A few of my favorite pictures…

My sister came home this weekend and we had to take care of some things at my moms…so I never made it into my sewing room. I haven’t been in there since Thursday. Needless to say, I didn’t get anything started, so you’ll have to just enjoy today’s post and dream about who might be up next! :o)

In this post I wanted to showcase some of my favorite photos. It might not be the dress that I’m highlighting, so much as it is the way the doll is posing, or perhaps the way the fabric looks next to her skin, or how she’s cuddling her animal, or maybe it’s just the way she was looking at the camera when I snapped it. Sometimes it was just a fun picture that ended up being in a post. I think I even have a few pictures of just a favorite hair style…

As I scrolled through my pictures it was pretty easy to go…no, no, no, no, yes, no, no, yes… I tried to be selective, and I know there are lots, but you have to understand I have over 8500 pictures to pick from, so the ones I picked tugged at my heart. I hope they do yours too!

This will just be a slideshow for you to enjoy…

Okay, I think that’s enough for today. I’ll probably show you the rest tomorrow. If I show you a few more pictures tomorrow, that will give me some time to get something started… eep!

Well, you know I have to ask, did anything tug at your heart?

I hope you enjoyed my favorite photo shots today…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Well, Jeanne, Isabelle is just the most darling doll, so I love any picture she is in! But what caught my attention—and heart–is that second picture! I don’t recall her much at all, but she looks so lifelike and real in that pose! She almost looks like a real little girl! Do you still have her?

It was kind of a gloomy weekend here, with just bits of sun, but mostly overcast. Pumpkins and mums and scarecrows are appearing, as I am sure they are in Carbondale. I can’t believe it is already October!

    1. Hi Linda,
I couldn’t agree with you more about Isabelle. ..she is my “little darling” in every way possible. She is very fun to sew for.
That second little cutie is Katie Effanbee and she is no longer with me. That was my favorite picture of all the ones I took of her. She did look lifelike in that photo session. It must have been the coloring was just right for her.
We sort of had a gloomy weekend too. But today the sun is shining so maybe it will make up for Saturday and Sunday.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Every picture has a special appeal, making it so difficult to pick a favorite. Linda is right about the second photo looking so lifelike. I like the headpiece on the beautiful Chinese doll. Isabelle facing the mirror is a favorite. The choice of fabrics, the use of buttons and trim and the embroidery on the little jackets make your dresses so special. Love the full slip on Lian. The first picture is just darling. Addy little hairpiece is perfect with the pearls.

The blonde doll with the braids looks so different depending on the pose and whether in braids or with her hair down, varying between looking somewhat haughty in the Christmas dress to innocent as a schoolgirl in the jumper. On looking closer, are the Chinese doll and the blonde doll made from the same mold except painted very differently? You’ve made wonderful choices for this post. Thanks as always for sharing your talents with us.

We have an earthquake alert effective through Tuesday here in Southern California due to some tremors south of where I live. No weather, though, just climate and it’s been beautiful.

    1. Thank you Susette,
I’m glad everyone is enjoying looking at “repeat” pictures…
The blonde doll is 14″ Wren Pistachio, by Helen Kish. She was my first articulated doll and I was in heaven posing her all the time. Song, was made my Helen Kish too, but I think they have a different face sculpt. They were in a series called the Chrysalis dolls.

Oh, yikes, an earthquake alert? How scary that must be… just waiting around to be shaken! I hope nothing happens and you have quiet days ahead! :o)

  3. My goodness, you present us with such beauty each and every day. The pictures are totally breath taking.

It may seem strange, but the photo of Addy’s hair bow strikes me the most. There was something about the textures and color combinations of that particular outfit that just “got to me” that I must choose that photo. I must say though, that they’re all striking in one way or another.

    Blessings.

    1. HI Becky,
How neat that you picked something like Addy’s hair bow for your favorite. I guess we BOTH liked it!!! :o)
      Thank you Becky!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Wren looking lovingly at her kitten was my fave…I find myself doing thr same thing with my kitty:)

    1. Awww, Shara,
I’m glad you liked Wren and her sleeping kitty for your favorite. I found that vintage lace and the hat at a little junk shop in a few towns over. I should have bought more, but I wasn’t sure it would fit any of my doll’s heads. It did and when I went back… ZERO left. :o(
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Isabelle and Lian are just too precious in their pictures. They look nice in any colored outfit. And Addy’s yellow dress is so pretty and the detail is so neat. Love the Christmas outfits and pictures. You are so creative. I really like your props too. The ones you use with the Little Darlings are really unique, especially the vanity. Using the mirror is a clever idea. One of your dolls was hanging on to a doll. Do you remember where you got that?

    1. Paula,
Thank you so much for all your kind compliments on my dolls and their dresses. I think you are right… Isabelle and Lian are always my “go to” girls when it comes to pictures. They seldom look bad in my pictures. If anything… I have a hard time narrowing down which pictures to use in my listings, when they are involved.
The little dolly that Isabelle is holding was a little air clay doll that I made for her. I won a doll dress contest one time and that was the prize I picked… the molds for the little dolls. They are quite tedious to make and I still don’t have them perfected like I’d like. It’s pretty tricky! I’m glad you noticed and liked her…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I love the third picture- the devotion between the doll and her kitty seems almost real.
Addy’s yellow dress with all the buttons is very elegant. Isabelle in the purple dress and bonnet is just precious. She looks sweet in each and every picture, really a most photogenic doll. I like the picture of her with the little doll, did you make her as well. I’ve decided one project this winter is to make my Civil War dolls and Felicity their own dolls. My Samantha has her porcelain doll and Merrythought bear from her collection, but the others need a doll as well. I really loved that hairpiece you made for Addy’s Valentine dress, the whole ensemble was stunning. I saw the lucky Addy who won it wearing it on PT.

    1. HI Laura,
You and Shara picked Wren looking at her kitty… looking at your comments makes me wish I still had her… I sold her a few years ago. The market for her clothes sort of bottomed out.

I just was telling Paula, above your comments, that yes, I did make that little doll. She’s made from a plaster mold using air clay. It’s pretty tricky and I’ve only made 3 of the little dolls. I really should work at mastering how to make them. I think they add such a cute element to the Little Darlings. They are light as a feather because they are made from the air clay and if they are dropped, they can’t get hurt. Hmmm….makes me want to get out my molds and try again…
I missed seeing my Addy dress on PT… I should go look and see how it looked on some other doll…
      Thank you Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. All of the photos have prize winning features. However, that Isabelle is such a wonderful model. My always favorite is her in tails with the cherries shirt. Of course, anything Wren is good and this time, Tulah with the cookies caught my eye. She looks so proud of her baking skills and appears to be ready for a taste test. Love seeing all of the props and how everyone is staged. Lots of fun.

    1. Thank you so much Joy,
I wish everyone could own a Little Darling… they are the absolute sweetest dolls! I just love mine…
When I was looking in my pictures, I think I only found 5 outfits that I made for Tulah… she didn’t stay at my house very long either… poor little sweetie…
Thanks so much for your very kind words, Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Your Wren was so photogenic. I remember how sorry I was not to win her black dress. I loved that set of photos. Isabel and the mirror was a definite winner. Nearly anything with that dresser looks perfect and romantic. The little redhead and her frog was very cute. Becky and Susette are right that Addy’s hair and hairpiece make a lovely picture.

More favorites tomorrow. I’ll look forward to that.

Susette, no earthquakes. Avoid them. Stay safe and secure.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
Yes, my Wren was photogenic. With everyone commenting so sweetly on her, it makes me want to go to Ebay and find her and buy her again… She was very fun to pose…
Mille, by Kaye Wiggs was one skinny little girl. She was 11″ tall, I think and she was super skinny. I had a hard time sewing things for her. The doll I bought, new, had a “kicky” knee and she was hard to pose… she was resin too, so she was heavy and you couldn’t let her fall over, or she might break… or smash her face… She was only with me maybe a year and a half. Oh well… some come and some go…
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. What an interesting portraiture compilation, Jeanne. I must agree that every photo has appeal, and I enjoy studying what what makes each one so special. Beyond your charming outfits, you give much to consider with poses, props and paraphernalia. The Little Darlings are truly in a class of their own, and one that touches my heart is Isabelle (Janie?) through the looking glass. My mother and I had a similar photo taken together in the mirror on my wedding day. I simply adore your slips, Jeanne, and the one here on Lian with the lacy floral skirt is my favorite one yet! I really need one like it in all white for my soon-to-be Little Darling, on order from Magalie. She will wear it with everything! Would you please consider a commission, Jeanne? Hope you had some fun girl time while your sister was visiting. Looking forward to tomorrow’s collection. 🙂

    1. Hi Anne,
You never cease to amaze me with the compliments you shower on me. Thank you so very much!
How could I possibly turn down your request for a slip for your Little Darling? ….soon to be Little Darling!!!
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne
