A lazy photo shoot with my Little Darling, Isabelle…

It’s after midnight (Friday night) and I finally figured out what I’m doing next, but I had to “wake” Isabelle up from the dolly shelf. She said she was “too tired” to stand up but I could take pictures of her laying down with the new fabric draped across her…works for me! SO…that’s just what we did… May I present Isabelle in a horizontal modeling mode… at least her eyes are open! :o)

I found a sweet aqua and white striped fabric with a tiny reddish pink floral pattern and it will look darling on this Little Darling of mine! I’m not 100% sure how I will make it, but I have an idea…I did get the bodice cut out and found a few pieces that might become part of the dress.

I had a busy day, so this will have to hold you over…
Thanks for all the sweet comments you showered on my sister Cindy for her Steampunk birdhouses in yesterdays’ post… (HERE)

See you tomorrow,

  1. Isabelle looks so comfy and dreamy in your pictures, Jeanne! I can picture her laying in a hammock reading a book, sipping on strawberry lemonade!

Just from the way you have things laid out, I can imagine how you will sew this dress! I can’t wait to see if I know what I’m thinking! Now that I know that my Betsy McCall is the same size as Isabelle, I can appreciate your sewing on these teensy doll dresses! I’ve been looking at LD dolls on Ebay—good grief! They are really expensive, and even the clothes for them made by seamstresses! Did you see the adorable outfit that Magalie made that went for over $1,000.00 a couple of days ago? It was a beautiful outfit, like hers always are, but I often wonder who in the world can even think that it is OK to spend that much on doll clothes? Maybe the doll also came with it, but still……….

Yes, the weather yesterday was wonderful! We are supposed to get a bunch of rain the rest of the weekend, ugh!

    1. HI Linda,
I thought Isabelle looked kind of dreamy too! Oh dear… now how would I go about making a hammock??? Linda, shame on you for thinking of such a cute idea!!! :o)

You’ll have to see if I make it the way you were thinking…
Aren’t the Little Darlings by Dianna Effner beautiful little dolls? I love to look at all the different faces and how they are painted. It’s hard to believe there are only 3 different sculpts but how differently they look when each artist paints them “their” way.

Yes, I’ve seen 3 lately by Magalie… She’s just learned how to paint the dolls so, yes, the dolls were included in those. I loved her first one… the little blue eyed cutie in the coral colored dress with the long blonde curls. It went for $2900 I think. Then she did a little green eyed red head, and then that little blonde one, the smiling #3 sculpt, in a pretty blue and white sort or nautical romper. Magalie is very talented and I bet she’s having fun with her new talent she’s discovered.

We’re looking for rain here too, but so far, on this Saturday morning, it’s held off so far.
I hope you don’t get too soaked… have a great weekend Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. What a refreshing sight this morning. Please thank little Isabelle for her cooperation. The fabric is dreamy, and perfect for a summer frock. Can’t wait to see this one.
I like Linda’s hammock/book/strawberry lemonade. Maybe a picnic on a blanket to go along.

    1. Good morning to you Joy,
Isabelle was a good girl letting me take pictures of her so late last night… She did look tired this morning though. :o)
I do like this fabric next to her skin… we’ll see what happens when it starts looking like a dress…
I’ll have to store everyone’s story line ideas in a folder to use them sometime…
      Thank you Joy,
      Have a wonderful weekend…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Sooooo pretty..I love the fabric and trim choices:) Your Isabelle is the reason I began collecting Effner Little Darlings! She was modeling one of your outfits and I thought she had the most beautiful face I ever saw. I wrote you and asked ‘who is she?!”…and the rest, 15 dolls later, is history!
    Thanks, Jeannie!!

    1. OH My Shara,
I’m so glad it was Isabelle who started your collection of Little Darlings. They truly are addicting… aren’t they? If anyone would know, I should think you would. Do you have a favorite of your dolls? I thought it would be fun to even ask…
Thanks for your sweet comments… I’ve got one more on the way from Lana and it’s been a long 26 month (so far… :o( wait!) I can’t wait to get that invoice soon… hopefully soon!
      Thanks Shara,
      Have a wonderful weekend…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I didn’t get to your post until very late yesterday as I was out all day. Cindy’s birdhouses are very clever, my daughter likes steampunk style.
Isabelle is going to look very sweet in that fabric. It looks cool and refreshing. We’re getting a reprieve from the heat as it is only 70 degrees right now, although we are expecting rain.
Linda or Jeanne, how you you see Magalie’s creations? I would love to see that $1000 outfit although, I, too, wonder who could or would spend that on a doll. I love my Felicity and Samantha PC collections, but I’m really to the point that AG is too expensive
for the quality to me so I find things elsewhere or make my own… more fun in a way.

  5. HI Laura,
I’m glad you were able to see my sister’s birdhouses. I thought you’d like them, being the nature lover you are…
I hope I can make some headway on Isabelle’s dress today… I like the fabric very much too..it’s definitely a cool and refreshing fabric!
Laura, if you’ll go to Ebay and in the search engine just type Little Darling Magalie her things will come up. She’s painted 3 dolls recently and I’m looking forward to seeing what she’ll do next. She does really nice work!
I’m like you Laura, it’s more fun to come up with something yourself than to buy things sometimes… I’m creative like that! :o) I bet you are too!
Blessings and have a great weekend…
    ~ Jeanne

  6. Laura,
I see that Jeanne already told you how to find Magalie’s outfits. You do belong to AG Playthings, don’t you? Magalie also belongs there, and sometimes showcases her gorgeous outfits.
Jeanne, how does Magalie or anyone just buy a doll with no face paint? How would you go about doing that?

  7. Such a sweet and summery-looking glimpse at your next creation, Jeanne! Although Isabelle was tired for her first photo shoot last night, I’m sure she must be very excited today over the promise of such a darling outfit! The blue and white looks so refreshingly light and cool, perhaps there will be some ice cream planned in the mix! I can just picture Isabelle at an old fashioned ice cream parlor with the small round bistro tables and heart-shaped wrought iron chairs, licking an ice cream cone or dipping into a strawberry sundae to compliment the flowers on her dress. (Muffy and Hoppy VanderBear had such a set some years back). However Isabelle’s summer story unfolds, I’m sure this new ensemble will be a delicious confection! Looking forward further developments! Have a delightful Saturday, Jeanne!

    1. HI Anne,
My hubby was helping someone put in an air conditioner today so I had lots of free time to sew. I made quite a bit of progress on Isabelle’s dress and I’m sure you’ll see it tomorrow…
I wish I had an ice cream parlor for her to get ice cream from… wouldn’t that be nice?
I used to have some little ice cream cone erasers… hmmm….
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. This is going to be so pretty, Jeanne…another “I can’t wait to see it” type of outfit. The colors are just so refreshing.

I trust you have a restful extended weekend.

    Take care.

    1. Thanks so much Becky,
I’ve gotten a lot done on the dress today and it’s very pretty against Isabelle’s dark hair… It would probably look good on Janie too, with her blue eyes… Oh well, it was Isabelle’s turn.
I hope your weekend is nice as well…
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne
