharing what ladies send my way… so I’m going to share them anyway.

Linda sent me some pictures of her girls dressed up for Thanksgiving and her girls most definitely needed to be seen… so here’s Ruthie, Susan and Molly dressed up for a Thanksgiving play.

This is Ivy and Betsy McCall ready for Thanksgiving.

Here is Betsy in a sweet Elf outfit… (I hope it’s not sideways. It came in straight but when I tried to post it, it was sideways so I tried to fix it…and hope I did.)

This is Betsy and Ivy in jumpers. I think they must be best buds!

img_4418

My Aunt Bonnie sent me a picture of a Christmas dress she made for her Molly doll… sweet huh?

img_0144

…and a picture of a candle holder she made for a lady. I didn’t ask her if it was her own design… but I think it will look very pretty as a centerpiece on a table.

img_0152

A while back when I showed how I lined the black velvet dress with the white lining, Susette and (I think) Joy were talking about linings. I got a picture from Susette and how she lined something… I wanted to share it with you.

I’ve lined that way before too, where everything is enclosed… nice job, Susette!

Kathie participated in a Christmas Swap on the Little Darlings doll forum. You sign up and are given someone’s name and you make something for their doll. You, in return, get something from someone who had your name. She made a sweet little Christmas dress for her swap partner and I wanted to show you. It’s sometimes hard to make something so cute and then have to send it away…

img_9195

…but then look what she got in the mail from HER swap partner… a pretty Aubergine (eggplant colored) dress and a long velvet coat with mink accessories…

This is a shot of her girls enjoying themselves this Christmas…

I searched through my “fairly recent” emails and just wanted to say, if I missed a picture or two from anyone, it was purely unintentional. Sometimes I get pictures and I tell myself not to wait too long before posting them or I’ll forget… I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone’s pictures.

My brother’s twin boys, who are in 1st grade, were in a Christmas Concert a little over a week ago and you have to see this… I have watched it I don’t know how many times and it still makes me laugh every time I see it. Edison is on the front row, on the right hand side in a cream sweater, and he follows the motions just as I’m sure the teacher instructed… However Taylor, who is normally about as reserved as any child you’d ever meet, gave us all a surprise. He is in the second row, in a red shirt and black pants and decided to add a few moves of his own. I probably didn’t even need to tell you where he is…you’ll find out soon enough. My brother said he didn’t get those dance moves from him!!! I wish it was just a little clearer but my brother said it’s a wonder he got it as good as he did, he was laughing so hard. What you only see at the very end of the video, is a partial hook on the right side of the screen. This particular version on YouTube didn’t show what happened next with that long hook. The director came over and grabbed Taylor by the neck and pulled him down to the front and talked to him. She did a few of his moves as the audience roared and said she was retiring next year but was really going to miss seeing what might happen in future concerts.

My brother sent me a video of the second song they did and Taylor actually fell off the risers on that song.. I think he’s had some “jive” bottled up in him too long! :o)

Some Christmas Cheer

So I’ll end with that… and hopefully that will put a smile on your face all day!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh my gosh, Jeanne, I’m dying of laughing at Taylor!! I can’t imagine having him in my classroom, but you say he is reserved???? He sure let lose! That was a darling video and that’s what you get when you have little ones put on a production—-you just never know!

Oh gee, I don’t remember sending you all those photos, but don’t feel you have to post them. We are all ready for Christmas now, so I guess a new batch of pictures are in store!

Kathie, your Little Darlings are SO cute! I love the way they are posed, they look so lifelike and real! Susette, wow, that dress could be worn inside out!! And Molly’s dress is just adorable! Be sure your aunt knows that! After first looking at the centerpiece-card holder without reading what it was, I thought maybe something to hang from the ceiling, and discovered it is upside down! Very cute, and it could be in different colors too, like red, green and gold for Christmas!

Another week gone by, and I am babysitting today again. I’m sure Rebecca is quite relieved that the end is really near and she will be a “graduate”——– finally! What a sense of accomplishment she must have!

    1. HI Linda,
I’m so glad you enjoyed Taylor and his dance moves. We were so shocked…and I think that’s why we have watched it so many time… we just can’t believe it’s him doing that.

Oh, I never feel like I “have” to post everyone’s pictures, but I want to … whether you sew or make little vignettes with your dolls, I think everyone wants to see what everyone else is doing!

Rebecca is very relieved that her studying …at least for now… is over…
We are going to celebrate with her tomorrow…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Just a quick note, then bed….

I looked at those pictures, and suddenly realized, hey, *I* have that dress!! The dress that Kathie made for the swap….came to me!! I’ll email you a photo or two!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m sure it caught you off guard to see “your” dress on someone else’s doll! I hope you will send me some pictures of “your” girls modeling it!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I enjoyed seeing everyone’s pictures! All the dolls look so cute dressed up for the holidays. I haven’t knitted in years, but after seeing that pretty lavender dress on Betsy, I think I may have to hunt for sone needles. It’s so pretty.
I watched the video of your nephews, and I really was laughing out loud. You said Taylor was normally reserved, but you’d never know it from watching him perform!

    1. HI Carolyn,
Oh, I’m so glad the little lavender dress got you in the mood to knit… Please send me a picture when you get your dress finished… Makes me wish I knew how to knit! :o(

We are all still in shock over Taylor’s new moves! When I first saw it, I couldn’t take my eyes off him and thought okay, the next time I watch it, I’ll watch the other kids, but I just keep watching him… poor Edison, his twin brother, he got overlooked on this one!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. A big thank you for sharing the photos! So fun seeing Linda’s kids, your aunts lovely quilted piece, Susette’s finish work, Kathie’s LD sweet dress and her girls, and hearing that Charlotte was the recipient.
After seeing my 3 year old grands preschool song fest video yesterday, there is hope for first grade. One of the little ones (not ours) cried through the entire presentation. Absolutely loved the Youtube. Can’t get the song out of my head now, but what a great one it was. Little Taylor was just too funny. But seeing the whole group perform was quite amazing for a first grade group. They were just great. Fun start to the day.

    1. HI Joy,
It is always my pleasure to share what others are doing and making. I enjoy the pictures as much as anybody!
I thought the class sounded wonderful when they sang their song… I just enjoyed the whole thing…and wish I could have been there… I’m glad you enjoyed it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Great photos of really pretty dolls and their lovely outfits…thanks for sharing everyone, and thank you Jeanne, for passing them along to us.

Your nephew is quite the “full of unique” moves…loved his rendition for the song that they were performing. Thank you for sharing that with us too. It was really fun.

And, congrats to Rebecca on this her LAST day of class after such diligence all these years. It will be fun to read of your presentation to her of comments. She must be a true delight to you and your family.

    Blessings.

    1. HI Becky,
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures of the dolls in all their finery! I loved looking at them too.

So glad you enjoyed Taylor too… I’m wondering if next year Edison might have some moves of his own with all the attention Taylor might be getting…

We are very proud of Rebecca for finishing the course… she must be so proud of herself…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Christine,
I’m glad you had “one” too… it gives you something to smile about doesn’t it?
      I like that…”extra stuff” comment! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. What a wonderful collection you have, Linda. One is cuter than the next. Thanks for sharing them. Aunt Bonnie’s dress is as beautifully made as yours are, Jeanne. And the swappers sure took care of each other royally. Kathie and Charlotte were very lucky to get each other’s names. Sorry, but I love fur and am encouraged to make an outfit with fur trim since I’ve seen this. All the beautiful collections.

The children are just darling. Taylor really gets it. I, too, laughed out loud. Thanks for brightening the morning and the holidays. I’ll be sure to show my family the video.

    1. HI Susette,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the pictures of the other ladies dresses. I always love to see what everyone else is doing.
Seeing that fur coat makes me wish I had made a coat this year… maybe for the new year I’ll start out with a coat or two!
I’m glad Taylor put a smile on your face today… I bet I’ve watched it 4 or 5 times again today! I can’t seem to get enough of it.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. It’s the last day of finals. It seems like an ending and a new beginning. Somehow I feel that Rebecca will be in grad school before she’s done, but for now at least, a brief vacation is in order. The job hunting book that has become a classic is called What Color Is Your Parachute? I recommended it to a friend who found it very useful and liked the author’s tone a great deal. She says it’s useful, encouraging, and not condescending. Most libraries have it — it’s updated every year. The author certainly created a gold-mine for himself and has a lot of motivation to stay on top of his information.

Doesn’t Linda have not only a great costume collection but also a splendid collection of props? Altogether, this is a wonderful set of holiday photos. Thank you for sharing, but most of all, thank you for sharing Taylor.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I’ve heard of that book before, but I didn’t know what it was about. I’ll share that information with Rebecca. Some man talked to George this evening about an internship for Rebecca at the VA hospital only 20 miles from here… There are no promises but he works there and he knows more than we do…so Rebecca is a bit excited about it. He said he’d know more on Monday when he gets back to his office. It’s a start…

Oh, Marilyn, it was my total pleasure to share Taylor with everyone. That’s better than some $100,000 videos I’ve seen on America’s Funniest Videos…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I love, loved and am loving that Video, I love kids at that age, they are adorable… I will have to save this one…. thanks for sharing…

    1. I’ll have to let my brother know how much everyone enjoyed Taylor’s antics. If anything I would have guessed he’d of been as stiff as a board… boy, were we surprised!
      Thank you Robin,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Linda, what an adorable doll set up. Love your Molly and Linda dressed up as Indians and the pilgrim costume you have on #21 who I believe is your Susan is too cute. I think you are the one who made Ruthie and #21 into Molly’s best friends. Is that the Keepers pattern? I want to make that sometime so Felicity can be a pilgrim. Your Betsy and Ivy look toasty warm in their jumpers. How fun that you can set up a little scene for each holiday or occasion. I know you mentioned your girls had Christmas shopping and baking etc. before Christmas. It didn’t happen this year, but next year I envision having time to set up a Christmas baking scene prior to dressing dolls for Christmas
Jeanne, your aunt doll dress is very sweet. So you have other family who collected AG dolls?
Very good job on the dress, Susette. Kathie, your Little Darlings are so cute and what a wonderful present you received. That coat, hat and muff are just precious
What a funny video. I think you may have a born performer on your hands. I remember my daughter’s Christmas play when she was not quite five. Somehow she got one step behind in the motions from the others and didn’t know how to get back in sync. Every time I watch that video I laugh until I have tears rolling down my face. The unbelievable thing is she had just played her first Christmas piece on her violin, so it’s not like she didn’t have coordination. I think the three to seven year old set do the most hysterical antics during performances.

    1. HI Laura,
I’m so glad everyone enjoyed seeing each other’s pictures of dolly things they have made or at least set up. It’s fun to scrutinize the pictures and see what all is in the picture. At least I do that!
Yes, I would have to agree 3-7 year old’s do the craziest things and think nothing of it. Years from now, won’t that be a hoot for Taylor to see… he’ll croak then…
      Thanks so much Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
