A few more clues about Addy’s Civil War dress…

Well, I’m in trouble…I have no internet service tonight so I’m trying to write this post on my phone. The only trouble is my pictures are on my computer and I can’t retrieve them from my phone. So until my internet service comes back, this will be a pictureless post.
I finished Addy’s hair ornament and her pantalettes. I also added a growth tuck near the hem of her dress.
It’s looking very pretty and I think you’re really going to like it.

If my internet service comes back, I will add a few more clues to help you imagine how Addy’s dress is coming along.

Right before I got ready to go to bed, I checked one last time and managed to get 3 pictures for you…and now I’m going to hit the publish button before I lose service again… Night!

  1. Really cute pantalettes. I love this fabric and all the white on white fabric that you use for underclothes, slips, and blouses. The embroidery is a nice touch. Really cute hairpiece. I think it will be lovely. A growth tuck is a growth tuck, and it’s always a nice detail. It looks like the skirt will be short enough for the pantalettes to show.
I’m so glad you could add the pictures and I’m so sorry about the internet service. Technology may not be your greatest skill, but you always manage to find a way to make the blog work. You are certainly way more skilled at this than I am. I appreciate all your efforts and all of your successes. It looks like Addy’s going to be ready to show off tomorrow, complete and beautiful. It is so nice that you always give us something to look forward to.
So far Boulder has been staying just below 100. I hope that’s below 100 — not above — is true for most of the rest of you too.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
Well, not the most interesting post but thank goodness it will be better tomorrrow.
I appreciate all of your kind comments on Addy’s dress from head to toe!
Now to get that crinoline finished…
It is supposed to cool down after we get some rain today. I think if I were a little kid, I’d dance out in it.
Well, I better get busy…it’s going to be a long week with the yard sale set up on Thursday and then the sale on Friday and Saturday. So far the forecast looks worse this time than it did 2 weeks ago… ugh!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Can sympathize about your internet. We spent most of yesterday trying to figure out why our camera cards no longer work. Error code ox8000000a keeps appearing. We think it may be a Windows 10 thing but aren’t sure. We’ve tried all the tricks (like Google) and no luck. Even the new computer won’t work. So, guess we’ll have to haul it to Staples and see if their guy can figure it out. So frustrating not to be able to view or post photos.
Addy’s dress is so nice. The pants are such lovely fabric and b/w boots are a nice touch. Can’t wait to see the whole thing.
Hope your internet is back on today.

    1. Hi Joy,
Well, I’m happy to report that my internet service is back up. I don’t know when in the night it came back on, but it’s on…that’s all that matters now!
So sorry about your internet/computer troubles… there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to figure out how to fix the problems online… I wish I was more of a techie…but I’m not! I’m at the mercy of others who know what they’re doing…

Thanks for the nice comments on Addy’s dress… I can’t wait to get it finished…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Such pretty items from Addy’s outfit, Jeanne! Oh, how I love those pantalettes, the fabric is just perfect, and with the embellishment, it certainly makes them special! That hairpiece too, is just beautiful! Is that a slip I spy underneath her skirt? I can’t wait to see this whole outfit all together!

Oh, technology! While I sympathize with you and Joy, it certainly makes me feel better to know that I’m not alone in trying to figure things out and make them work. We still have problems with our computer, it erases whatever I write every once in awhile. That’s why I am writing so late lately. I do write, but it gets erased, then I don’t feel like doing it again till later.

Poor Marilyn, with all that hot weather, but we have it too. If it makes you feel better, Marilyn, our heat index was at 112 yesterday and the temp. was 101 ! St. Louis has terrible humidity, and I’m sure Carbondale does too, being so close. I can’t wait for fall!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks for the nice compliments on Addy’s newest dress. This one is very pretty in person. It’s kind of drab when I take the pictures, but the actual fabric in person is very very pretty!
This is a crinoline under the dress now! It really helps hold out the dresses.
My computer was erasing things recently, so I got in the habit of copying and pasting whatever it was I was writing, before I clicked on an submit, or post comment buttons. I just saved it to a blank note pad page until I was sure it had gone through. Then I deleted it if it did. It saved me a lot of headaches!

I just checked and it’s 84 degrees here right now… but we had that 100+ weather here too! What a relief this 80+ weather is… never thought I’d be saying that!

I think I’m going to have to help George with the grass tomorrow…it’s gotten out of hand in some places where it’s been too wet and grew too fast.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I think, from your “hints”, that this is one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve seen on your blog ! And that is saying something ! You do lovely work – always inspiring.

    1. Thanks so much Suzanne,
I do like this dress on Addy very much. I wish you all could see the fabric in person. I knew it was a winner when I found it! It’s more than pretty, it’s very rich looking.
Thank you for the wonderful compliments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Happy Monday! Your “tea party” made for such a fun weekend, and now you have cleverly engaged us in a little game of Clue Couture! These are some of the things that keep your blog so captivating, Jeanne. Even with internet troubles, you have managed to create an interesting and informative post each day for almost two years, and for that alone you can be very proud!

The “clues” for Addy’s outfit are just charming. The growth tuck is always an authentic touch that lends a bit of interest and draws the eye to the hem. I noticed that you did a bit of “fancy cutting” on her embroidered pantalets, and the scallops and floss detail add such a sweet touch. Her hair ornament with the lovely lace and pearl swag looks so feminine and dressy. I think Addy will look very pretty and “grown-up” when her outfit is completed. She must be going someplace special, perhaps a garden party or a recital? I wonder what Addy’s story will be, and I can’t wait to see where the clues will lead!

    1. HI Anne,
Well, with only 3 pictures on today’s post, it wasn’t much to go on, but at least it kept you somewhat in suspense. I’m glad it happened that way…
My internet came back on sometime during the night, so I think tonight will be okay for a post with pictures.
Yes, her pantalettes have some, what I call, “fussy cutting” where you match things up or highlight a certain design on the bodice. I think Eleanor Burns, a quilt lady taught me that phrase…
You’ll have to wait to see what Addy is doing this time… it does include flowers!
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Hi Jeanne,
I’m back, after being MIA for awhile. As I said, my little kitty boy had a bad UTI and I have spent three days at the vet out of the last seven. He is finally on the mend and we are finished “pilling” the cat. Actually, he’s a sweetheart and very easy to pill etc.
I was catching up with your posts. Addy’s new dress is just lovely. The pantalettes are charming with the detail work. That fabric really sets off Addy’s coloring. Can’t wait to see the final reveal.
BTW, your tea party looked like a lot of fun. It is too bad we can’t get together for the real thing. Hope your staying cool. We’ve been having 90 + and although I love summer, that’s a little too hot for me.

    1. HI Laura,
I’m glad you little guy is one the mend now… when they’re sick, it’s kind of hard to focus on anything else, isn’t it?
Thank you for the nice compliments on Addy’s newest dress. It does look very pretty on Addy… glad you like it!
Our Tea Party, even though it was imaginary, was very fun… I even got a few new recipes from it. We have cooled off to 84 degrees right now, but it hasn’t been this cool for days. It’s supposed to rain…
      Thanks so much Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Sorry about your internet lack…similar here the other day and of course, high temps.

I cannot wait to see Addy’s ensemble. It looks to be very beautiful. The print for the dress is so pretty, isn’t it?

    Take care.

    1. Thank you Becky,
It’s nice to be back on the internet.. it’s pretty hard to get around a locked up computer when you write a blog… Maybe it was the humidity… probably not… there was a storm moving through last night, but it was kind of far from us, so I don’t know if that was it or not…

Yes, the fabric in Addy’s dress is very pretty… She likes it, I like it, I hope some buyer will like it too…
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I’m happy you got your internet back. We are so dependent on technology these days–even down to paying the bills, checking the weather report, ordering take-out food– it’s a real frustration when it doesn’t cooperate.

The hair bow looks pretty on Addy. I’ll be waiting for a full picture!

    1. Hi Carolyn,
It is pretty scary how much we depend on our computer things…and when they mess up we go crazy trying to get them back…

      I can’t wait to do a total reveal of Addy’s dress either…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Hi Jeanne,
When we’ve had internet problems I’ve used my phone as a hotspot by turning off wifi (on my laptop) and plugging my phone into my laptop. Our AT&T plan offers this service free. It’s a great backup, just in case. Maybe you have this service?
I’ve been enjoying seeing what sweet dresses have been coming out of your studio. Sorry, I haven’t been much of a commenter lately, been reading though.
I hope you have great weather for your sale this weekend. If I lived closer, I’d stop by! 🙂
